I'm part cherokee. I grew up in a house with many baskets just like these. I never knew they were traditional, nor that they were made from buck brush. They were just storage vessels & decor to me. Something I figured were bought in a store like pier 1 or walmart my whole life. My family never taught me much of the old traditions & of my heritage, & learning them from this channel has been such a blessing. Whoever is posting these videos, thank you. I'm a grown man, over 30 - & This video brought tears to my eyes. Brought memories back of my mother & grandmother, & their houses, & their baskets. You've provided me with inspiration by sharing this knowledge. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I'll be learning how to make these. I'll pay it forward & teach anyone willing to listen. Wado.

The full vhs tape, she states she used other material but that buck brush grew in her back yard. Even the dye she used grew where she was at. She was blessed to have knowledge and know how to put it together. There's a collector out there that tries to buy out the remainder of the baskets from the family.
