    It can help to use the offhand to assist in trunk rotation. Pretend your left hand is swiping a curtain out of your way before your right arm comes through.
    Let your throwing hand lag behind your elbow until it's time to snap the disc out.
    Try to incorporate a "crow hop" kind of move in your walk up. This really helps you get a solid plant/brace with your left foot coming down with your body weight behind it. Really focus on almost "stomping" that left foot down before your arm starts whipping through.
    Experiment with different grips. I did the two finger stacked grip thing forever, randomly tried an index finger only one day, and it eventually unlocked another couple dozen feet of distance for whatever reason, and now the stacked grip just feels bad. Everyone has different hands and fingers, gotta figure out what feels best and lets you snap the disc out fast.
    I hope the irony is not lost on everyone that we're giving RHFH advice to a dude that can throw LHBH decently...😂

      @@Albatross88 I appreciate all the advice. I'll try to incorporate different pieces one by one.

    I'm still busy workin on my backhand form cause I can only throw about 230 ft. I can only throw a forehand a little over a 100 ft but you've inspired me to go after more forehand work. I just discovered disc golf several months ago and I love the challenge and improvements. I'm a 56 year old female and this has been the perfect fun sport for me cause I love being outside and active. Thanks for the tips.

      I'm glad you found the video helpful. Also stoked that you found and enjoy playing disc golf. Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving!

    Nice. I’m in about the same boat on the forehand, same goals and trying to slowly improve without injuring myself. Have had to take time off from FH for this reason. The one method/technique that has clicked the most for me is what Scott Stokley teaches if you have ever seen his instruction. And, yeah I would keep also practicing that lefty backhand too, that’s really great.

      @@ashevillescarborough Thanks for your comment. Scott Stokley has a lot of great videos on forehand technique. What specifically helped? Thanks again.

      @ I think the explaination to treat it like throwing any other object/not keeping the elbow tucked the whole time, as well as the wind up and step through to create tension in your core helped.. also maybe not in his video series, but possibly in overthrows, is to bring your left arm back towards your disc, then start the follow through with that arm to really use your core, if that makes sense. I stared with more of a step through, but have found a crow hop helps my timing, but I still suck, lol

    For some reference I throw about 400-425 on forehand. I am primarily a forehand dominant player. From what I can see is you need to stay lower throughout your through and allow more lag to happen in your arm before you throw. Your shoulders should start to rotate before your arm allowing for the whip motion of the throw. And I would try throwing like a Innova star Valkyrie. I primarily throw a mystere as my main distance driver and can get the Valkyrie out to about 350-375. I hope some of that helps

      @@ericsherman4844 Definitely helps, I appreciate your comment. I'll try the Star Valkyrie out. One question, do your hips and shoulders rotate at the same time?

    • @ericsherman4844
      @ericsherman4844 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @TheDiscZone no my hips rotate first then my shoulders using your core to snap the shoulders around

      I also use the crow hop to get my legs and hips into position

    Not bad at all, keep it up. Maybe, try to add some speed in the run-up and some and pop into the spin of the disc to get easy distance. Also, it would be good to check out the forehand routine of Aaron Gossage, notice his footwork and hip engagement, he has a fast, explosive release. Hope this helps. :)

    Let your arm release after the disc is away. Looks like your chopping your follow through short on your backhand. Doing so makes a big difference on my distance and accuracy. Also look straight ahead not at the target it helps the mechanics of the throw and follow through it takes some adjusting and muscle memory practice but once you establish your natural alignment and see where a disc wants to go when you use your natural aim your less likely to muscle the shot off the line you intended it to be on. Not a pro but I am a student
