She could have cared for her ex husband and still date her boyfriend openly. Her bf had said he’d wait for her and she said to her sis that she really loves Han. This story has an “open” ending. There’s still hope for her and Han as at the end, she didn’t discourage him waiting. My thoughts? Just buy him a damn motorised wheelchair and get him a nurse!😂😂

People forget that these dramas have to be approved by the government. The official line from them is that no matter what, keeping families together is what matters. That's why there is always the female lead returning to her husband even if they are already divorced.
This man has absolutely no conscience! When he was strong and good, he dropped his wife like a hot potato for the mistress. He didn’t care that he hurt her or his son, all he wanted was the mistress. Now he has no problem sitting up in that chair, getting taken care of by the same woman he threw away? This is a terrible ending! I’m so disappointed.

As for the wife, she understood well the feeling of being abandoned by the the most loved one, but now she did the same to the man who devoted his whole hearted love to her. What a conceited person she was, making him go through the pain she once experienced. What did she want to prove herself to be by doing that? A human with an angelic heart... So disgusting of her. Because she didn't really treasure what she had, but took it for granted so she lost her husband to that cheapskate mistress. Now again, she lost her happiness with the man who dearly loved her and succumbed to serving that good for nothing scumbag ex-husband.

No me gusta ver siempre como las mujeres son tratadas en los dramas. No pueden salir por ahí, no pueden tener amigos hombres, siempre deben hacer lo que les dicen los padres o las parejas, la ropa... muchas veces se la compran, o a veces las relaciones empiezan o acaban porque uno lo decide sin consultar con el otro.
Idealizan que eso es lo normal y no es así.

Now that I have emotionally removed myself from this story, and realize that this is just that... a 'story', I turn my attention to the writers of this masterpiece drama. The writers are among the best in China, and they know exactly what they are doing when crafting a story line like this. They know what affects the ratings and what grows viewership. They wrote a story that would move the emotions of Chinese viewers. This drama is a cultural reflection of China and its society, shaped over many dynasties. I'm a Westerner and through such Chinese TV Dramas, I am learning about how Chinese people view life, its path, and about social behavior and relations. Embeded in the story and characters is the Chinese moral and ethical codes... about social expectations of girls and Women, and boys and Men. This drama shows how Chinese people view love and marriage - that the two are separate things and that love and affection (and sex) are not required in marriage. A whole family/household, the stigma of single parenthood, and keeping 'Face' are powerful forces that keep a lot of loveless marriages and households together. Its still hard for single mothers to get a job that pays as much as men get, to look after self and kid(s). Such conditions ensure that the practice of affairs, cheating and having mistresses will continue to be a normal part of life.
The writers were conveying the current morality and ideals of life, love and marriage of today's China. We were 'taught' the profiles (and thoughts and actions) of 'ordinary' men, and 'ideal' men. We (Westerners) also got a glimpse of how Chinese view the role and place of women. Jilin is a portrait of the ideal Chinese woman... Beautiful, wise, authentic, strong and loyal. That no matter what has happened (financial crisis, husband's job loss, mistress, etc), she is expected still look after the family and household (cook, laundry, cleaning, sex, financial management, school chauffere, etc). Love is not a requirement. I get the sense, from my Western cultural bias, that it still sucks to be a Jilin in today's China. 🀄

While I agree with many of your points, one thing that you forgot. China and some east asian countries tend to be thinking of the "other person" more instead of the "self".
This is why it is very difficult for westerners to sympatized and understand it, given the "self-first" psyche of the west. This can be viewed as being selfish, egoistic and arrogant.
@@Yk-if3ev I agree with you; this is why Jilin did what many Westerners thought to be perplexing and 'wrong'; denying the love of Han, and letting Lin Wei return to her care. Her decision was not for herself - she despised him for abandoning her and Xiaomo for Qin Shan. She did this for the other person - for Xiaomo's sake.
Its just too bad Qin Shan (an East Asian) seemed to be acting in her own interest putting her self first - and cared little for how her actions would affect the other (Lin Wei's family).
So, I am throwing out the feng shui view point if its nothing more than a cultural view!! THANKS, for clarifying this!!!

Such an unfortunate ending. The man left his wife and kid like nothing, but the wife abandons the other guy who really loves her because her ex-husband got injured? There's other ways to help your kid's dad without getting back together, the women has her own life too, going back to an ex-husband who gave you and your kid up for someone else is just plain disrespectful, not just to herself, but to her kid. I know this is just a storyline, but I wish they would focus less on ratings and more on the fact that women should not disrespect themselves by going back to cheaters

At the end of this drama, I fully understand why she did it, I beleive she doesnt love her husband any more, however been loyal to him is a sense of morality not to mention her son is happy, when she walked across to talk to her future husband!?, there was love in their eyes and most important understanding of the situation, he will wait for her and she Will go to him soon!!!, that kind of love is the most beautiful unselfish love there is, is all going to be okey, he said it all and she understood and walked away but not forever!, next time in the series it will concluded that real loves is willing to understand and wait. Can't wait to see more.

When I saw this drama last year, I was so angry by its ending that I kicked the wall several times.Played on my mind constantly that I was really irritable...I really want to kick that jerk,and throw him out wheelchair and all in the water...now I want to slap the ex-wife to wake her up from that limbo.
