DO IT! I just saw an article on Student Doctor Network about a dude who is starting Emergency Medicine residency at age 47. You’re gonna age regardless, so you might as well be working toward your dream.
Also, if you already have a degree, you can just go back and take the prerequisites! No need for a new degree!
Antonio Webb MD has a video on his channel where he interviews medical school admissions committee members and asks if one can be too old for medical school. They have really positive things to say. Y’all should check it out! Good luck!

In my 30s i keep thinking it would have been a good idea to have kids in those college years (of course it would have meant to really be out of careless time so it would have been a sacrifice). Life is long and 26 is still so young ! I still feel young 10 years older than you actually 😂😂

Kristina, I’ve watched you for almost 3 years now I discovered you my first semester of college because I would obsessively research anesthesia, be it on TH-cam, sdn, etc., and I am so glad I found you. It’s so great to finally hear a little bit more about your journey to medicine. I look up to you as a medical professional and a woman, I am very determined and obsessive about things I’m passionate about, but I appear very calm but serious on the outside and I am also very caring. I work as a CNA at a trauma 1 hospital which isn’t always easy and I can’t say I’m in my dream job but I love taking care of patients and being a part of a team in healthcare, even if my role is small. There are some very hectic days depending on what unit I’m floated to and even on the most stressful days I remain focused and refrain from complaining, I am always working hard and trying to help even if there is downtime. I actually took a test that my university provided that combined a personality, skills, interests, and values test that ranks careers from 1 to 1000, and anesthesiologist was the top one, but I want to keep an open mind to other specialties when I get into medical school because I want to be a doctor first and not pigeonhole myself into one speciality, though I do love it and admire you so much and hope that’s where I end up. I’ve watched you for some time now and I just wanted to tell you a little about myself. A couple years ago I sent you some scrub hats for Christmas, they were bouffant ones but you wear pony ones more I wish I would have got you some of those instead. If you don’t read that’s okay, I love watching you, thanks for the awesome video that inspires and motivates me to continue.

I always get so teary eyed listening to people like yourself - so passionate about your career and your job and it always makes my heart full of joy for you and so proud. It is so incredibly inspiring. My dream was to become a Clinical Psychologist and I don't think there's a day that goes by where I don't kick myself on the inside for not being enough. I am currently still an undergrad for Psychology (I'm 27 - started late because of Military service) and it still eats me up inside because I just know I cannot get into Grad school for Clinical Psychology. I am not enough according to their standards but I just know I'd be a great Therapist and so it's painful. I have since tried researching other things that are similar but sadly where I live, the only thing that really comes up is Clinical Social Work and even that doesn't exactly sit right with me. I'm just so happy for you that you were so passionate and still are about what you studied and what you're pursuing....I wish I could have a chance as well.
Thank you for being such an amazing, talented and professional Doctor! I'm sure your patients love and adore you immensely and feel like they're in great hands and in great care.
And OMG. I had no idea about your baby brother. I'm so sorry for your loss. I read your blog post and was so stunned...I follow your Mother and her journey and Channeling Erik. I am blown away because I followed you both, separately and had no idea you two Ladies were connected. Just yesterday I was listening to one of her channelings with Erik and felt so incredibly sad for her and her loss. I'm so sorry about your baby brother.

I’d love to hear about times you were scared while practicing medicine. Or maybe when you lost your first patient. Or a story of when you felt a miracle happening while practicing medicine. I feel like the scary parts of medicine and how that emotionally impacts doctors are not frequently talked about. I’d also love to see HB participate in some videos like these that revolve around medicine. Sorry this comment was so choppy 😂

15:20 😭 😭 😭 I love teaching so much though. I love my content area, learning more about pedagogy and psychological development, making connections with the students and families, being an extra support and advisor for the kids when they need it. Grading and classroom management aren't my favorite things, but totally worth it. Sometimes I feel society doesn't really respect the work though (and the endless hoops you have to jump through to become a teacher and stay one).

Yes MCAT is different now. Agree though with all you say of course. Also 2 of my children are in medical school. One is in her 4th year and the other is about to get his white coat and just began 2 weeks ago. Cannot stress enough volunteer work, summer internships, having a CNA is helpful and working as a scribe or in a hospital during college all so very helpful. My daughter went straight from college and my son took a year off and scribed at a hospital. Both studied for the MCAT on their own and worked their butts off and got in through good interviews and lots of hard work. Each applied to 15/16 schools and each got approximately 4/5 interviews. Their MCAT scores were fine but NOT amazing and their GPA out of college was each 3.85/3.9 and their resumes were huge and one had a biomedical degree; the other double major in Biology and Chemistry with a minor in math. They are from a family with no one in the medical field, lol and basically winged it all and did it!

Don't be afraid! My sister is about to turn 32 and she just returned to her first year of college to become a nurse. I'm a junior, 22, in college and have finally decided to embark on my med school journey. Don't let age stop you.

    Please answer this question!!!
From what I learned from A&P 1: Sweat is a way your body using to cool down when it’s hot, so why do people always state, “if you don’t sweat than you are not burning fat”.

I'm a psychology major going into my freshman year. I've thought about med school but I'm not sure if that's for me. Science and math are my worst subjects. I've looked into forensic pathology and anesthesiology. I've also thought of psychiatric nurse practitioner. I love being hands on and I need to keep doing something mentally stimulating. I'm slowly descending into a panic to figure out what I want to do so I don't waste unnecessary time and money.

Kristina. It's so weird that you're making this video because I've been meaning to send you a message on this topic. I've messaged you before don't know if you remember. I am a respiratory therapist and so is my husband. We've been doing this since 1994 so my kids have grown up in the medical field so to speak. My son who is getting ready to be 15 really wants to be an anesthesiologist. About 2 years ago he had a career project that he had to do. I work at a major heart Center in Raleigh North Carolina, so I set him up to talk with one of my most favorite anesthesiologist I've ever worked with and that was great. He just LOVES you. We have watch your videos for a while and he even asked me to send you a message a while back so he can hear your point of view on school. He seems to be hung up on the amount of years of schooling. We have explained to him In detail how long it will be and we keep telling him that it will be worth it. It will be worth it. It will be worth it. Was wondering if you can tell him anything to help him get through that issue..🧡😁ps..I definitely know what you mean about the intubation. That has always been my favorite thing that I do. 🤗

Maybe he might be interested in becoming a CRNA or a CAA. That way it will only take him 2-3 years after college!

I have a client who is a doctor. When I told her I was nervous about going back to school to finish my degree in clinical lab science, she revealed to me her nontraditional path to medicine. She had a business degree and was working in the business force. She had a lightbulb moment, and went back to school and took all of the required courses as a non-degree seeking student. She then took her MCATS and got into medical school through the Air Force (so it was paid for). Ya’ll can do it if your heart is in it and you are ready to be disciplined ❤️
