Great video. Really interested in the m2 as it better fits into my budget even though the x4m in the sao paulo yellow is my dream car. It’s just a bit too much $. I guess my main concern is the lack of AWD, but a lot of reviewers mention how grippy the m2 is, assuming you’re not being reckless on bad road conditions.
If you live in an area that has bad weather and only have 1 car, just save up and get the x4m. However, if not, the M2 is AMAZING!
@@JVette01 I live in the south. Where I am at, it rarely snows.
Then you’d be just fine with the M2. It gets very good traction for a RWD car and the traction control keeps it in check
please do more of these ! Also can you try testing you the sound system in the next one? I am in the market for an M2, but I just haven't found one yet to hear the sound system on it

Just sold my 2020 Supra, I wanted a manual and an S58. Supposedly the “new” GRMN Supra would have this but I don’t wanna pay close to 100k for it. Seems like I’ll be picking up an M2 soon

Great breakdown. Saw a black one on the highway last night, they look amazing while cruising! Only the second one I’ve ever seen - seems like it has many more creature comforts than the Supra
the seats are soooo good, u just dont want to get out even when parked lol
I recently got a xhp transimission tune for my M240i, and oh man, what a difference compared to stock (which I originally thought was already awesome enough). Highly recommend XHP.
If I tune it in the future, I'll definitely be looking into that!

Which is a shame because the DCT is a better transmission in a performance car.
Nope. M2 is safe and sound in the garage haha
When the ZF is in full 3/3 speed, it shifts like a DCT. When it's 1/3, it shifts butter smooth. It's the best of both worlds.

I'm curious about how the M2 rides over bump and rough roads?
I also wonder how well the m2 puts the power down?
My experience with a stock 21' M4 comp rwd wasn't great. The ride was very unforgiving, and it blow the tires off everywhere with traction control off. Traction control on would mitigate tire spin, but was very intrusive, pulling all the boost and power, basically no fun.
Xdrive the only way to with the m4, unless you're into drift events
1. M2 is a firm ride, even in comfort mode, but it’s not ridiculously harsh like a focus rs.
2. Mine puts the power down surprisingly well. Traction control is a little intrusive but even with it off it might slide a little but hook and go.

The m4 with everything off somehow had worse traction than a hellcat on worn tires and not even on cold roads.
I'll be test driving an M2 to see for myself once I actually find a used one to try out. I wouldn't be able properly test drive a new one because, as you know, the s58 has the mandatory specific engine break-in process.
I thought the exhaust would make more sound. That dash is straight out of a new Mustang, which sucks. Im sure it's the cheaper way to make it, but it shows a real lack of design imagination, and I expected mire at this price point. The car seems to drive well though. Thanks.
BMW had this dash before Ford did.. and besides, it looks very sharp and works great

I love a good manual, but the manual in this car and many other modern cars leave a lot to be desired. There is nothing fun about rev-hang either.

Manual limits you building or tuning meaning you have to replace the clutch early on. Automatic allows you to go up and not tune the transmission as quickly

Don't tell BMW how much you like the transmission algorithm or they will change it. I complained once about the piano black getting dirty and they started using it as exterior lower trim where it gets dirty with every drive.

I’m surprised how well it stayed planted during that pull! I want one of these and I’m not the most experienced speed driver so I was a bit worried of the 450+ hp with RWD. Awesome video!

M240i is good to with 382+ hp and it’s cheaper
with a few tunes this can bring 600hp 3,3 0-60

@@JVette01 It is tuned? I think Car and Driver say Z4 has better lapped time in Nurburgring and the 0-60 is two-tenth of a second faster for M2.

Well, if you’re talking about a track, then sure there’s several factors. As far as straight line speed though, m2 beats both significantly stock for stock

I have a M2 2024, and it drives great but I hate the steering wheel it feels like heavy and hard to turn compared to other steering wheels, also in full sport mode it takes too long to shift gears from going 0-60 in everything sport. But this car handles soooo goood and looks really great. I have standard leather seats and their pretty uncomfortable but that’s my only complaints!

That’s only if the shift setting is in the most aggressive mode. #2 is a good mode if you don’t want it to hold gears too long and shift hard.

