    This was an extremely helpful video. Thank you for explaining not just the "how" but the "why" of operating Origin. I continue to be amazed by how refined the product is and by the attention to detail that went into its design. I am also quite impressed by the qualilty of the educational videos from both the Ameican and German teams. I hope that Shaper will be able sustain this level of quality as the company grows.

    Guys, I am new to the Shaper. I would really appreciate a basic program on engraving that talks about bit choice, settings, and tips and tricks regarding the various font choices. I saw the program on the SLFs, but that program assumed the viewer already knew the basics. Thanks for considering this.

    Great video gentlemen! Many great tips. My two favorites are guiding the Origin inside vs. Outside when cutting around corners and the option for lifting Origin when scanning.

    One of your better video's. I have used my Origin for a few projects and have learned alot from this video. 1- i was not scanning properly. 2- setting a front grid vs back grid. 3- z touch. I have had issues with pine end grain and i could not get the z touch to work. I had to go off the workspace.
    Thanks guys for the info!!

    Good job guys. For me the advice about corners and dog bones will be most helpful going forward. ( 56 mins in)

    A small tip for creating a grid: the spindle does not have to be plugged into the shaper during the process. This saves a few steps. The contact is also recognized without contact to the power supply.

      I know but it's like a reflex action. :-) I wish there was an easier way to plug and unplug the spindle.

    My Pro Tip is to attach the bigger D36 Festool hose connection to Origin. Much better hold and more compact than the D27 hose connector.

    Very good tutorial, I am on the fence about getting one of your machines and wanted to ask if it is possible to make a full blind dovetail joint with the shaper origin? Br from Sweden

    I would like to fabricate a speaker cabinet out of 18mm thick 13-layer baltic birch. I'd love a video of cutting the panels of 18mm thick material. Maybe one or two sides of the cabinet and talk about how to start with 8'x4' sheet. ie: do you recommend rough cutting out panels before even beginning with the Origin.

    I have purchased tape rolls that are defective in that the dominoes are faint or missing (just plain white paper) and the tape thickness is thinner in places and rips. Also in these cases the stickiness is not good and doesn’t adhere. Seems like a quality control issue. Frustrating and the tape is very expensive. Any remedy?

    If I can have hundreds of Workspaces, how on earth would you keep track of them all. Would be great if you could download a list (csv) so you could index. Just a thought.

    Can you use the camera to digitally enter a template into origin?

    Only use complete “dominos” (partials don’t work), so take the extra second or two and cut the tape between “dominos”.

    Can you apply a film finish over shaper tape, for example if you build a large workbench where you want permanent dominos?

    • @Shapertools
      @Shapertools  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Andrew,
      If you're going to coat the tape we recommend something very thin, and be mindful of how the reflection of overhead lights might affect the camera. Packing tape often works as well as film, but either can work!

    I’ve see people use tape in the cutting field. Is that necessary?

    • @Shapertools
      @Shapertools  ปีที่แล้ว

      Tape should be placed anywhere Origin can see during the cut. Sometimes this will put tape in a cutting area so that Origin can track well throughout a cut.

    What if a client wants inlay done on an uneven floor?

    • @kjc10
      @kjc10 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      you need to use a plate that is flat. any uneven plane creates tape errors
