You have just put my mind at ease, as I’ve just put a deposit on a fully optioned Cupra Born here in Australia. I too am a self confessed petrol head and a reformed driver of course. But wasn’t sure the Born would deliver on the fun factor as it is a 2 tons of car and a single motor at that. But if your right it should tick all my boxes. I have one in white V3 77kw as my company car and I love it, you get used to the drive selector quickly as you only need B or D and reverse. Its very comfortable on long runs and if you turn everything off you can have some rear wheel drive fun with all the torque - range is good driving like an ICE still getting 3.5 miles per KW easily
How are you feeling about it one year on? It’s also offered to me as a company car, but I can still go for a regular petrol Octavia if I want too. But it’ll cost me more on tax
There is a black coloured Cupra nearby to me and it does look great. At the moment I’m heavily biased to noise so EV still misses the mark but on every other front it’s doing very well!
Yeah the sound makes so much difference to the way a car makes you feel. Hope more manufacturers do the Taycan and Etron GT route and make some unique sounds as I do think it works.
I took a test drive one a while ago and loved it. Like you I wanted it! Practicalities aside (and money not being an issue) I would buy it but there is no getting around the fact that the infrastructure simply isn't there yet and I don't want to have to be constantly fretting about where my next charge is coming from when on longer journeys. Price wise it is competitive within the electric car market but to say it is "reasonably" priced is a bit of a stretch in my view.
I have to agree with you on this, this is a late reply and funnily enough I am daily driving a Fiat 500 E which I love but its now parked outside the house with 13% range and can't use it other than to go to a charger which I don't have time to do. Yeah £43k specced up isn't reasonable. haha
Nice Review! I like your calm and eloquent way of expressing your thoughts. Makes the Video very thorough and well structured. Also the shots Look good and professional. The only Thing I noticed, was your way of using Superlatives ("absolutley", "very very", "really" etc.). Maybe cut that down, because it takes away of your credibillity to certain points and also lessens the things you actually like about the car. Then again just my opinion.

trow away the id blob on the steering wheel put in a more classic cockpit dashboard and trow away the rediculus sliding middle screen increase its size and add buttons and we can start talking. replace the system with a google based system that includes charging stopss. and we can start talking for now looks great outside on the inside it inherated all the id problems to bad! realy expecting more for a car that your going to drive for 8y (96m) for a low price of 55k or 573€ a month
You speak total sense, I would love a more standard instrument cluster. Maybe like a Taycan and yes get rid of the sliders. The car was honestly that good it does make you accept those failings. It is quite different from the ID inside tho, I drove one recently thinking it was the same kind of thing but of my, its a different car. Totally vanilla.
EVs can't really be described as a fad though can they? Fads are short-lived and EVs will be all that's available to purchase new in the not so distant future.

They are stunning little things! Starting to see more and more. I can imagine daily it without issue, good range and performance

Could be a good car to compare to the MG4. Apparently that’s one of the most fun electric cars.
