- Swargadwari is the one of the popular Hindu's religious place and also popular place for trekking. Swargadwarini means gateway to heaven and it is situated in southern part of pyuthan district, on the top of the hill at an elevation of 2,200 meters.
Swargadwari is the one of the popular Hindu's religious place and also popular place for trekking. Swargadwarini means gateway to heaven and it is situated in southern part of pyuthan district, on the top of the hill at an elevation of 2,200 meters. It is surrounded by pine forest and lots of Rhododendron trees on the way and in swargadwari. According to Hindu mythology, the place is said to have been founded by a Guru Maharaj who spent most of his life in the place flocking and milking thousands of cows.
He is believed to be an incarnation of god. The area can be reached by Bhalubanga on the Mahendra Highway to Bhingri from where Swargadwari is 5- hour trek away. There is also optional route from Lamahi to Dang district headquarters is a day's trek away. Pony rides are available on the way to Swargadwari along with cable car service. There are also many other big and small temples in this place. Some monks and nuns live there who are seen in the prayers every morning and evening.
Every year at Baishakh Purnima they celebrate a big fair ceremony. Hindu devotees and pilgrims come from and out of Pyuthan district and also from many parts of the India. Swargadwari is counted among Nepal's top pilgrimage sites and is also listed in a national inventory of cultural and historic heritage sites.
