It was explained in the comics better and in the comics Barry Allen ran so fast that when he ran he kinda thanos snapped himself out of existence in a way. But Jay Took his place during season 6 of the flash.

Season 1 is still the best season of flash. Flash season1 is the best season of any CW show to me and at that time it was the best season ever. Season 1 I can watch 4 times more and it will still make me cry.
