Over here in America, we have a rich government that could easily afford to give the citizens an affordable education, but the government would rather spend almost all of that money on the bloated military budget instead.
If the USA, could cut blotated admin fees, and get close to the OECD average (9.8k), the country could afford to give students, free laptops, free food, free stationary, free textbooks etc. Or alternatively, hire more competent teachers (eg, PHD in mathematics teaches the subject and pay them above market rates). Alas the teacher unions would hate this outcome.
BTW military spending is also disproportionally high. The US spends alot without recieving as many benefits. Russia and China can challenge US might, while spending a fraction of the amount (even after adjusting for salary, and discounting the cost of the US navy). If the US abandoned alot of its allies (which quite frankly it doesnt need), it could save 25%-45% (atleast), on military spending without having to sacrifice power projection (10 aircraft carriers are vital to the US security).
'Free' college is more expensive, because it comes from taxes that first are in the goverment hands, and they make what they want with that money. My country (3rd world) average salary is 3,000 u$s yearly, and each graduate from our free college cost 60,000 u$s each year. Thats money from people that are never going to get an education (being free makes the real state, services and food in that areas expensives af, so only a minority can afford to live there), so poor people pay for rich people education. Makes everyone rage. No one would want that...
lol the government has been funding education which is 100% free up until college and mostly free for those obtaining BA degrees and almost free for those getting a MA for 60 years, they fumbled so bad through endless fountains of free money for colleges which destroyed free market principles of being accountable to the consumer and gave free reign to anti American socialist propagandists to destroy the future careers and minds of tens of millions while giving them 100% useless indoctrination instead of education and now there is a 1.6 trillion education loan debt that is rising.......but yeah lets raise the debt from 1.6 T to 10 :) instead of returning accountability VIA free market forces.......sounds like a wonderful plan

Most Indians are against that scam "code camp" as well. Fortunately, many channels like coffee have paid attention to it and have done a video on it
FCC is great, usually when you look for a free tutorial on a topic, you can only find 15-30 minute long videos which barely scratch the surface of the topic and are not helpful. FCC drops these massive 5-10 *hours* long videos explaining everything in detail. Heck, they might as well have a 50 hour long video on how to build your own spaceship. These guys are just awesome

I just realized that what your channel largely reminds me of is the early age of the internet, when it felt so wide open every day, and people were tripping over themselves to share their knowledge on a world stage, freely and openly. Great channel!
This guy is the most jacked programmer ever 👌
No light weight, high rep here.
There was a programmer in my office that is a body builder
JavaScript Dev by day, club bouncer at night.
Look at John Sonmez from Simple Programmer/Bulldog mindset.
@@MrPoselsky Lmao was going to say, don't tell John Sonmez
Who else was watching the into, just waiting for the next clip to drop showing his $10k course? xD
Honestly this is amazing and I'm going to check it out, as this is something that's been in my plans to learn. Great stuff Coffee and Quincy.
Hi Coffeezilla and Quincy, listening to you two talk It remind me when I was younger in my late teen years to walk to this school and took typing class and they paid me to go there . I did this after working 6 hours at a job close to my mom's house. Thanks for sharing this video.
This interview is a suitcase full of quotable moments. Thanks for bringing him on, Stephen. 👌🏼
Well, i'm 36 and going through a deep sea of shit right now and i've been like this for some time now. Dudes like these are the ones that give some hope to dudes like me.
Thanks to both of you.
Those dislikes are from that indian code camp
That's not even a code camp bro. That is just an elaborate scam that's looting people in broad daylight. Funny thing is TH-cam sides with those bastards.
Lol
Its a scam not a codecamp
From india... 👍
that thing is a scam targeting parents who don't know much and believe it is possible to teach coding to a 6-9 year old. FCC on the other hand is a blessing.
What a genuinely good guy, very life-affirming listening to him. Big fan of free code camp!
Quincy is the BEST! I am one of the graduates of FCC finished all programs and got all certs incl the latest ML & AI ones. Thank you Quincy!
Ayee Quincy!! Thanks for the interview. This man is truly among the best!!
Yooo, I used their courses way back in 2017, it's been an upward cycle since then till I got a job in IT security now (I just turned 20). I can't stress enough how much this guys have changed lives. They deserve every bit of love and support they get and a billion times more 😁
Yes bring more stuff like this. This will help in beating the scammers more than anything. Thank you for this video.
I never understood why Qunicy was sending free mails and providing free stuff. Great it has helped me alot. Such a great Researched stuff.
It's great watching you rip scammers to shreds, but I love it more when you bring legit dudes like this as a light to shine in this world. Can advocate for FCC as a practicing software engineer 100%!
Mad respect to a guy that voluntarily points out that his salary is in the public domain.
This guy is great! And I agree systems need to be rethought - and our culture of ignorance needs to be addressed (to me the hard part by far) .
Quincy Larson is too cool. Normally I dislike getting random emails but I love getting them from Quincy Larson. They are always good.
so glad i found this vid because ive been willing to try almost anything to learn how to pull myself up by my boot straps but its been a hell of a time but i believe in coffeezilla so i started the bootcamp today and gonna put 100 percent of my focus on it
Love what you're doing with this channel man. Keep it up!
I like how you said "Knowledge" over there.
9/10 you got the voice.
just finished my reactive web design course and it was put together so well. looking forward to finishing JS. FCC is really good and definitely worth your time👌
I love that you interviewed this man. He is such an inspiration!
Discovering he started learning at 30 years old is a big encouragement. Great interview I'm sold.