How much fuel does it use on the highway going like 80 in comfort im from europe and gas is expensive so it is one of the deciding factors for me?
I usually get mid 20's if im just cruising on the highway

Save the manual ! There need to be more paint colors and interior choices. Beautiful car tho. This is coming from a C7 Corvette M7 supercharged owner. :)

I’m not interested in it. The auto is so good in this car it would be foolish not to get it. Along with the several other benefits of going with an automatic. I also race this car pretty often and manual is too inconsistent and doesn’t make sense.
@@JVette01 No, it's a generation thing. Young guys like you are killing the manual to be a tenth of a second faster. Pressing on a gas pedal takes no skill, and it isn't fun. I have a Hemi in my Jeep Grand Cherokee for that, my sports cars aren't going to be an auto. Otherwise, I'd have a C8 Corvette right now.
But if you enjoy the auto, that's great! But young guys are killing the manual sales. And a lot of younger guys don't get taught how to drive a manual.
No one looks in my Vette too see if it's an auto. They want to see if it's a stick.
It’s because people that prefer automatics don’t care if you buy a manual but manual fanatics are always concerned with someone’s transmission choice. I appreciate manuals but I’m just not interested in modern cars. Pre 2015, sure.
Nice video. What are your thoughts comparing the M2 to the Mk8 Golf R? My wife has a 2012 Mk6 GTI Autobahn 2-door DSG with the APR Stage 1 we purchased new in October of 2011. She loves the vehicle but we are now looking at replacing it. She is the frugal one of the bunch since my car is 18 BMW M5 purchased new in August of 18 when I transitioned from a 15 BMW M3 F80 also purchased new. I am pushing her towards the M2 but she wants the Golf R and we have been on a list for a year this months for a Golf R at MSRP. Dealers in SOCAL are marking up the Golf R anywhere from 5k - 20k. We still have 3 people in front of us for Mk8 Golf R with the auto transmission.
If you’re open to out of state, I know someone that could probably get you a good price and have a couple on the lot. I’ll make a video comparing the golf and m2 so stay tuned!
Hey JVette01. You mentioned you had a mustang.. How is the M2 vs the stang as far as comfort?
Mustang has a softer ride and a little more comfortable seats but the space is very similar between both
Why didnt you get the manual? If only to keep the number of purchased manuals up so BMW continues to make them in the future

Why would you want an antique transmission that is a performance downgrade?
I’m not sure if O missed this on the video, but how does the suspension feel on this car? Is it bumpy and gets uncomfortable after a while, and also how are the driving dynamics of the M2, I heard in this video that it handles very well and its torque is high, but will this car fishtail if you put to mich power to it ? Im asking because if I wanted to do a highway pull, what will happen I’m planning on buying an M2 and replacing my G80 M3
The traction is very good in this car. Suspension is a little on the rougher side but if you drive it daily you’d probably get used to it

Yes. I like it but just for the dark headlights. I’d honestly prefer the chrome exhausts
What's your impression of the HK sound system in the M2?
Fantastic sound system. Great clarity, base, and doesn't rattle the interior.
I like your videos, very informative, do you have a "night drive" video? If not you should make one, always nice to see night drives to see the interior displays, ambient lighting and road views under headlights.

A lot of cars have plastic. However, I’ve had no issues with mine in the 5k miles I’ve had it so far

Not sure. Height wise for sure, and it feels spacious for me but I’m not nearly as heavy so I’d suggest testing it out

No issue with m3 so i dont expect m2 to be worst, in fact due to the fact it is detune, i suspect the engine will be even more reliable.
No issues with the entire car , sensor etc.. n no issue with engine oil too… must be disappointing reply to some😅

It's subjective. So often any type of 'new' design direction in any area, not just limited to cars, is often very divisive. Then enough time passes and opinions shift. I have a design background and design is so much about evolution and bold decisions that are often so far forward it takes time for people to get used to these shifts. I'd rather see design teams push their work into new spaces and take said risks rather than play it safe, and I think the car is beautiful. But, I'm a designer and I better understand what they did from the past generation to this, so it just makes more sense to me.
