To put why we don’t sell anyone the F22 into perspective. When the US participates is war games with other countries, we nerf our guys and equipment to the point of failure. Like forcing F35s to keep their external fuel tanks on to neutralize their stealth or having to wait to engage until the enemy is already behind them or have a radar lock. And yet the F15 remains one of the top fighters worldwide in those war games. Now, when the F22 and the F15 go head to head at full capability in war games, it is a rare thing for the F15s to even know where they are being shot down from, let alone having a chance to even resist getting shot down.
True. Even in our own internal war games it’s almost always rigged that the training force will lose against the “OPFOR” You learn a lot more losing than you do winning.
The main reason you keep air to air and dogfight capability, is because if you come armed with only an rpg to a gun fight, the enemy is just going to find a way to get close and call your bluff
A major reason not to send the F-22 out on these things is to limit what intel other countries can learn about it. Also, we absolutely send the F-22 into "situations" without publicly acknowledging that it happened.

In regards to the F22 not being used. Its because it is only designed for close air defense, it's not a multi-role fighter like the F15 and F35 and as HLC stated nobody we fight has anything that warrants risking the plane. The other thing is think of the F22 as MACVSOG, we have an invisible plane so what 3 letter agency would like to use an invisble plane.
Ther is 2 missions where reapers were escorted but f22s, but it's off the book because no radars ever detected them, so it plausible denial. Then there is the intercept of the f4s when no one knee the f22s were there until they said something. The 22 is so advanced that it's a cheat code. That's why we developed the 35. You have a chance against the 35, but the 22 will leave no one to tell the story.

You don't have to be a veteran to have common sense enough to say "that seems dumb." There's a high chance veterans feel the same way about a particular subject.
The current generation of F22 is air to air only. Part of the planned upgrades would give it air to ground capabilities, similar to what happened with the F15E Strike Eagle. The other reason is that the F22 is a very expensive aircraft to fly. Why spend millions flying the plane when it is not going to contribute to the action?
The 22 is an air superiority system that is labeled a multi role fighter, if there aren’t any enemy aircraft there is no need for an air superiority fighter there.
7:31 last I recall they did deploy F-22 in Syria back in somewhere around 2017-2019? Can't recall the exact date but it was during the major air strike mission against Assad regime after he used chemicals weapons against civilian. F-22 performed combat air patrol for strike packages coming in from the south inside Syria and Russia air defense zone...they never get detected.
The reason the F-22 never gets used is because it is mostly designed for air to air combat and it is so over powered at it tgat sending it against pretty much anything except our own fighters is like sending special forces against childern. It's more then a little overkill even by our standards.

The gatekeeping is real bad. I have yet to meet a physical 40K player who has these same issues. It's an internet screeching issue.
