  • Tamiya Grand Hauler TAM56334 with Tamiya MFC - Part 1 - First look, beginning the build and tips.
I was recently gifted a supremely special gift of a Tamiya Grand Hauler with the Tamiya Multi-Function Control Unit (MFC) TAM56511 to go into it by The RC Elf. So, this video is sponsored by the Elf. A Tamiya 1/14 scale semi-truck has been on my radar for many years now and now I am finally able to build one and since I am I will take you along to show you the process and let you know of any areas I found hard or confusing and tips to help you out if you decide to get one for yourself.
In this video I go through the kit really fast and then start building. I'll pop back as we go along to provide tips or things I found that could be confusing or potentially harder steps to explain them.
Thanks again to the RC Elf and let get into the video!

Something that I have always wanted, but could never afford.

Kind of the same here. It is totally worth making a savings plan for though! You don't need the sound unit, it adds to it but the truck itself is a ton of fun without it. A 1060 ESC, a crawler motor, some cheap servos and a $60 radio is all you have to have in order to get running. You don't have to get the motor either, the stock one works, just a little fast. Thanks for stopping by and checking it out!!

I tell ya, I have wanted one for a long time and It was an amazing gift! I can see more in the future, I've been looking at others and some builds I have seen are absolutely out of this world cool. I am already planning in my head my next adventure into semi trucks. RC Elf ids awesome and made dreams come true!

Ooh what a lucky boy you are and what a kind chap the RC Elf is! What a whopper of a kit this is. Should keep you busy for a while. Like you say a very much bigger project than your general RC. Have fun with the rest of the build :-)

I am super lucky and still kind in shock from it!!! RC Elf is amazing!! I am loving this build and even enjoying figuring out the fiddly bits and frustrating parts (wiring!). I am finding it hard to remember to hit the record button as I am so into the build!!! Thank for watching and taking the time to drop a comment!

7:32 the lost word enormous I say egantic i hate the word ginormous lol
You can tell a person is serious about RC when they have a servo tester lol I can't believe how cheap I got one off of eBay for and it actually works I've had it for years and it still works
Yep you put a comment at the end of this video too (I love them)

LOL, how about hugemungous? I need to get another servo tester as I stomped on mine recently! They are pretty cheap and easy to get.

@@AddamsPlayground I love hugemongous I might have to use that too sorry to hear about your tester but I wouldn't be too upset with myself if I did the same thing because they're so cheap

Just found your channel, I've been thinking about getting into building a kit similar to this. Look forward to watching the build subbed and liked and will continue.

If you enjoy building kits and detailed trucks I suggest getting one. I have enjoyed the whole build and I hope you may be able to pick a few pointers from the videos to help you out either making the decision or if you pull the trigger in helping you build yours! Thanks for watching, subscribing and the kind words!

It took a very generous gift from the RC Elf for me to get one. I put it off for years, like dozens of years! If you do get a chance to get one I completely recommend it. They are not as complex as you'd expect. I enjoyed building it more than any other kit so far. There are a lot of pieces but not too difficult. Thanks for watching!

Good on you RC Elf 👍🍻
Definitely a great kit to take your time and enjoy the build👌.
I used the i6x flysky on mine and it's really good, will be good to see how you set your controls up.
Looking forward to seeing the rest of the build mate👍🦘🇦🇺

Great video. I just purchased this as well. I was just curious what exact parts you recommended to make it run or where to order it from. I’m new to the RC game but definitely want to get into it. I’d appreciate any help.

I used the MFC unit for the esc but if you are not getting the MFC unit then a hobbywing 1060 or a 1080 work just fine for an esc for them (1080 is higher amp if you plan on pulling anything heavy, if not the the 1060 if fine. I used a slower motor than the stock one. A crawler type brushed 540 is a great option, 65-80 turn motor is great. These offer more torque and less speed. You don't need speed as the 3-speed trans will get you going fast enough! I used a Flysky FS-i6 radio for mine, very inexpensive but works perfect for these trucks. I thin a perfect resource for you is Bob from Hobbyconcepts-LLC, search for that and his cannel will show up, he is a wealth of knowledge on building and setting up these trucks. You can order parts and add-ons directly from him as well. Most of the online retailers sell some of the parts but you can also find them on Amazon too. It got the transmitter from Amazon, the rest I bought from Tower Hobbies or from Bob. Go check Bob's videos and make up you mind from there. I hope you have a blast building it. Just take your time and don't try to rush through any of it and it will turn out awesome!

Hey man I’ve hooked up all the wires and everything seems to be looking good except whenever I go forward it beeps and that light on the rear bumper comes on. But when I go in reverse it goes away. Does something seem backwards ?

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@mrtakedown8247 I think if you do the reset/calibrate on the MFC it should fix that. It is in the mfc manual but essentially you turn everything on and press the button on the MFC and it will shutdown, then you cycle through the stick movements on the controller and then it will know which direction the sticks are being moved and the correct sounds should be there.
