For real!! Thats kinda understandable because it might be hard to code an animation to interact properly with the ground... But why they hardly ever move the neck forwards? What horse jumps that high without stretching the neck?? Small jumps yes, but the jumps in SSO are huge😩 (I don't know how to explain it, but I hope you get what I mean)

I hear you. They actually should have more hock action. But SSO is doing its darnedest to make sure it separates itself from anything that might look like saddle seat riding. This horse is geared toward a customer who wants to create a western riding look. It’s like they are giving lip service to everyone who thinks ASB are big lick horses, and all people who ride saddle seat are abusive. 🙄
I like the colors and stuff but some of the gaits are a little... Eh but the horse is pretty but the hair styles with the tails touching the floor .. the tain just looks like a snake but otherwise I'm still kinda excited.
The slow gallop looks like the horse's movement doesn't match with the actual speed they're at, like their legs move slower than the background does and there's no weight on them. The jumping is terrible but at this point im convinced they simply don't want to animate horses jumping correctly for whatever reason. Overall they seem fine, I'll wait until release to decide if they're worthy or not. EDIT: THEY'RE AWESOME even with the minor inconveniences mentioned before. I got the pinto one and hope we get a chestnut in the future.

If you’re talking about the gait titled slow gallop. It’s a rack. Saddlebreds are five gaited irl (they walk, trot, canter, slow gait, and rack). I don’t know why it’s titled the slow gallop because it’s not a gallop at all. If you’re talking about the actual gallop. It’s probably because it might be done in slow motion in the video. I’ve watched many of these videos and all the gaits for every breed there’s a video on are done in slow motion and regular speed.

I feel like a lot of time SSO focuses so much on making the gaits unique that they don't end up looking very good. I think that happened with this horse because the gaits look very unique but they're not Star Stable's best work in my opinion. I don't hate them or anything (the long tail is super cool, after all) I just think SSO has done better with animations.
I agree with this 100%. I think a lot of it, though, is because of how many people complain about "copy and paste" animations and horses that look too similar. It was a huge point of contention in a lot of breeds.
^^ people need to get over reused gaits because when they try to make every gait unique…you get horses with weird gaits lol (speaking in general, not specifically the saddlebreds)
In all fairness, the Icelandics are the same way in-game, but it could've been executed better nonetheless. The Saddlebred's slow gallop is just... it doesn't feel fast enough to constitute as a replacement for the slow gallop. The back legs don't even move as fast as the front legs which bothers me to no end but, alas. I doubt they'll change it any time soon, they rarely do.
@@monii7461 the jump landing to me looks like the back hooves are slamming down onto the ground and resuming the gait instead of taking the time to return to the gait normally
I just wish they’d made all jumps have more of an impact upon landing- the horse goes back into whatever gait it was in before it even touches the ground :(

to those who are like woah wtf this horse looks so weird, as an ex saddleseat rider who still works with and loves saddlebreds, they just fuckin look like this man. they are weird mfers. hell this model isn't even close to the crazy bred ones you'll see at some shows with nutso necks. people are wondering why the horse looks more cartoony/stylized and that's literally not due to style, that's How They Are irl. they have been bred for ages to be incredibly showy and peacocky. it'd be like wondering why those overbred dogs at dog shows look cartoony when drawn; no babe, they're just scrungly like that irl!! they're walking spinal disorders with amazing personalities

I am absolutely blown away. As someone who grew up sharing the arena with many saddlebreds (never ridden one myself), these gaits are possibly some of the best I’ve seen SSO do. Yes, they look stiff… but saddlebreds look stiff. My only complaint is they are lacking the excessive eye whites whenever the horse looks around. Even the young, never been abused (or even saddled yet) ones I’ve known have very prominent eye whites. Not necessarily all the time, but whenever they start looking at something(deciding if they should spook) or are running around, you can see the whites of their eyes.
@@arvella Alot of the saddlebred I know have white Sclera instead of the traditional brown coloring of it. It makes them look like their scared but in reality its just a simple discoloration of the eye

