      Not from a business perspective. They got rid of a popular but old ride but they added multiple new attractions in its place with lower maintenance overhead. New attractions sell more tickets.

      Over 100 years old? It's probably closed for a much needed remodeling in that case. Wooden coasters can only last so long before the wear and tear makes them unsafe to operate.

    • @kevinthompson6986
      @kevinthompson6986 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wood coasters get Rebuilt all The Time Don't Know what you talking about This left For The Waterpark,,,,,if you look how Paramount's ran the park I also heard That The employees were Telling them they couldn't find Log Flume Parts anymore

    • @VestedUTuber
      @VestedUTuber 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kevin Thompson
      Of course wooden coasters get retracked and retrofitted with new mechanics many times during their life cycle, but there's also the support structure that you need to think about. That wears out too, and when that wears out it's a good time to consider a full rebuild. Often times parks will use that as a chance to redesign the ride as well - like how Colossus became Twisted Colossus.

    I grew up 1 hour from Kings Island. When I moved to Charlotte & went to Carowinds I thought, "Hey, cool, they have a replica of The Racer here!" Well, except that unlike The Racer, it looked like Carowinds spent maybe $10 on paint. 😁 I'm partial to wooden coasters, having grown up riding The Beast. Steel coasters are fine, but I'm especially fond of wooden ones.

    Back in 1973 when I was 7 years old, this roller coaster threw me out of my seat! After the first drop, it threw me up and I was sitting on top of the head rest. I couldn't fold my legs to get them back underneath the leg bar. A white woman sitting behind me reached forward and pushed my butt, and I flopped back in the seat. I thanked her when the ride was over.

    • @meaganwallwork5395
      @meaganwallwork5395 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That sounds scary. I remember riding this when I was probably 12 and realizing during the ride the attendant hadn't checked that my seat belt was secure. The lap bar was still there but the metal seat belt came up and was hitting me, and I came out of my seat a little bit.

    • @VestedUTuber
      @VestedUTuber 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you could actually get thrown out of the seat like that, you were probably too short to ride.
