Being a fan of this series for almost a decade starting with playing Flashpoint on an old beat up PC barely able to run Windows 98 let alone the game, this brings me unimaginable joy

Anyone who has played dynamic arma scenarios on their own knows how OP it can be to sit with a sniper rifle plinking at enemy soldiers that look from afar as though theyre standing in a barren field of dirt.
Arms 2 OA is still my most played game on steam, possibly ever, around 7-800 hours, rocket league is close to overtaking though and it’ll be quite a sad day when OA isn’t at the top anymore
I don't understand it! After playing all of the ArmA games A2 with all the bugs & bad performance is still my go to game. I've got over 10K hours in it and me and my group still play every Friday & Saturday night like clockwork. We've tried so many times to move on to another ArmA or some other game, but we just keep landing back on A2. I love to support the company and I buy everything Bohemia puts out for ArmA. A3 was impressive and now AR look amazing, but I truly feel I'm going to still be playing A2 on my death bed as an old man lol. BI I just want to say do with A4 whatever helps the company the most and I will still buy it, but my heart is still with A2!
Yeah I only got a PC last year and spent my teenage years and early 20's watching ARMA pc videos on youtube. So I have alooot of ARMA 3 content to catch up on until 4 releases lol Any suggestions on where to start would be appreciated btw :D
@@sponggg_7096 I'm sorry what other title in the world does what ARMA does, at its scale, better? Simple put, it exists in its own Genre of MilBox and only things like DCS start getting close. Easy to say Squad has better framerate when its map is like 1/10th size and no AI units.
@@xSP3CTREx just because it's the only game doesn't mean it cant be bad, I have almost 3k hours on arma 3, but I'm still not gonna sit here and pretend there's nothing wrong with the game, the fact that BI took this long has nothing to do with "developing a new engine is hard". It is hard but it's not 10 years hard. There are many, many things wrong with the game, some of them easily fixable, yet still not fixed, some are a result of the engine, probably unfixable, hence why the new engine should have come out 3-4 years ago already (just look at the damn physics, and name a game of the same era with worse physics). BIS had absolutely no plans for the future or coordination when they began working on arma 3, they really only started getting their shit together around the time apex came out.
I can't be the only one who thinks Operation Arrowhead deserves its own "soldier running" bit... ArmA 2 set the groundwork but it was Arrowhead that introduced many of the features we still enjoy today like the backpack system that formed the very basis of the DayZ mod. I would argue ArmA today wouldn't enjoy nearly as much success if it weren't for that expansion truly capitalizing on the success of A2 and pushing the engine as far as it could go, it was such a unique experience I dare say I'd even consider it a complete game on its own.
It was considered a "standalone expansion" wasn't it? iirc it was basically it's own game that brought in vanilla Arma 2 assets and could play on Arma 2 servers but you could play AO missions without owning Arma 2. May be remembering wrong but yea pretty sure it should have had it's own running scene was basically it's own game lol.
I got slightly emotional when the Reforger soldier stepped out to stare into the distance. Music was perfect. Thank you so much Bohemia for the endless hours of joy, focus, laughs and memories. A dedicated fan since the Operation Flashpoint demo.
This game, this series, hits me with such incredible amounts of nostalgia, I was a kid running on a charity shop copy of Cold War Crisis so I missed everything in-between that and Arma 3 and now I'm reliving the same island, same uniforms but in such a beautiful environment. I can't wait to ruin it with PTSD.
With 3k hours on arma 3, 500 hours on arma 2, I immediately bought arma reforger within an hour of the release trailer. arma 3 was the first game I bought when I got my first gaming pc and has seen every upgrade along the way. This is the best game series to date.

One of my best and most vivid childhood memories was from around 2002 when i saw my grandpa showing opflash (pretty sure resistance hadn't even come out yet) to his in-laws. he was playing the single mission "Steal the Car". That sparked a literal lifetime of enjoyment of these games, from the massive mod packs which were like christmas anytime I downloaded them to the amazing multiplayer which i didn't even try until arma 3. lots of good times wrapped up in these shooters. I wish my old grandpappy coulda been around long enough to see how far the series has come.
Realizing that I've played your games for the last two decades makes me feel pretty old. Despite the bugs, the glitches, the dubious physics and animations of the series, they were glorious.
It just feels like I saw ARMA 3 Alpha announcement first time. Could not comprehend the whole big change, but definitely felt amazing to see such a huge advancement.
OFP is what introduced me to this game. It's Editor, SP, MP... ArmA3 is my fav so far, and i Hope Arm4 becomes my new fav game of the Franchise. Every entry has been legendary and i am so, SO happy to see a new game being born in the family!!!
This series has defined who and what I am, and has truly changed me. I remember starting with Arma Combat Operations and being absolutely hooked into the realistic shooter. I now help run a group on Arma 3 for Warhammer 40k, but I CAN'T wait to see the armor of the imperium in such good graphics and a better system. Keep up the amazing work ya'all.
I would love to see a remake of the mission, "Escape", from Operation Flashpoint, but with the new lighting system in Reforger; that was probably one of the most intense gaming experiences that I have ever had, dodging enemy patrols and helicopters with spotlights, as the sun set. Years later I watched a walkthrough and realized I could have stolen guns and an attack helicopter instead of dodging bullets to get away and then cowering in the bushes as they passed nearby.
@@tehgoat4283 I have seen bricks be smoother than the movement in arma 3. This is a pretty good improvement in comparison, cause its actually smooth, you can change direction without it looking like you are a steel rod with legs like it would in arma 3 lol

