    I can see why people say that he looks like Chuck Norris. By the way dark blue is actually considered to be better night camo scheme than black because that's color of night sky.

    The Outback/Crazylegs 2 pack was the one to get. Crazylegs was the most improved in black and outback was the best of the line. That Range Viper was another 90s hidden gem. Thanks for so much content this week it was all great.
    Also I love hearing from Susan. 80s nostalgia is pretty awesome regardless of gender, but boys totally got the better toys.

      HoodedCobraCommander788 I never made the connection to Chuck Norris. Outback reminded me of the Adventure Team G.I.Joes that came along just before I started getting out of them. Outback, Topside, Rock n Roll v2, and Shipwreck reminded me of them.

    Great review as always! I KNEW nothing of Night Force until the day I "graduated" from 5th grade! My mom took me to a Chuck E Cheese, and then to Toys R Us across the street for making it out of grade school, I guess! There they were on an endcap! I really want to say this was the first set I got, of like 2 i think. And I chose this one because I already had an OUTBACK, and really liked him because he looked like my older brother. I didn't grow up with my brothers, so playing with OUTBACK was kind of the only way I could associate with him! Thanks for sharing your video with us! Really appreciate it! And thank you Susan for sharing your memory of your first toy with us too! I have a similar one! It was like my 5th or 6th birthday, I had just gotten home from school, and my mom threw a surprise party for me! The one toy I remember and had forever was a He Man figure named Tri Klops! Your story brought back a ton of good memories, so than you for sharing!

    Very cool figure!
    I also agree that the different shade of green on the sleeves was rather wonky. Despite that, that Outback is a very solid figure - that is a beautiful shade of green that probably should have been part of more G.I. Joe uniforms.
    Also, I enjoyed the Rainbow Brite bit with Mrs. HCC. So I would like to thank her for her thoughts on Rainbow Brite, as well, and to treasure her always!
    Also, a hello to the HCC kitty!

    These night force repaints were awesome. By far my favorite sub team in the history of the line. I always thought the two toned sleeves were intended to represent some sort of layered look.

    • @HCC788
      @HCC788  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Night Force may be my favorite sub-team, too. The card art tries to make the shirt look layered.

    • @timf7413
      @timf7413 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think one of the things I liked the best was that instead of just taking a bunch of random figures to repaint (though I assume that's still what they did), it ended up with a team that felt like they did have complimentary specialties suited to night missions. The fact that they tailored the file card text in that regard didn't hurt either.
      As an aside, Low Light version 3 has spot on perfect Night Force colors (especially when compared to the 1989 wave), which I always thought was cool since he was a character that should have been on any Joe night ops team.

    I never had any of the Night Force figures but I did get lucky enough as a kid to pick up the Night-Ray and what a smart choice that was, I realized that about nine years later when I got back into collecting just because of its worth lol. I remember my original reason for choosing the Night-Ray was to help me complete a second Moray I had picked up at a yard sale believe it or not lol I was a weird kid lol, but once I got it together it stayed as a Joe vehicle next to my Flagg since I liked that they finally had a "big boat". I loved the black and grey color with the hot orange torpedoes and small guns the glow in the dark stickers were the icing on the cake for me. I remember wanting more Night-Force stuff after this but the closest Toys R Us is still an hour away from my place and when we got back over they were no where to be found. To answer the question if the two waves were available in 89 together? Yes they were the shelf space was huge for these and the way I remember it is because I still remember the smaller vehicles that were available at the time and the amount of the two packs on the pegs, I mean it went from the floor to the very top of the shelf and was about six to seven feet down the isle packed full of Night Force

    I for one DON'T have a problem with these sleeves... Looking at this from today's eyes, the shirt has kind of a retro 70's vintage look with different colored sleeves. And for nostalgia purposes(which is what vintage GI Joe is), that's pretty cool. I never had this figure, but I did literally see all of Night Force figures on the shelves with the single card earlier versions sold at the same Toy's R Us. I had already purchased the 1st version of Outback, so as cool as it was, I didn't see the point at the time in getting the Night Force figures. AND, unfortunately, V.3 & V.4 of Outback are a little TOO Rainbow Bright.

    I don't remember kid-me being aware that some figurines were available thru different channels. Some exclusive to certain stores. Some exclusive to mail orders or with those GIJoe points. Retroactively I don't think all those details were very clearly understood. I really wanted a Cobra Commander darn it!

    • @HCC788
      @HCC788  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice job man. As a newby to your channel, im in serious catch up mode. We are about the same age from what I have gathered in your overall content thus far. Im in the minority here, but my favorite all time Joe is GRUNT. I always loved the simplicity of the figure as it pertained to the military theme of Gi Joe that was initially intended. I army built this figure back in the day. Well, maybe more of a unit build, I had 15 total Grunts. Question: what's your favorite all time Joe?

    • @HCC788

      Hey, Yo_duh! Welcome! I'm glad you found the channel. I'm a big fan of Grunt as well. My favorite Joe is Stalker. I loved the figure (v 1.5) and the character as he was presented in the comic book.

    a couple things:
    1 - its a hard call for me personally which version of outback i like more..part of me thinks the dark colors are awesome..but at the same time...the first version is very iconic IMO. i think both are top tiers and i would honestly call it a tie.
    2.) i did not realize the homage to chuck norris as a kid. looking at your review of the figure..its so obvious but my kid mind could not comprehend cross pollination among media/genre. its so painfully obvious now that this figure is meant to represent an idealized DELTA FORCE unit!
    3.) i cannot be the only guy on the webs that would love a rainbow bright channel hosted by Suzanne. i never had the toy..i barely remember the property as is...but the nostalgia crack rock that lil segment was (even tho it was another's nostalgia!). Mr.hoodedcobracommander as well done and articulated this vid was...i do believe the misses stole the show on this one ;-)
    i am glad to hear ur better! and keep up the quality work! :-D

    You know, that card art kind of gives the impression Night Force Outback is wearing a vest on top of a darker green T-shirt, hence the darker sleeves. But that wouldn't make much tactical sense, would it?

    • @HCC788
      @HCC788  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Apparently the green sleeves was a choice they made on the figure, and they later tried to make the card art match it.

    I don't like any of the repaints. They're just reissues. Same exact figures withe the same exact accessories. The only subteam worth a damn is the Iron Grendieres. They're all unique characters not lazy reissues like Tiger Force, and Night Force, and Python Patrol. Yuck!
