I hope zero waste become more popular
do you do it?
Joycelynn McCoy yea
microcosmicfauna i doooo
you do realise the worlds already screwed right and everyone using zero waste will solve nothing
I hear your abcitydog, the big companies and corperations need to be zero waste. Mind you if every person wanted to be zero waste then those companies and corporations would have to follow suit or else disappear.
And even that wouldn't solve all the problems that previous human waste and pollution has caused.
MAC cosmetics accepts their containers back to be reused ! Good alternative for no waste makeup
mac cosmetics uses animal testing!!!
@thisbitch 123 No one is the perfect human being! Someone who reuses and recycles their everything in addition to paying attention to animal testing as well, are you that person? I know I'm not and most people aren't either. I'm not a Mac fan but honestly this Grinch attitude of 'nothing anybody ever does is enough' on the Internet is sickening.
Do what you can, go with what you believe in and do your best! For some people that's going to be returning the containers to Mac for recycling and others is going to be not using Mac at all because they use animals in makeup testing.
Why everybody got to be so mean and grouchy with each other? Get a grip, be nicer and do what you can in your life to help. Very easy, no grinching necessary!
Hannah Long thanks so much because I will not be making makeup 😹😹
Body Shop too!
BlowItOutYourCunt totally agree! Thank you
One easy step: bring your own reusable coffee cup. 4 BILLION starbucks cups are thrown away annually and they cannot be recycled! ONLY STARBUCKS! No other company included!
:-D Im always getting hassled by people for my mason jar lol
People think its gonna break or "Im gonna drop it some day" blah blah blah
Ive been using it at tea & coffee shops for years & years now.
Its never turned down & I agree w/your comment wholeheartedly.
And get a reusable water bottle! I can't tell you how much plastic i've avoided since!
mastercleanseNOTdiet I wish I could do that but I drop everything😅 but I do use the same water bottle and refill it if that makes it better
keeeksmonster Yes!!! This needs to become more common!
+Heather Nicole :0) you made me laugh. . . reminded me of my cousin Angie, swear she's soOo clumsy lol
I forgot to mention the mason jar I use has a handle. That does help tremendously.
Now it's winter & I use one of those re-usable insulated coffee things. Trying to be mindful/aware of these things & efforts to reduce one's carbon footprint on the world is extremely satisfying imho.
I have alot of grocery bags, I don't use plastic for a long time now. Even have little mesh ones for the produce section so I don't have to use those thin plastic bags for fruits/veggies, etc :-P
Can't go wrong with coconut oil

ThisIsACrappyUsername thank you! Swap it for lavender or rosehip oil you’ll thank me later
So I wanted to add that plastic never breaks down. Plastic is not biodegradable. It just breaks into tiny tiny plastics called micro plastics.
It does. It just takes centuries or bacteria that evolved specifically to feast on it or something like that (could be wrong on bacteria thing, correct me if that's the case).
Vesta Teiserskyte plastic does not and can not be biodegradable, it keep getting smaller and smaller creating micro plastic but it isn’t biodegradable. Even when it’s broken down into pieces that are small enough to not be seen with the human eye it’s still there and still causing problems.
@@Milkpastasoup you need to check your facts. You are almost right. Google it. Google has all the answers

THEY SHOULD DO A WEEK ON SOLID BEAUTY PRODUCTS.
I travel a lot and I can do a complete beauty routine with a full face of makeup for two weeks with 2Tbsp’s worth of liquid. The only parts that don’t exist in a solid form are medicated skin serum and lash glue and most people don’t use either of those. The rules of the challenge are simple, NOTHING that the TSA considers a liquid, gel or aerosol.
P.S. If you’re trying this in real life I suggest you fill your liquid bag with small tub of spf face cream, a small bottle of smashbox’s primer water, a tube of mascara and as many liquid lipsticks/glosses as you need.
LUSH has shampoo bars that don't have packaging
My name is Alyssa
My name is Allysha
Lush wraps them in paper in store and then seals them with a plastic sticker
Sabrina Hoang not where I’m from. They have metal reusable tins that you can buy
Sabrina Hoang it's still much better than shampoo in plastic bottle. From where I'm from papers are very well recycled so I don't see that as a problem. And as someone mentioned you can buy metal reusable tins if you want. Maybe in future you can recycle stickers much better
The beet lipstick looks good on all three of you.