I remember when I found Operation Flashpoint for the first time way back when I was still using my family Dell PC with a tube monitor and windows XP. That game truly set a new precedent for me in military games and shooters going forward. And the modding was fantastic, I’d never been so enamored with a game before thanks to the modding community it had. I never got to play Arma 3, played 2 until all my Laptops broke and eventually stopped when I moved to console. This, has been an unexpected and welcome gift, to a long time fan.
Yah mate i started with cold war crisis, spend lots of hours on mission editor, game was amazing but hard as hell, i think it was first massive open world game witch i played.
I started with opération flashpoint too, i was around 11 years old, french speaking child who didn't understand a word in english. Never finish the game, got traumatised by papa bear abandonning me, alone in this forest hunted by shilkas... Time for revenge.
I hope another Arma 3 or even DayZ Standalone story does not repeat again. Arma 3 is my most played game ever, one of the first games I ever played when I built my PC back in 2013. Best of luck to all the Bohemia Interactive team!
Honestly this is the one series that I've always enjoyed through my entire childhood and this video honestly brought a entirely new mix of emotions that I've never felt before. I'm sad it's been so long, but at the same time I feel a sense of Pride that I've been with the series for this long including its Alpha and beta builds and feel like I'm a personal part of this game's development.

I start playing Arma 3 and never get bored to play when I play with my friends. Even playing alone with AI or random server it’s still fun. I bought Reforger while I playing Mike Force with my friends yesterday and gift it to my friend who’s inspired me to play this game.
When Bohemia Interactive started out they called the game Operation Flashpoint Cold War Crisis then they came out with 2 DLC upgrades OFP Red Hammer and OFP Resistance. I am so happy they made ARMA Reforger because it is bringing a lot of old memories. I was so into OFP I went to public libraries to download mods so I could install them at home. I didn't have internet back in 2002/2003. I really hope Bohemia goes back to creating single player campaigns. Who can forget legendary Victor Troska and insane General Guba, Kowalski, David Armstrong....point is with memorable campaigns you immortalize Operation Flashpoint for decades. To all those who didn't play original Operation Flashpoint CWC (First ARMA) I strongly suggest you buy and play that game.
Im no graphics hoor but upon seeing that the game visually doesnt look very different from arma 3, I beg you BI, i dont care about AAA graphics but dont allow the ai to spot and shoot through the low-res vegetation. That issue ruined tanoa, which would otherwise be, in my opinion, the most fun map so far.
Yeah, the graphics don't matter, but the bugs and performance do. If they can fix the bugs and horrible performance, that will be worth it. Otherwise I'll just move on to another game.
Oh man I cant wait to see all these improvements on a full game. Quality of life improvements alone look to make this worth it. I'm also excited for this return to roots back to the "Cold War Gone Hot" theme that always makes for excellent gameplay.
The animations are more fluid... you can see it in DayZ standalone... it's a hybrid of the old engine and the new Enfusion engine I can tell you it's a lot less clunky and much more fluid and faster now... the animations and controls are way more responsive... and you PROPERLY vault over fences and climb walls and even buildings Vaulting in ArmA is literally an static animation that makes you noclip trough a fence... in DayZ you physically grab the fence and jump over... you do it properly instead of nocliping with a fancy animation lol 💀💀
It's not like our usual ArmA. No one has ever died from a bug!!! And to be honest, I hope that in the near future we will see the biggest revolution in the gaming industry of the Military milsim genre, expect tinny and lots of explosions from the gods of war and their artillery and the like that make your blood run cold My respect and best wishes to Bohemia Interactive for its employees and fans
I downloaded Operation Flashpoint via dial up, which had the delayed copy protection and blocked after a few hours of play. Bought it the next day. And I've got every other title since. Keep up the good work.
I mean, nothing is here yet. This is a teaser at best and shows nothing. It's just a confirmation that it exists and is being worked on. If looking at their games tells us anything, expect terrible performance on even high end rigs. Bohemia and performance optimizations is not in their vocabulary.
Can wait to get excited and spend hours getting mods and customizing my dude just to play for 30mins and get a bug/glitch that ruins it all! This is what I live for!
@@Draven.G DayZ uses an earlier version of the render engine used in this and runs far better than Arma 3. This also runs far better than Arma 3 and better than DayZ.

I spent countless hours on it escaping my life. It was an amazing time just because of that.
No issues with a spin off before Arma 4, I love Arma 3, setting and gameplay and I have no issue playing it for a few more years.