I heard 3 times " free cocain" instead of FreeCodeCamp , joke aside am a proud student of that platform thank's for bringing the man as guest
I am doing my thesis with Python. The right guy at the right moment. Thank you Coffeezila!
so glad i found this, thank you so much Coffeezilla and Quincy
Who in the hell would thumbs down this video. Love this guy!! 10 thumbs UP!!!
Wow! Thanks for getting Quincy on this show. I love freecodecamp!
for a second i heard ""free coke camp, I want everyone to know it's free. free coke camp"
@TheMasterZar it turned "Friedrich Hayek" into "for your kayak"
this might just be the best interview on the internet, of all time.
I kept hearing "free cocaine" instead of free code camp. 😂
A.k.a., such a positive guy.
Just started Using FreeCodeCamp! I’m so excited about these new opportunities…thanks coffeezilla!
so good to not be involved in drama . this was so interesting
This is AMAZING!!!!! You're AWESOME!!!!
I'm a bit old, but I'm gonna sign up and try it out. :)
I love freecodecamp and I learned a lot from it but I also went to a coding bootcamp, I really think it's not black and white, some people are not able to force themselves to learn or they don't know exactly what to learn and how long it should take. There are many factors that go into how you learn. I believe in free education but I also think a lot of people need a mentor to guide them through the difficult parts of their journey.
Yeah but freecodecamp is doing something right.
would be interesting if he added a job board so employers can have more direct access to people who are getting certifications from his site
Quincy changed the life of many and many people including myself I switch from basic jobs to programming and all for free.
This guy is not getting enough credits.
This is truly amazing. The disruption of the education system that we really need. Im signing up for python. Something I've thought about for awhile but im in
Good luck!! Work hard :) 💪
When I saw Free Code Camp on Coffe I was really surprised, because my experience was overwhelmingly positive. Great episode coffee
Thenewboston has been posting coding videos to youtube for 10+ years. He preached how you didn't need college for coding and that the info was all in books. I'm sure FCC is more organized and up to date but this this me a flash back to watching his vids years ago.
Coffeezilla once again a man of the people.
Hell yeah! That's where I started. Been getting paid to code for 2 years now.
8:43 Owhhhh he's describing my life so accurately that I'm freaking out now. Not taking care of paraplegic but everything else including my Subway...
Your videos are the only thing I feel like watching. So addictive!
This renewed my faith in humanity again a little... Thank you
This is what an actual guru looks like
This guy’s economics are super-woke too. A treat to listen to. Great interview Stephen!
So basicallly nothing is free. With education, comes success, with success comes responsibility towards the society.
I found out about free code camp about 6 months ago and I love it he ain’t lying it’s totally free and I’ve been learning love this guy I didn’t know he was the one who started it
You can teach yourself to code and actually you probably should. if you want to succeed as a developer you must keep learning and you do not need to take courses as such and you absolutely never have to pay.
I taught myself 14 years ago, I walked into the industry and have never looked back it changed my life and not a single person cares how I learned to do it they just respect what I can do.
“The right information in the right place can truly change your life.” 👌🏾
My uncle used to say "what we need is less than what we want" as a kid I used to not appreciate that saying much until adulthood
Lmfaoo I live in the Appalachian Mountains... and your parents will often say "put your wants in one hand and s#!t in the other... and see which one gets full faster"
It's funny. I've recently started learning a new revenue stream. I paid for one and was , meh. Then I found a free source by somone highly credible that just wants to teach, and brought me to a level I never thought possible.
Reminds me of what this guy is doing.
Respect, don't underestimate the free sources
FirstN our boy Steve exposes all the fake get rich quick schemes and scammers.
sscond! he introduces you to groups of people that actually help people get rich quick and have ideas and free grants and help to get you there. Coffee you're a hero. a true an internet hero
I honestly have probably skipped past a site called free code camp because it says free in the name. It’s so often a scam when they have that in the name ... I’m glad that isn’t the case.
'Information is infinitely reproducible' that's a great quote
I am a proud subscriber of FreeCodeCamp, as a developer the channel has really helped me out in alot of areas, mostly with my Python ML and Data Science projects, so big ups, and a huge thanks
he says "free code camp" so fast that every time he says it I doubleback because I am totally hearing "free cocaine"
"I want more free cocaine to happen, it's a good thing"
Excellent conversation and discussion, good sirs! Two of the good guys on this platform.
wow massive respect to you brother ! this is just awesome content
As someone who's recently become interested in learning to code, thank you
He seems like just a really good dude, I loved listening to him honestly he just seems like a very happy dude
This conversation is phenomenal!
What a great fella is Mr. Larson!!! Thank you Coffeezilla for everything you do on this channel!
What a guy! I was mesmerised by his ethics and vision but enough about Stephen I also enjoyed Quincy
Keeps sounding like he’s saying “free cocaine” 😂🤣🤣
Yeeeeeees hahahhaha i was looking for this comment, that's all i ve been hearing for the last 30min XD
@@hamzawahbi5253 Actually it's starting to sound more like, "free coke camp," which I'd imagine is quite expensive for parents 🤣🤣🤣
Lol..another start up idea 😂😂
Refreshing content my dude!
So I just wanted to thank both of you for this!! Coffee for bringing this guy on and for his creation of this site!! Because of this video I signed up because I always wanted more technical know how and it’s really well done for a beginner like myself!!
This interview was SO refreshing I feel like I was vaping pure Altoids and huffing vapo rub on the side!
