- In this episode, I was in the midst of remodeling the stone fireplace in my cabin when another storm unexpectedly swept through the area. As the heavy rain continued, I couldn't help but wonder if I might be trapped in the valley due to a potential landslide. Italy, after a prolonged drought, now faces the challenges of flooding.

Bless you Alex, You should seriously think if you really want to live there cuz its going to continue to happen. As long as you take the necessary precautions while you are their and hope that things will get better. Beautiful country. You might want to build up the roads to be safe cuz you will continue to have water and snow if you intend to live there. I love the rain and i think that after the drought its a blessing to have water and yes its going to flow big time. God bless you in your journey.
Yes, you are right, the road is in the plans, but first of all we want to make the first unit of the cabin, the smallest part, structurally stable. The point is to live there, but when you start living in a place that used to be abandoned you realize you have a thousand things to do all at the same time. Paradoxically, it is difficult to prioritize, because the roof is important, but thermal insulation is also important, transporting materials...it's a challenge, a beautiful challenge

Hello Alex! The terrible situation that occurred in Emilia Romagna resulted in cancelled roads, loss of life, and devastated homes. Therefore, the situation that happened to you is not as terrible in comparison. In the mountains, situations like this occur frequently and can often be worse, thankfully the road remained passable. You should try to get accustomed to it and not lose hope. Consider this a baptism by the mountain and the rain, next time you will be less terrified and more prepared. The ancient people were wise in their placement of settlements, I can see that everything has held up well despite the circumstances. However, there is an obvious need for ongoing maintenance mainly the road.
Hi Domma, I absolutely agree with you, my area hasn't been hit as seriously as Emilia Romagna. You know, I'm sorry to get the message that I sounded terrified, because I wasn't. I was worried about the road because here in Italy the hydrogeological instability and the lack of maintenance of every infrastructure is truly absurd. By now everything has been let go even if the new government is now trying to recover as much as possible.
I was worried because the forest police had issued a landslide alert. The terrain here is very particular, I know the mountain very well, I know what rain means in the mountains, but when you see water coming out of the center of the rock, it means that the terrain has been eroded and does not hold the stones together even if you can't see anything out of the ordinary. There have been landslides near me, I was just concerned about doing the wise thing for my wife who is far away and working to allow me to make this dream come true, for me because I was really running out of batteries and dry clothes.
Thanks for pointing this out to me, I didn't want to sound melodramatic, I just wanted to give the message to be wise.
I have faith in the house construction site, I know that in the past people were wise to build things.

Hai potuto testare geologicamente il sito dove hai la baita…. Dai video si notano ampie zone con roccia fratturata e accumuli che potrebbero attivarsi… comunque la cosa buona è che innanzitutto se li hanno costruito probabilmente lo hanno fatto con la conoscenza storica del sito, poi per l’acqua avrai potuto verificare con questo evento se la baita può accusare ingressi idrici o meno e quindi farne tesoro per eventuali sistemi di allontanamento. Sempre attento a queste esperienze pericolose …
Sì, proprio così. Ci sono parecchi lavori da fare lungo la strada per scendere dalla collina, ho un punto dove si è ristretta di circa 30 40 cm per un cedimento. E' stato certamente molto utile, sotto questo punto di vista 💪🙏 comunque sempre attento, quando è stata diramata l'allerta meteo e rischio di frane, ho preferito uscire dalla valle e aspettare la fine delle piogge

I absolutely agree with you, but it had been raining for several days and the forecasts weren't improving, plus the forest police had warned of landslides, it was better to evacuate for a couple of days 😖