Yeah the demo was epic. People even created missions for it by decrypting the pbos and writing new missions completely from a text editor.
I use to mod the original demo of OpF creating missions and such. That's like in 2001, 21 or 22 yrs ago... Incredible

I would love to see a remake of the mission, "Escape", from Operation Flashpoint, but with the new lighting system in Reforger; that was probably one of the most intense gaming experiences that I have ever had, dodging enemy patrols and helicopters with spotlights, as the sun set.
Years later I watched a walkthrough and realized I could have stolen guns and an attack helicopter instead of dodging bullets to get away and then cowering in the bushes as they passed nearby.

@@tehgoat4283 I have seen bricks be smoother than the movement in arma 3. This is a pretty good improvement in comparison, cause its actually smooth, you can change direction without it looking like you are a steel rod with legs like it would in arma 3 lol

@@tehgoat4283 It’s great considering the range required for rendering and PIP scopes, two things that most other high visual fidelity games usually lack.
I remember when I found Operation Flashpoint for the first time way back when I was still using my family Dell PC with a tube monitor and windows XP. That game truly set a new precedent for me in military games and shooters going forward. And the modding was fantastic, I’d never been so enamored with a game before thanks to the modding community it had.
I never got to play Arma 3, played 2 until all my Laptops broke and eventually stopped when I moved to console.
This, has been an unexpected and welcome gift, to a long time fan.
Yah mate i started with cold war crisis, spend lots of hours on mission editor, game was amazing but hard as hell, i think it was first massive open world game witch i played.
I started with opération flashpoint too, i was around 11 years old, french speaking child who didn't understand a word in english. Never finish the game, got traumatised by papa bear abandonning me, alone in this forest hunted by shilkas... Time for revenge.

I absolutely LOVE video transitions with games evolutions, these are THE BEST way to promove the evolution of the industry and even the brand.
I cant wait... being able to see what this began as and the fact I have played every game for hours, and now it has lead to this.

I hope another Arma 3 or even DayZ Standalone story does not repeat again.

Honestly this is the one series that I've always enjoyed through my entire childhood and this video honestly brought a entirely new mix of emotions that I've never felt before. I'm sad it's been so long, but at the same time I feel a sense of Pride that I've been with the series for this long including its Alpha and beta builds and feel like I'm a personal part of this game's development.

I start playing Arma 3 and never get bored to play when I play with my friends. Even playing alone with AI or random server it’s still fun.
I bought Reforger while I playing Mike Force with my friends yesterday and gift it to my friend who’s inspired me to play this game.
Looks great but performance and execution is key.

When Bohemia Interactive started out they called the game Operation Flashpoint Cold War Crisis then they came out with 2 DLC upgrades OFP Red Hammer and OFP Resistance. I am so happy they made ARMA Reforger because it is bringing a lot of old memories. I was so into OFP I went to public libraries to download mods so I could install them at home. I didn't have internet back in 2002/2003. I really hope Bohemia goes back to creating single player campaigns. Who can forget legendary Victor Troska and insane General Guba, Kowalski, David Armstrong....point is with memorable campaigns you immortalize Operation Flashpoint for decades. To all those who didn't play original Operation Flashpoint CWC (First ARMA) I strongly suggest you buy and play that game.

damn, the step forward from 3 to reforger is gigantic.
Im no graphics hoor but upon seeing that the game visually doesnt look very different from arma 3, I beg you BI, i dont care about AAA graphics but dont allow the ai to spot and shoot through the low-res vegetation. That issue ruined tanoa, which would otherwise be, in my opinion, the most fun map so far.
The graphics are a lot better than A3.
Yeah, the graphics don't matter, but the bugs and performance do. If they can fix the bugs and horrible performance, that will be worth it. Otherwise I'll just move on to another game.
Oh man I cant wait to see all these improvements on a full game. Quality of life improvements alone look to make this worth it. I'm also excited for this return to roots back to the "Cold War Gone Hot" theme that always makes for excellent gameplay.

Can't wait to be flying Hinds or F-15s in Arma Reforger. The Combined Arms is gonna be insane, I hope the Stance system is reworked to be more fluid.
The movement system is very similar to DayZ, which is a good thing in my opinion. Far less clunky than Arma 3.
The animations are more fluid... you can see it in DayZ standalone... it's a hybrid of the old engine and the new Enfusion engine
I can tell you it's a lot less clunky and much more fluid and faster now... the animations and controls are way more responsive... and you PROPERLY vault over fences and climb walls and even buildings
Vaulting in ArmA is literally an static animation that makes you noclip trough a fence... in DayZ you physically grab the fence and jump over... you do it properly instead of nocliping with a fancy animation lol 💀💀

I downloaded Operation Flashpoint via dial up, which had the delayed copy protection and blocked after a few hours of play. Bought it the next day. And I've got every other title since. Keep up the good work.

I mean, nothing is here yet. This is a teaser at best and shows nothing. It's just a confirmation that it exists and is being worked on. If looking at their games tells us anything, expect terrible performance on even high end rigs. Bohemia and performance optimizations is not in their vocabulary.
