  • This video demonstrates how to conduct and interpret a Levene’s Test of Homogeneity of Variances in Microsoft Excel. The result of the Levene’s Test in Excel is identical to the result found using SPSS.

I prefer using Excel compared to SPSS, primarily because I am extremely unfamiliar with the latter. As I was watching this video, I found it to be straightforward to follow and used "normal" language (as opposed to overly scientific). Overall, this was a great way to explain how to conduct a Levene's Test in Excel and will be beneficial for me in the future.

Thank you very much, I found this very helpful and I appreciate the effort you've put into making the video. Onward with analysis!

Before this I never heard of a Levene's test. This video provided a clear explanation of what it is and how to calculate the test.

This was my first time hearing Levenes test also. Seeing it used in SPSS was extremely useful.

this was also my first time hearing about it, i can see how this can be a useful tool but i am still over whelmed by it. I may have to watch i a few more times.

Lavene's test is interesting and the video makes it easier to understand. This video helped me understand how and why I would use the test to accept or reject the null hypothesis regarding the assumption of homogeneity.

I agree, the SPSS videos rarely go into the detail needed to make the calculations without the software. This video made it so much easier to understand how one would make these calculations themselves and reject/accept the null hypothesis of homogeneity of variance

I certainly found this video helpful in being able to interpret the null hypothesis, specifically analyzing whether it can be accepted or rejected. The instructions were clear and helped me to understand how to determine differences between the means.

Jacklin Skibicki I agree, this video was very helpful and made it easier for me to understand the concept of accepting or rejecting the null hypothesis.

It was instrumental in learning how to accept or reject the null hypothesis. That is an important part of research

I definitely see where this video is helpful when you don't have access to SPSS but Excel certainly makes this process more difficult and confusing on its own. I think the hardest part is just that there is no label for "Levene's test" which makes you have to really know what you are doing with Excel or follow step by step with this video!

Very easy to follow and very useful as an explanation for Levene's test. I agree with others in that SPSS seems more straightforward, but alas, we all do not have access to SPSS.

I found this video to be a good reminder for me of what the Levene's test is at what it tells us about the data. Overall, this is a helpful and fairly easy to follow video.

Mandy Moore I agree. Definitely somewhat easy to follow. Although I don't have previous knowledge of or experience with this type of test, this video made it easy to understand.

Prior to this video I never heard of Levenes test or what it's purpose is. I am still a bit puzzled regarding its function but it was great to see it visualized in the video.

I am not the best with Excel but I had no idea that it could do this. I didn't know before watching this video what a Levene's test was but it is very interesting and I can see how useful this can be. A lot of information to follow but I like how the video layed out the steps

Simple, easy to follow. Still seems less efficient than SPSS where these tests appear to be part of the statistical tool pack. I love excel, but having watched both, I am sold of SPSS for overall functionality on statistical analysis.

Please, please, please, please help me. How can I use a Levene's test for a multivariate dataset? In other words, how do I calculate a total variance of a group when each member of the group has a number of variables? Each group has the same variables recorded, but different number of members. I want to test if there is more total variation in Group A than in Group B while taking into account 20 different variables for each group. I am not a statistician so I have been searching online for days trying to find the appropriate procedure. Someone please help me.

All after computing the means for treatment group and control group, I got a little confused. I know you have to do whatever you did to one to the other.

Sherrie Tilghman Yes, I was also getting a little lost. Like I said in my comment on the video, not having the actual Levene's test built into the program makes this a great deal harder to follow.
