I agree. I'm unsure how much you know of Japanese culture, but I could also recommend looking up Onna-bugeisha. I love simply being called a martial artist personally, but I try to make it more of an art than anything else. A natural rhythm of music that enhances the dance for me!

Risa-san, your explanation of your impression of kendo brought tears to my eyes. Kendo has a way of bringing out my personality, too, and inner spirit. Just thinking about kendo gives me the strength to make difficult decisions and be severe with others when needed, as well as stay focused, calm my mind, and much more. I think you really understand kendo from your explanation. 🥰

3:11 never ever do this or you will have lived the longest part of your life!
The tip of the shinai never touches the floor. Putting or even resting on the sword and especially on the swords tip is a NO GO. We got punished for doing so.

Yeah, we all know that Risa is something! She's very good doing this kind of cultural presentation with teaching! We all like Risa a lot! A wonderful and natural personality!
But, we cannot forget the guys in the background! Video edition is great! I mean, it's AWESOME! it suit with Risa personality very well! It could be a girly or childish content, but it's very well maded content for everyone! The redators and camera, too!
    Well done, guys! Well Done!
The japanesepod101 is helping me a lot to learn japanese once for all! Learned to read Katakana and hiragana in one week. I use other apps, too, but this channel helps me a lot!
Here two things i think you guys could talk about:
    - Tokio Olyimpics foreign volunteering
    - And the very likely japanese sport!
KARAOKE! You guys know that we want to see Risa singing, right? Right! :D
Show us where to find good karaoke in Tokio! The habits for a good Karaoke Jam e everything more!
I'd like to end this saying thanks to you, guys! Because i'm learning in the fastest, the easiest and in the most fun way! Keep it up, please!
    Greetings From Brasil!

From what I’m seeing this isn’t like the swordsmanship that was used back in the time of samurai, the blades back then were very brittle due to the high amount of carbon and the multitude of folding the brittle steel in the blade’s production, so these warriors tried to avoid blocking another blade with their own as it would do more ham than good, damaging the blade. So they were always going for kill shots and honing their skills so they never drag out the battles in order to keep their blade sharp and intact.

We also have kendo in the Philippines. Some 5th to 7th rank sensei always visit and teach us how to do the right way of kendo. And the first time for me was like this also(except the laughing and giggling, they were strict). But despite the pain, I still continue doing kendo. Most of the people who do kendo here don't have rankings yet because we have to go to hongkong if we want to take the test.

It's been said that good kendo practitioners aren't always good real sword fighters.
They require different mind set and technique.
For example, Kondo Isami, the leader of Shinsen-gumi(Assassin group hired by the Tokugawa regime in mid-1800s) was known as a lousy kendo practitioner but once he had the real sword in his hands, he was unbeatable, at least that's what the legend says.
But that doen's mean practicing Kendo doesn't add anything positive to the real sword fight, it does.
