    Thanks guys! Great to hear such interesting opinions. We’re older ftb’s with a decent deposit but have been top trumped by cash buyers on the last 2 houses we’ve tried to buy. Feels impossible out there at the moment!

    Inflation is here. Governments don’t want interest rate rises, but it will happen ask banks tighten lending and offset mortgage revenue losses. Furlough and stamp duty holiday will end. Housing Supply will increase and yet the buyers won’t be there due to interest rate uncertainty and lending criteria. I can’t see a plateau in house prices, but a crash. Boons always correct and a bust is inevitable

      Outrageous.
      You now have to compete with the mortgage lender in the housing market.
      Lloyd’s are claiming the low interest rates on mortgages are forcing them to buy residential property to rent out to the general population.
      Good luck everyone.

    I can't believe more people aren't watching these videos. I think they are great. One undervalued reason why I think the market it in such a boom is that people are bored! They are sat at home with nowhere to really go or spend their money on so it's easy to dream about moving to a lovely new house. Browsing Rightmove can be addictive. That's until they find out the brutal reality of the market and how competitive it is!
    That was our experience anyway.

    What they avoided to talk about was that in the mid 90s with the high rates property prices crashed in response. But then that happened based on a higher starting points of rates. This time rates are so low that even the most modest increases are dramatic percent changes... There is a study of the BoE from a few months back forecasting 20 pct house price falls per rate increase pct pt. Good luck remortgaging in 5 y time.

    Putting out a survey asking people if they want to move doesn’t show that demand for houses are rising. It’s like asking would you like a Ferrari that does determine demand for Ferraris. If you allow people to buy 5% mortgages at such a low rate your asking for trouble.

  • @redacted629
    @redacted629 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think cautiously when, in a recession, house turnover excellerates (and therefore prices rise quickly). If these are favouring 1st time buyers then there is a risk of foreclosures and defaults when the prices correct themselves and 1st time buyers pull out too soon.

    9.08: The young don't earn enough to buy my little city ( no outside space) flat. So someone like me is stuck and cant buy up the ladder. I fit a certain demographic and London is full of us. . I'm a middle aged single woman on single income non permanent work contracts. Many times I regretted buying. My age group is not going to be earning more but less. We cant get up the ladder -yet we occupy the decent well built first time buyer properties. What this means in reality is a wider gulf and between upper middle class and lower middle class and eventually stasis. Thanks for the video though.

    • @Insecthouse

      In my opinion I believe banks and hedge funds with REIT portfolios are waiting for this.
      If they deal directly with estate agents they get first refusal on property before it goes on the market.
      I don’t think the price of property will concern them as much as the fact it’s coming on the market as I believe they just want to scoop everything up and hold it as long term rental.
      Pretty sure they can out bid anyone.
      I hope I’m wrong.
