I love how the garage scene between Hank and Walt is shot like the stare down before a duel in an old western, right before they both immediately get into action in trying to stop the other. A cowboy vs. an outlaw.
And instead of drawing their pistols, they both draw cellphones, and Hank is quicker on the draw. :)

lmao your "NO!" at the end had me rolling, can't remember how many times I had that exact reaction when these episodes end.
This half season is the most brutal of the bunch when it comes to cliffhangers.

I have watched this show so many times and I still don’t believe my eyes sometimes. Such a masterpiece. Never seen a series with not a single bad episode. Not before or since. Seeing it through your eyes has been a privilege because you truly understand and appreciate all the little nuances. Thanks for sharing your journey.🙏🏽

@@ThouxanbanquincyThat depends on your taste. I think that Sopranos is more conteplative and Breaking Bad is more explosive. Probably most people whould prefer the latter. But, i think Sopranos just has a little more psychological depth.
True Detective season 1 is really short but it's truly an incredible story
Need u on Mr. Robot. The only time u can debate that there’s “bad” eps are in s2 but they’re mostly slow not really “bad”
I have brought up the intentional use of color in the show before, but I do love the little bit how bottom part of Lydia's shoes are red. Red is the color of blood and murder in this show (like how Walt switched to a dark red shirt when he gave the danger speech). So even if she is turning her eyes away from blood and murder, she is literally walking on it.
Also, love the long term set up with how Hank's boss had to pack his things and leave, because his good friend Gus, turned out to be a bad guy. And as he left, his words about Gus being just a normal guy who came over for BBQ, really hit Hank. And both these things came full circle. Hank's mind was open enough to suspect Walt, because of Gus being so two faced. And the whole DEA not taking Walt down, because the last time a boss was friendly with a drug kingpin, even unknowingly, ended with his career ending.
It's wild how at this stage of the season, every single episode ends on a nail-biting cliffhanger. Pure genius.

Even if Skylar intended to cooperate with Hank, it would have been incredibly stupid to do so without going through a lawyer. Hank isn't in a position to protect her from shit and she knows that. Of course, all thought of cooperating goes out the window once she knows that the cancer is back, the very thing that she viewed as her no strings attached salvation from the entire situation. No way in hell would she burn her kids' lives down to turn in their father who would be dead soon, not to mention prison for herself.
Agreed, and I also think her not talking to Hank also mirrors many victims in abusive relationships perfectly. She's the epitome of a broken down, exhausted victim who'd rather inadvertently protect their abuser and wait for them to leave or die, rather than ruin their life and their children's lives. It takes most victims in abusive relationships 7 times to leave their abuser for good, and Skyler is no exception. She wants to protect her kids and shield them from the truth as much as possible, and she knows Hank is willing to do ANYTHING to expose Walt, no matter the consequences.
10:14 Regarding the barrel POV shot, I think what is more likely is that they built a rolling camera rig and mounted it inside - since you don't see the barrel itself in the shot you wouldn't necessarily need to simply mount the camera onto an actual barrel (assuming you have the knowledge and budget to build a rig like that)
No, what they did was that they actually taped the cameraman to a barrel of money and rolled it because that's how good this show is. Bravo Vince.
I believe the turning point for Skylar was when she realized she could just wait Hank out until Walt died, and then her children wouldn’t have to learn anything about their father or what she did to further his business.
Also, I think part of it would be that if Walt dies, then the blame would likely go to Skylar. So she realizes she would be screwed if she talks.

I remember this episode, Saul talking about sending hank to Belize like mike so callously, is kind of crazy after watching Better Call Saul. I don't know if your going to check that series out ( excellent btw) but mike plays a big role in it

I love that Skyler didn't talk to Hank, it's realistic and shows just how stuck she really is. Her not talking to Hank also mirrors many victims in abusive relationships perfectly. Love your reactions, and this is a brilliant show. I wanted to put a suggestion out there: if you haven’t watched Twin Peaks, I would love to see your reaction to it. There is an intense and broad viewer base for it, and I’m sure it’d bring fresh eyes to your channel. I also have a hunch you’ll love it. I know there aren’t many channels out there watching it (most reactors go for current shows) but that can be an asset: less competition. Just a thought. Thank you!

Love your reactions James. When you wrap up Breaking Bad, I have a couple of movie suggestions for you to check out. One is 'The Great Santini' and the other is 'Tender Mercies.' Both star Robert Duvall (Gus of Lonesome Dove fame) and both are IMHO two of his finest performances.

I do have a very soft spot for Hank from this moment on. This absolutely sucks because he was really good at his job and probably the only people that could have fooled him that long is his own family. And that would be true for absolutely anybody that is about to pass judgment on him for not knowing that it was Walt. It Kind of comes full circle for him here also because they blamed his former boss for Gus Fring infiltrating the DEA somewhat. When it wasn't really his fault and not the only agency Gus infiltrated. And Walt crossed them harder and more than once.
I always sided with Skylar being a manipulated victim but rewatching this show I’m realizing she’s had a lot of opportunities to do the right thing, especially in this episode and she doesn’t to save her own ass. I’m ngl I kinda forgot this even happened
Thats just like Walt. He had many opportunities to leeve a life of the crime, but ultimatelly his own ego prevails there.

Fascinating character decision for Marie to attempt taking baby Holly from Skylar - given Marie and Hank are childless and we were never told why.

The fact that James watches Wendigoon was one of the greatest peices of information I was given this week.
I forget which episode's cast and crew commentary it was but those two detectives are actual police investigators. Vince Gilligan was saying we wanted it to seem as real as possible to an actual interrogation and the casting director found them. I honestly don't think any actors you could get in ABQ at the time could've done a better job with the passive aggressive buddy-buddy vibe they give off. It suits the scenes they're in perfectly and Aaron Paul does an amazing selling how annoying it must be to deal with them

Great show, but how dramatic they are is kinda overblown. They've never actually seen Walter do ANYTHIING, and Hank's suspicion about the entire Myth of Heisenberg is laughed at in the department.
