Not A Thing - ASHWOOD: I've liked Ghost'n'ghost for a while, his accented voice makes for good vocals, and his production always has cute flow to it, and Blooom's future bass and d'n'b are both stellar, so I was really excited when they announced a collaboration alias+EP. This is the best from it, with minimalistic yet effortless production and great vocals that keep the energy exactly where it needs to be. 8. Follow - T-Mass, Rain Man, Vikki Gilmore: I've always had a soft spot for T-Mass, I think he has a lot to offer (despite his more questionable releases) that the community sometimes overlooks. Here with Rain Man and Vikki Gilmore, he bring chill and enthralling future bass, utilizing the vocals to compliment the leads. 7. Falling (Ayjin Remix) - Rival, CRVN: I always appreciate it when a Remix completely recontextualizes the original. This uses the same vocals, obviously, but the vibe is completely different. Ayjin accentuates the crisis in CRVN's voice rather than the melancholy, and it works really well. Paired with heart-pounding happy hardcore, this is an engaging listen all the way through. 6. Guide You Home - Diviners, Level 8: It's hard to resist progressive house that both evokes nostalgia for the past while not sounding dated at all, and that's exactly what Diviners and Level 8 deliver. 5. A Mere Blip In Your Timeline - OBLVYN: When the drop hits, it feels like being taken to another dimension. OBLVYN's ability to tell a story without using a single word is enviable for sure. And of course, her iconic solos never miss. 4. Lost In The Middle - T & Sugah, Mara Necia: Necia's vocals encourage resilience in hard times, and T & Sugah back it up with uplifting d'n'b that treads through simple melodies with fresh sounds. 3. One Taste - More Plastic, URBANO: More Plastic has completed what I like to call the Fox Stevenson trifecta: Great dubstep, great house, and great d'n'b. While I tend to prefer their dubstep, this is hard to resist. punchy and driving, this is everything d'n'b should be. As URBANO says, I can't get enough. 2. Overcome - Outlandr: This is the backing track to impressive feats of strength, to pushing your limits. The gritty baseline of the first drop is motivating and the most heavy-hitting thing I've heard from NCS in a while. 1. Clockwork - Jnathyn, Bryan Andrew Medina: Everything about this is amazing. Probably the best part is the pacing. Every section goes on for a bit longer than you'd expect, which ends up being the perfect length. The retro synths nevertheless feel very modern within the context of the song. and the guitar solo. oh my god the guitar solo. This is a track that's good at first, but the more you listen the more it reveals it's complexities. There's a shortage of songs like this on NCS, songs that aren't afraid to extend themselves, fully explore their own concepts, and with the rise of shorter songs that literally everyone has been talking about, knowing songs like these still exist is reassuring.
