      I love the PATH. I'm from Jersey so I'm biased, but still. What's sad is NJ could've had a great metro, just never happened. Too many counties and cities would have to agree.

    You sir are a great trainspotter! Amazing views and lots of action there and boy, that's a very steep gradient on the flyover, but i bet many motored bogies solve the problem there. Keep up your excellent work, i will be watching more of your videos.

    FYI, the Manhattan terminus is no longer Times Square. About 5 months after this video was published, the Hudson Yards station at 11th Av and 34th Street opened for service.

    Another unique aspect of the Flushing line is that all trains-- locals and expresses-- are eleven cars. Other IRT lines are served by ten car trains; BMT/IND trains are eight cars long. Since most subway cars are married pairs, the 7 requires single cars in the fleet.
    The only physical connection with the rest of the system is at Queensborough Plaza, so 7 cars are shopped at Coney Island.

    • @Luftschlange
      @Luftschlange  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A couple of days ago I actually spotted an R188 train set changing from the BMT to the IRT tracks at Queensboro Plaza.

    • @angrycartrains5667
      @angrycartrains5667 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not all IND and BMT trains are 8 cars long.

    • @TheLpbrennan
      @TheLpbrennan 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Of course not; shuttles are as few as two (Franklin) and possibly some off-peak trains. But the maximum length on the BMT-IND Division is eight cars. because if their length.

    • @svideos4796
      @svideos4796 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Larry Brennan the max length is 10 cars (60 footers) or 8 cars (75 footers)

    • @TheLpbrennan
      @TheLpbrennan 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sean Lomba You are correct-- the maximum number of cars in a train on the BMT-IND depends on the length of the cars. I wasn't clear on that. Some lines run shorter trains because of less traffic-- the G, for one. The point I was making is that the 7 is the only line running eleven car trains.

    Why is it called the Flushing Line?

    • @Luftschlange
      @Luftschlange  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Colin Gallagher Because it runs to Flushing, which is the name of a neighborhood in Queens. Cheers!

    • @larryphilby4918
      @larryphilby4918 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Flushing is named after Vlissingen in the Netherlands. Many names in New York are of Dutch origin, including Harlem, Brooklyn, Flatbush, and lots of others, reflecting its original settlement by the Dutch.

    Nice video and posting on www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/47358-evening-rush-hour-action-in-corona-queens/#entry831329 and it seems that the R62A paired sets on the 7 train are going back to the 6 train due to their diamond and circle leds in exchange for the 6 train getting some of the R142A fleet into CBTC R188s for the 7 train and those R142As running on the 7 like 7242 & 7311 they seem to have problems on their front trucks due to the fact that the 6 train is a north south line through the upper east side of Manhattan on the way to Pelham Bay Park Bronx
