    Text by Armin Fuchs -
A light low in the east, -
As I lie there, it shows but does not move -
A light - as a thought, forgotten, comes again.
    The forest world is waking,
A thousand leaves are beginning to gleam.
    Later on, as I rise,
    It shows through the trees
And light the dark grey rock
    And something in the mind,
    And brings the quiet day,
    And tomorrow - tomorrow -
The light as a thought forgotten comes again -
And with it ever the hope of the New Day.

Some misunderstanding I think -- the text is by Ives himself, not Armin Fuchs.

Just what it sounds like -- waking up at sunrise, going for a walk and appreciating nature.

@@funnydude4567 I'm sure we all have a metaphorical reading we can bring to the surface meaning. If you think it's important, why not give yours, rather than simply asserting that the surface meaning is "not correct" (an answer that helps nobody)?

Sunrise was actually written in 1926, not 1921

Please change this as it is factually incorrect
