so many times that I saw this concert and I had never seen the exact moment when JL fell, JP made a good gesture for his friend and partner in joining the fall
@@mhc9526 Unfortunately, LATM is not a fully live album - much of the vocals and some instruments (guitar, mainly) were re-recorded in the studio because of equipment issues and that James had a cold that night. This is 100% live
I am shameless in saying I prefer LaBrie's vocals pre-Awake. But. BUT... His handling of the last part of the song in this performance is BEAUTIFUL! The altered "I'm in the valley" caught me totally off guard... His inflection and break/flip on "seven CHIMES I hear" sound almost like Dominici - but powerful! He NALIS the jump from "race to the" to " walls". I can hear the shape of his mouth in this performance so much better than older recording I've listened to; and sure, those did have a god-like power to his delivery, but not the clarity and inflection he's getting across here. It's a totally different mood from the studio version, from older live versions... and it's good!
My favorite song on the first album and has to be a tie as my #1 favorite Dream Theater song with maybe 3 dozen or so other Dream Theater songs. I really like how great live versions of this song are and how different the arrangements are.
Craig Small Don’t count on it, the band seems to disown that era for some reason. Besides Labrie can’t sing WDADU songs to save his life, Dominici is WAY better on those
Check out their DVD which is the 20 or 15 year anniversary of When Day & Dream Unite. They even have Charlie Dominici singing live with them. First time in over 15 years.
My favorite petrucci tone era. Roadking. Both g3 and the lives from 2004 through 2006 were spectactular tonewise. Not that he had shit tone before, it's just my preference :D EDIT So pissed they didn't show john myung solo near the end.
Yes. I would barely miss a tri-state (NY, NJ, CONN area) appearance back in the days going to nearly the beginning. G3 tone at MSG Theater (formerly Felt Forum) slayed like crazy. Maddi played a chord or two, open ones like they do, before the show. Right then and there - floored.
It is similar and I definitely hear how you can write that, with the clean single notes ringing out and all, complete with open notes. It's a JP staple.
Obviously he sounded way better back then, as he was younger, his voice wasn't as strained from all the concerts and there was no food poisoning back then either. But to say that in this video his voice is embarassing.. then what would you comment about the Systematic Chaos era? He was still decent sounding here, I'd even say good, but that's just my personal opinion.
Stefano is obviously a new DT fan. Prob has a picture of Mangini on his wall. Few comments.... Around the time of Score, James changed his vocal to use throat voice instead of full or chest voice to stabalise his voice and allow him to manage gruelling tours. He was also in his 40's by this time and with decades of tour damage and the food poisoning which also did damage. What James did in 92/93 was insane, he attempted things not seen before and unfortunately the human vocal chords just cant manage that day after day.. Personally I think this was an excellent effort on one of DTs most difficult songs. Maybe research things before throwing out stupid comments.
@@MrChrisRP no I don't and I don't have to... I'm not the star here ... live at the marquee was awesome. Compared to that this sounds like it was played by 5 year old rockers
Wow, this is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!
JP laying on the floor after Jame's fall got to be the best... !
JP is a great friend! Lol

I swear new is good too
Yup.
@@VHDT10With Mike portnoy back on the band so yeah
DT are WDADU, I&W, Awake, ACOS and SFAM. That's all. This is one of their best song (better performed in Live at Marquee, 1993)
I love how you can distinguish the time of the performance by Jordan's hair and beard.
Hahaha true. For me, I zone out when the silly hats, keytars and swiveling keyboard era begins.
"hair"
@@Nickolaars LOL i cant lie i love the keytars and swiveling keyboard
I love this version but in live at the marquee it is much better
Live at the marquee is their best live

His voice will never be the same, but the man works with what he’s got. 🙌🏽
I like the fact that when Labrie fainted Petrucci also fell to the floor to not make him feel alone or ashamed to fall in that moment
James is awesome here ♥️♥️
Thank you for the live recording.🙂
Esta versión y la de live at the marquee son espectaculares!
show must go on !!!! Go James !!!!
This is incredible!!! Can’t believe I’ve never heard it..
What a great band!!!! No matter what happen to... "together we stand, together we fall" astonishing true!

Thanks guys for give's Music
I was at the Marquee (live cd) this comes close, the real DT as it should be🤘
The best version is in Live at the Marquee. Real DT are the ones up to SFAM
Muito bom essas músicas ❤
best version of the song!
Thanks Chris! Never heard that one before

The fact that Petrucci throw himself in the ground after James fall... lmaooo
John mocking James at 5:22?
We never gonna know, probably
This great moment will not happen again..RIP DT

James shaking cocktails during the intro.. :p
Hahahahaha ... awesome
the best solo 11:08
What happend ?.
In the minute 4:58, james labrie faints
Yeah I was also wondering
He just tripped. Whenever James trips John usually joins him on the ground as a running gag.
dissatisfiedgamer It is part of the band. his sense of humor. :D
Labrie falls down tangled with cables and dragged to Petrucci with him. They saved very well the song, almost imperceptible.
Oh i get it. You are argentina ?
2:40 portnoy spit on petrucci... :D
Fantastic flip flop on the 2 songs. It was a seamless mix.
They did another version for the intro called Another Hand, instead of playing the original intro. I like Another Hand better than the Original intro
LaBrie died in 4:57
Masterpiece

Why does the camera guy hate myung?
This os real DT
Damn, they show absolutely nothing of Myung's solo at the end.
Oh cameraman, see myung doing bass solo 12:50
I glad to see his hair
KEVIN MOORE!
Might as well Vinnie Moore too, then. -shrugs- heh :)

Is it just me, or does this have an almost identical beginning as „Count of Tuscany“?

Sounds like the ideas from this went into that section of COT. Like how the rock discipline jam went into Gemini

Why did James fell? Water on stage?
Either heat exhaustion or light-headedness.
