@@ihavegymnastics thats what those whacky inventors wore back then. See him standing beside his odd "camera and tripod". It took nearly 2 millenia for those to become mainstream
It wasn't freedom he sought, but an audience with the emperor to exact his revenge. The look of guilt on Maximus knowing the men will die in his path for revenge is unnerving, absolute masterpiece of a movie.
It's the little details. Like the way the gladiators are hesitant to attack first when Maximus enters the arena. Like his reputation by this point has got them scared and they know they could die....and do!
Actually, in a contest like that, it was considered bad form to attack from behind. In truth, at that point, in the late second century, in gladiatorial contests gladiators were rarely killed in the arena, as they had become very expensive commodities and were very popular with the public, much like professional athletes of today. They actually had referees at this point to insure the enforcement of rules and the safety of the combatants
Dude, OMG it toke me 20+ yrs to realize how legendary that spectator who started shouting "Spaniard!" "Spaniard!" Oh I hope his grand children and his great grand children to this day, know the great line they come from 🎉😂
Amazing to see them act so well together on screen but sad to know that in reality, Crowe hated Reed so much because of his non stop drinking and bad behaviour on set...
All the other gladiator masters are like "dude wtf?!?!?!" They were supposed to put on a show. Maximus coming and ignoring decorum is like Huey going off about white people
Possibly ruin, unfortunately likely. I can’t see a logical reason to refer to a movie 20+ years after the fact as a sequel and I will never view it as such. A proper sequel might have involved Maximus in the next life seeking out his family. If Crowe is in it he’s gonna be Proximo and we just get a shitty reshoot of the original. There is no sequel that wasn’t shot 20 years ago. It’s just a cash grab.
I love how the gladiator laughs at the slave master when he talks about knowing Marcus Aurelius, knowing how well he knew him personally.
he didn't say he knew him. he said he touched him on the shoulder once.
@@OutlawSoul nice one
1:19 Maximus is so legendary that people from our era came back in time just to witness and film it so we could watch it on TH-cam.
Or that jeans and a white-cotton tee were a fashion trend back then that just never took hold..... ;)
They never removed him digitally after all these years lmao

Wierd cus there r extras behind him or maybe theyre cgi?
Oh my god there's a whole camera right next to him, too!
They just don't make 'em like this anymore. Extraordinary film

This was such a manly scene!
One of the best heel promos ever filmed
Yup, so im watching Gladiator again
RIP Oliver Reed. Passed during filming so he was not able to witness the impact of his performances.
0:45 good thing those guys wait their turn 😂

Better than the whole Spartacus world, where exaggeration beats this more realistically legendary masterpiece, well at least in my humble opinion.
Favourite film.
I am thankful to god that I am alive to witness such a masterpiece

Oliver Reed was a grossly underrated actor.
Proximo is surprised that the crowd doesn’t mind Maximus’s hack jobs.
1:46 those dudes haven't seen a thing, they're just chanting because everyone else is

❤🤍💙 you #RUSSELL CROWE 1 Septillion times.
Ridley Scott once showed....Are you not entertained ?
No plane ?
I wonder. If you put Maximus, Leonidas the first, and Atilla together in the arena. Who would be the last man Standing?
how do you even compare them to Leonidas... He was training to kill as a toddler...
HI RAOUF MILAN ALGERIA ILOVE YOU TOU YES GLADIATOR 2
Maximus: Amen 🙏
All the other gladiator masters are like "dude wtf?!?!?!"
They were supposed to put on a show. Maximus coming and ignoring decorum is like Huey going off about white people

Well frankly no! Can you juggle multiple Sacred Chickens whilst singing I Found My Frill On Capitoline Hill?
Angel wae at war
😇🥰😍🤩😘
Well they are gonna ruin this now with a sequel.
What else to expect from RS?

Can't ruin anything if it has Denzel
🤞
R u soppose to answer yes or no? Cause it seems ambiguous either way
The line should have been “I do not entertain “!
“Are you not entertain?” Suggests he finds enjoyment of the stage.
why do they call him Spaniard?
Because he was actually from Spain (at that time Hispania). No one there knew his real name, so he got that nickname.
🇪🇺 N A. T. O🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝
Stupid he could not have won the fight
You clearly are not entertained....
