Thank goodness there's finally a substantive review of this game beyond X-Play's shallow "clearly only played 1 hour" bs. Unfortunately, you're doomed for disapointment in AI 3. Basically a prototype of Mana Khemia that had a lot of issues in storytelling through quest assignments.
And I thought my PS2 was done, well I was wrong, time to bust it back out once I track down a copy of this game. Anything involving item synthesis, complex combat, a freaking dragon and a fun plot needs to be on my shelf!
Sorry if it might be weird replying to a comment thats 7 years old lol, but I'm going through the same thing right now. Thought my days of buying new PS2 games were over.... until this last month. Just discovered the Atelier series with the Iris trilogy. I ordered the first game last month, played it for 3 weeks, and just beat it (literally an hour ago lol). Realized half way through eternal mana that I was gonna want to play the next instalment so I ordered it as well. I've only played the first 20 minutes so far, but can tell it's going to be another fun ride. It's crazy how much attention the old ps2 is getting after all these years, especially getting new games on it. I feel like lately I've been reminded exactly why I love playing video games and what a good feeling it is :)
A lady at a game store I shop at recommended these Atalier games!! Can't wait till I finish Dark Cloud 2 and give the iris series a spin!!!! Looks cute and fun!! I love Alchemy!!!! 💘
I hope you get to the Ar Tonelico ps2 games also by Gust. Everyone focuses on the juvenile inuendos, but there's so much good (especially AT2) if you can look beyond the obvious flaws.
I am VERY late to this video. I am also late to the Atelier series, however I have fallen in love. I picked up a used PS2 and found a copy of this game at a local store, yesterday. Now I just have to figure out how to hook the damn thing up to my HDTV without it being a muddy mess. Looking forward to playing this though. I absolutely love the art style of the characters.
hey what was the magic system like in that game? Was it like 2 where mana eggs gave you a list of magic to choose from or like 3 where you buy magic in stores
The japanese always predict the future, you wanna know why? Because they draw women that look like they're around their 20's but are actually 12. Isn't that the same way how modern day women look?

Im playing this game right now and have a great time.
I remember playing this along with Grandia Xtreme on the PS2, one of my favorite in the Atelier series.

Shame that you never play Ar Tonelico series. Beautiful soundtracks I tell you.
Never played this or the third, or Mana Khemia for that matter. Looks promising though, so I may have to hunt it down.

I remember playing this game years back ago. Now that I see this again, I must play it again :P

Same, just got this missed it back then, did you like it?.. Sure you figured it out by now, but Retro Scaler 2x 👍
The only one I know of like that (which has been translated to English) is Atelier Annie for the Nintendo DS.

How many people are on this channel making game reviews?
did they make this for the ds/3ds? They should. It looks fun
The Soundtrack is awesome!!
Seeious question: Do you have to play the second game before playing this one or can you just jump right into it?
I really hate the vicotorian style most if not all RPG games use.
Well, Atelier Iris 3 is EASILY the best in the series. The other can't compare. So if you ended up enjoying this, you will love the final episode.
