I live in my van with my lttle dog, Vinnie. Although he's off leash when I'm outside with him (six times per day - we have a routine), I wouldn't let him out alone without a leash. So, my answer to that is a metal spiral stake I can easily clip him to and that is very portable and easy to screw into the ground. I pick a safe spot near the van but not accessible to the road. Now, he's out when he wants, I'm in when I want, and we're both very happy. Perhaps this could work for you? Btw...I'm really liking your videos. You're a great story teller! Best, Lauren 😊
Hi Lauren, thank you. I literally got one of those just after filming this video (didn’t even know they were a thing), and wow. What a game changer! She’s loving life on that & I’ve even taken her into clients gardens as I work. She’s outside like 6-7 hours a day now - as long as it’s not raining - & things are very different. Thanks for the tip, it’s working a treat 🥰
I travel with my cat, took her about 2 weeks to adjust. Instead of sleeping all the time, she is awake and looking out the windows and wanting to explore. She also growls when she sees anything approaching the van, its her home.
I live on a boat. My cat understands “nearly bedtime” and goes out. Next is “bedtime” and she comes in and gets a few dreamies and then bed. Routine is the keyword.
Great video. glad your enjoying the freedom of van life. ive been full time since last September and still loving it. However I still work full time. also planning some winter sun this coming winter. been watching your videos throughout your build. you can see in your face that you are enjoying van life your looking so so much happier. take care and stay safe
Don’t listen to the ones who say you can’t travel with your cat of course you can please don’t give her up because of them your cat needs you I can see she’s adapted to living in the van which has plenty of room for her to play in she would rather be in the van with you than being in a house with somebody else I travel with my cat in my van and she loves it I just ignore the people who say things like that don’t let anyone tell you how to live your life
Love this comment! Spot on. Thank you 💛 She’s adapted even more over the last few weeks. I let her go off her lead a few days ago & she came back all on her own 🥰 It’s taking some time to adjust, but that goes for me too! It’s a huge change, but we’ll get there. Thanks again.
Hi Becca we have a Simploo toilet without the pee bottle. Simploo do a kit called "Pipe Adaptor Conversion Kit" which replaces the pee bottle with a funnel and pipe which diverts the pee straight into your grey waste tank which you empty as you normally would. No more forgetting to empty the bottle, reduced smells, no more emptying the bottle when it's peeing down outside. It is a game changer
Hi my whipa was a out door cat before i Rehomed him and now he his a in door cat and I have the same problem with him every night he wants to go outside and sits by the front door meowing . So what I do to distracting him is I turn on a old laptop and sit it on the floor and I put TH-cam on for him and he sits there for hours watching cat tv watching birds and squirrels on TH-cam he absolutely loves it and now every time I come home from work he sits there meowing at me to turn the laptop on to watch TH-cam 😂 .
🤣 I’ve seen other cats enjoy similar things too. We’ve managed to iron out the teething issues. & as long as it’s not pouring down with rain or super windy, (which she did in the house anyway) the meows have stopped!!! 🎉🎉 We’re getting there 🥰
Hi, great Vlog’s - they’re very inspirational as it’s something I want to do ASAP at some point. I love your enthusiasm and positive mindset! I’m going to follow your journey and hopefully it’ll get me moving forward to living a similar lifestyle. Keep smiling and take care of yourself. Daryll
Greetings Becca, Well do you remember this bloke Pottsy recomending getting a Dehumidifier ( compressor type ) to dry out everything. I have had sunroof leaks before also bought a van cheep once because the owner had driven off and left the sunroof up and it ripped off and soaked / delamanated the floor. I am tired this week as have been manufacturing parts to change the suspention to K-TEC and re make exhaust pipes for the racing bike to take to IOM towards end of the month for pre TT, after a weekend away locally. Suggest using USB C to power laptop from 1000 Grecell not mains plug as not as efficent up and down the voltages via inverter. The 500 Grecell has made lots of tea using a low wattage camping kettle and hoover works ok. Still no toast available and will test how it manages the lights when in Scarborough. Solar 120W x 2 are here just need fitting ect sometime. I have suggested a power pack to Campervanya instead of reworking the electics in her van as newish and no brainer to use somthing all in one than rip out good stuff and install new just to use lithium as already in powerpack ready to go. I have also seen people plug the blue mains lead in to power up everything as if on a site. PS video quality seems down a bit. Best Wishes Steve.
Great video. Well done to you. This is useful, informative and inspiring. I am fairly close to completing my DIY campervan build and look forward to being at the stage that you're at. Wishing you the very best through it all. Natasha
Hi Becca I have had an idea about your pee problem, a liquid level indicator for visually impaired just sits on the side of the container and lets off an alarm when that container is nearly full, might be worth a try. Once again have a great week and please stay safe.
Hello lovely, so glad it’s going well. In preparation for moving in my van I bought some small power banks to go in my van to charge up phone, tablet and other usb appliances. I can also take them anywhere to charge them up, which is handy. I have had cats and dogs and I will have a dog eventually when I am settled in my van. I think routine is key for me. Once I have routine I can introduce a dog who will fit into and around me. I have thought of breaking down the chores, how practical that will be I’m yet to find out. I will have a planner to help me plan the chores. For example my laundry day will be a Monday ( as I’m using my dad’s washing machine, I can fill up the water tank and empty the grey one.) shopping on a Wednesday and Saturday and so on. I’m not quite there. My van broke down just before the diesel heater was going to be fixed. I’m looking forward to getting in my van now and it’s so nice seeing your vlogs on how you’re getting on. You’re doing so well lovely 😘
Hi love your videos. I camp with my dog and have a corkscrew tether that screws in ground and it secure. Also camper vibes do van life with a cat they maybe able to give some tips. I am with you my dogs a mud magnet and it a battle in a tent. I can put an equa fleece on her which helps loads and she lets me dry her feet. Good luck x
I’ve bought one of those since making this video & wow. What a game changer. She’s been coming into clients gardens with me through the day. She’s outside more at night. She’s loving it now 🥰 I just needed to work these things out. She’s even worked out she needs to stop on the mat when she comes in for me to clean her. What a clever girl. All part of the experience isn’t it 🥰

I feel so sorry for savannah, you chose to live in a van and have forced savannah to live in it with you, she must be so frustrated I know you love her but it must be hard on her. When you said savannah is living with you in the van I thought oh no. You clearly are frustrated too. It’s such a small place for a cat that’s used to to having freedom. Please don’t let her off the lead, there’s so much danger out there, she might get attacked or hurt and if she gets startled she could run off and get lost. If I were you I would put my feelings aside and think about savannah’s well being you must love her to bits, so please think about her. Can’t you take her back to mum and dad’s where she would be safe and in her usual place
Savannah is her sole companion and makes Becca feel safe ( if that makes sense ) I know 100% that Becca would not put Savannah in any danger whatsoever. I personally feel you are being a little harsh on Becca, but I suppose everybody has their own opinion on the situation.

This comment is really unhelpful
I can totally see your point. It’s a complete lifestyle change as she says. And you can’t explain that to a cat. She obviously wants to go out.