kira bell I’ve never been aware on a zero waste lifestyle before this video.
Unless that zero waste company sends the products by carrier pigeon... They're not "zero waste", but they ARE minimal waste.
Miss Raquel they're products are zero waste, how they get delivered isn't really up to them tbh
Miss Raquel PERIOD
That's to the company, we are talking about the product right noe
if it's shipped in cardboard then it's completely recyclable. the company really doesn't have a say in packaging and shipping regulations that are set by the post office.
Zero waste includes anything that can be recycled/composted/is biodegradable. So any glass, metal, and paper products/packaging is a-ok, and some plastics are recycleable, but many are not. Many zero wasters choose to avoid plastic as much as possible even if it is a type of plastic that is relatively easy to recycle.
If you mean the air miles of shipping stuff, you can search locally for things or even make them yourself. Many companies who appeal to zero wasters use all post-consumer recycled shipping materials, and use compostable tape and shipping peanuts. There is no such thing as absolutely ZERO waste, all the gurus will tell you this, because you can’t control up the chain where waste happens. Even shipping via carrier pidgeon isn’t guaranteed to be zero waste because the person feeding them might use seeds that come in plastic bags 😜
The point is to reduce as much as possible the most harmful aspects of our modern lives ^^
Everyone is so beautiful 😩❤️

I'm in Canada. Recycling /composting is mandatory. We have CLEAR garbage bags so A-holes can't throw recyclables away and clear blue bags for the recycling. Why wouldn't you recycle anyway...you'd basically be poisoning your own habitat and water system???
I see people throwing out composting and recycling all the time, even on an Environment campus. Plus apartments and townhomes in my region don't have green bins yet - we can all aim to do better.
Nova Scotia Gal we also have to seperate the organics with the garbage. if there is a tiny bit of plastic in the organics bin, the garbage men wont take the whole bin and give you a note on what you did wrong, and then you have to wait another week until they come back again to pick it up.
Nova Scotia Gal yess exactly! I'm in the falls. Ive always recycled. It makes it so much easier Tbh
THIS IS *A M E R I C A*
Some of it's laziness. Some of it is sabotage. The other day I was at the mall, which just brought in these new recycling, glass and trash-trash containers. I happened to be leaving as they were emptying one, and it turns out it was all just one bin. Welcome to 'Merika, where even when you try, you're STILL DOING IT WRONG.
A suggestion to Ari:there is an eco friendly toothbrush by ecokiss. The base is made with bamboo and the Brussels are made by charcoal which whitens and is good for the environment
i actually have one :)
Georganics is great too, they have toothpaste and mouthwash in glass containers too!
Charcoal ruins your gums and can remove your emmanuel

How I do the makeup, doing hair, and shaving part:
- Too lazy/don't care enough to wear makeup
- Use water, not gel/hairspray in hair.
- Girl do you think I have the motivation to shave because I don't
My jaw literally clenched when I saw them put coconut oil on their face because coconut oil is great for your skin and literally everything even to remove makeup but you shouldn't really leave it on your face because it can clog pores
yes, they should use jojoba or argan oil for their face.
Probably argan because it's a zero and jojoba is a 2.
oh god, i cringed too! i read a blog post about a girl who did the oil cleansing method on her face with coconut oil and she broke out so badly- the damage was still visible after 6 months! hemp or argan oil are 0 and sooo much better
It would be cool if they made it say like for face wash and body wash and shampoo and all that stuff like you would go to the store and get a reusable bottle and then when it goes out you go to the store and refill it and it will charge you for the amount you use to re fill it and then you do that over and over. That would be cool.

This is why I try and only buy things in containers that are recyclable. Sure it's not zero waste but I'm doing the best that I can for what works best for me.
I am extremely interested in some of these products. Any chance we'll get links to them?
Check out Erica Purr's replies. ivenevertried linked everything.
My mom tried to do this but then she gave birth to me🤠
Oof
No you can teach your kids. The problem isn't having children, it's not teaching them to care about the planet and being a throw away consumerist. I'm a mom of 2 and I teach my kids to buy second hand , compost, use reusable bags etc.

