I got this phone new with Chinese ROM. As it is intended for the Chinese market, this makes sense. However, I live in Europe and would like to unlock the bootloader and flash the EU ROM. Is this no longer possible or still doable after recent restrictions by Xiaomi?

How's the quality of the front facing camera? Is it possible to compare it to the iPhone 14 that seems to have announced improvements to the front facing camera ? It's very important to some people like myself for video calls.
does the 12s have the 35mm/50mm/90mm portrait zoom modes, like the 12s Ultra does? my 12s on the EU rom doesn't. I'm wondering if the stock Chinese rom is supposed to have them?
Thank you for the review, but for 12s serials, the biggest issue is lacking of the global or eu rom supporting, that's shame, but anyway, still bought it, hopefully the Pixel Experience would add this device into their lists

I agree on compact phones. I prefer smaller phones under 6.2", no bricks and tiles that dont fit in a pocket.
Thanks for talking about cameras more which is the most important of this 12S series as it's basically the same specs as 12 series with few changes.

Would be nice if Xiaomi release an official global rom for this device. At least we can buy it from China and install the Global Rom.