That Ari girl looks so much better with her hair now. She used to have these ridiculously short bangs and a weird haircut that didn't flatter her face. Made her look mean and snooty and uptight. Her hair now is very gentle and looks healthy. I wonder if it's because of the zero waste products. Whatever she's doing, it seems to be working for her.
Falalongkornz agreed! Her bangs made her look slightly odd and definitely snooty.
I stopped washing my face with soap 2 years ago and started washing it with extra virgin olive oil. Most of my acne cleared up in two weeks and by a couple of months was completely gone. I have been so so happy with it. I also put coconut oil in my hair after every time I wash it and it has really kept split ends away. I didn't change because of no waste, it was just because I wanted to see if my skin and hair improved.
You shouldn't use coconut oil on your face, it clogs pores. Something like rosehip oil is much better
Seriously! I was like AHHH it's comedogenic!
I kinda choked on my water at that part lol
Like if they used fractionated coconut oil it would have be fine but they didn't and I'm just praying for their skin rn
O god there gonna get messed
Erin Stafford I used coconut oil on my face for eczema on my eyes and cheeks after about 10 minutes after putting it on, my whole face felt like it was burning and I woke up with my entire face completely covered in eczema, I love coconut oil for a lot of things, but please everybody kept it away from your face
Oh my God coconut oil as moisturizer??? UGH THE CLOGGING OF THEIR PORES IS STRESSING ME OUTTT
Alexxis Butera wdym its so good for you
Brittany Fortune coconut oil is comodegenic, which basically means that it gets into your pores, which causes them to stretch and can give you acne and blackheads and it's just not good for your skin or hair.
Alexxis Butera oh my god , sorry im 13 and thats what my mom told me 😂😂😂 always listen to her 😂
what? coconut oil helps with my acne + scarring because it has regenerative properties as well.
3:33 THATS ME WHEN I GET SURPRISED FROM NOT BEING SWEATY AROUND MY CRUSH
I use microfiber makeup removing towels like the Makeup Eraser, just need warm water and even mascara goes away ( do not wash it with softener that will make it less effective)
What's funny is these same girls tested out the Makeup Eraser in a video, and they (along with a few other TH-camrs) are why I decided to buy it! I save money on makeup remover and don't have to use unnecessary chemicals and allergens on my face (and for those wondering, no, those chemicals aren't really in my makeup either since it's vegan and mostly natural). The fact that I'm not going through containers I'll then have to throw away is just an added benefit I didn't think about until now.
You should do that thing the try guys just did
YESSS I just watched that, it is so funny.

i know double standards and all but it seems like "women objectifying"

I'm surprised people in America don't recycle in Australia everyone has a rubbish and a recycling bin at home, also in some states you can get money for recycling soft drink (soda) cans and bottles.
Same in many parts of America
Ikr when Freddie said she doesn't recycle at all I was so confused like, just put it in the yellow lid bin what's so hard about that? Which leads me to my question, how do Americans recycle if they don't have yellow bins?
Honestly same. I thought every country had laws about these
I live in florida (U.S) and we have recycling bins. Actually I think most states do here in America , but its people who are too lazy to recycle that don’t use it
Paige Black - that's the thing alot of Americans don't recycle, because they think it takes up to much time and that it hard. I'm an American teen that recycles even tho I get busy. It's just that alot of Americans are very lazy 😒👎

I heard somewhere on here that when trees get cut down there's so much left over sawdust that even after it gets made into gardening stuff, cat litter, etc. and gets turned into paper a lot of it still gets thrown away. Might not be 100% true, it's just what I heard.
😱OMG FREDDIE CURLS POPPINGGGGG ❤️❤️❤️

Erica!!! I am also wanting to know what was that deodorant???
Erica G The deodorant name was mentioned at 1:53
Esmeralda GamgeeToo, thx!!
Ivenevertried, thx!!
It's from a brand called Schmidts. I use it and it works even better than my old one (Secret Clinical Strength). I do use the standard plastic deodorant packaging though. I should change that. But they now also have bar soaps and sensitive-skin deodorant (which is not yet in jar packaging but when they come out with that I'll probably make the switch). They have a bunch of scents, including fragrance free, but my favorite was the Lavender & Sage one they used.
I totally agree with them! Honey used as a mask is the best thing ever! My skin has never felt so soft and it reduces the size of my zits when I break out. Thank you nature!
They could have made a homemade oil cleanser which combines face cleansing and makeup removal altogether instead of using honey and buying cosmetic pads.

Zero waste razors are my favorite I do get any ingrown hairs always get a close shave! I love it ❤
Alright this looks like cheese, so I trust it. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Tip: the bottles of lush shampoo and conditioner that were shown you can actually get as zero waste shampoo bars in lush. Their naked collection is actually really good. I don't recommend the Cork holders they sell as they rot quickly and mine went mouldy despite me drying it after use.
soap vs. pregnancy... hmm they're both obvious
periods: i sometimes use disposable pads however there is period kits you can buy that are reusable (a breathable comfy pad that can be used for hours and then soaked and reused heaps ) it comes in different patterns and is really comfy and reliable. i believe you can order them and they’re called “hanna” pads.
Why does the thumbnail look like Kristin tried to use a spoon as a tampon? Lol
8:47 Devin has a sticker or something on her arm 😂
Must be from the goop video
It’s a bandage
The zero waste trend on buzzfeed is kinda cool because it's presented in a lot less intimidating way then a lot of the TH-camrs videos that advocate for that lifestyle. It makes me actually feel like I can make little steps vs feeling like it's impossible.
“Alright this looks like a piece of cheese so I trust it.” QUOTE OF THE CENTURY
I switched to a safety razor about six years ago. I even bought a vintage one off ebay that was the first "ladies" model (longer handle for reaching legs). I bought a box of 200 blades for about $12, and still haven't bought more since.