I typically criticize SSO, but in this case I have to agree. This horse is one of the best well done horses in a while. Is it a little stiff? Yes, but its pretty spot on for the breed. The problem is the m, majority of the people playing this game are either kids or people that dont own horses or know much about the breeds. I have seen people praise certain animation that look downright terrible and then crap all over animations that are (although not perfect) pretty good for the breed (like in this case).
Hard disagree. It's not that they don't look like warmblood, it's that they don't do the actual ASB justice...the coats are wayyy too flashy (there isn't even a boring chestnut???), the gaits are stiff and unengaged, and the model itself basically just looks like a Marwari...none of those complaints have anything to do with the warmblood and everything to do with being a meh-ASB.
im not a horse person irl, but i definitely enjoy the breeds that have more distinctive silhouettes in game (that's why i tend to favor work horses, because they have such a distinct silhouette with the bigger hooves)

Yes cc creations does the best spoiler Infact I felt disappointed because I watched a spoiler on Instagram just before cc put this out! And I was very disappointed and upset mainly because of their infamous long tails and cut back mane ! And low and behold I watch cc and they have the style and now I will be buying the grey the silver buckskin and none of the pintos and I don’t think I will ever ride any of the other breeds again I love it that much now I have seen the full proper design!!! Definitely gonna keep my mouth shut in future and wait until cc uploads her ones lol
I’ve been to Saddlebred shows before and have seen them close up in person, trust me when I say they really do look like this! Yes they are shaped wonky and odd but that is what makes them a very unique and instantly recognizable breed. negative opinions are fine, but please keep in mind what the real life horses look and move like. I recommend watching some western pleasure saddlebred shows for reference 😊
Come on, SSO, their necks are just a bit longer, and they're bigger than your average size horse. Even their natural gaits are fancier than what's shown here. I'm disappointed that they didn't use the iconic stretch park on the idle, and made them into something twitchy and fiery (from my experience, they're super chill horses)
I really like them, and I think their special gait was done correctly and is fluid. They look a little small imo (irl they are a bit higher at the wither, although like with most carriage horses they have high necks making up a lot of height).
Whew that's a relief it looks really good! They got the gaits spot on and humane lookin. 🎉 They look full of attitude 😂 The movement is very fluid hats off to whoever designed this model honestly.😂

Whatever team animated the Lippizaner also animated this horse….it’s painfully obvious. Idk…I always wait till it’s in game to make final judgement (though if it really comes out next week, it’s not getting changed) but as of right now I’m not compelled to buy. Nothing about this horse screams Saddlebred to me. Take the long tail away and you’d never in a million years guess that that’s what this was. Contrast this with the IRL Saddlebred, which is arguably one of the most easily recognizable breeds in terms of both build and movement. Not that my opinion means much, but this feels like very shoddy work. I’d love to have my mind changed on release.
I’ve never ridden nor met a saddlebred [though I adore them] so take what I say with a grain of salt. I’m fairly certain that their gaits appear stiff irl because of how collected they are just from videos I’ve seen. However, their jump is a bit awkward to me. For coats, I think they’re gorgeous. There wasn’t really one I disliked. The dapple grey and the bay are very pretty and I’ll probably be buying one. :]
I think those are really well made for that sort of breed. They actually put research behind it and i think it turned out very nice, especially the long tail and such. Yeah they're not going to please everyone but that how it is irl too - not everyone likes breed XY. I think, even tho im not a huge saddlebred fan, this is the best horse they've made for a long time quality vise.
What gets me is that SSO completely refuses to give this horse breed their natural gaits all because of the big lick shit, which there is a difference. (Before you come hating, Icelandic and Paso Finos are two examples of gaited horse breeds) Its the same thing for the Tennessee Walkers. But, when it comes to the dutch warmblood, it has the very obvious, toe flick in the extended gait. That is NOT natural and its not exactly extended. It is an abusive behavior.
Honestly the gaits look pretty breed-accurate from what I've seen on Saddlebreds. The rack jump landing is horrendous though. I'll still probably buy one but I'm gonna wait until they hopefully release a chestnut later on
The model is realy beautiful but the head just feel a little bit too big, but I wanted a fullt black or a fully liver chestnut whitout to much markings, but other wise do I like them. And I hate that they just stop to jump in the air:( Sso realy need to fix that on all horses, and I dont understand that even new horses, have t his isue

You’re not the only one. I ride saddlebreds irl so they are my favorite breed. I can never get on a horse of another breed without feeling weird cause I’m so used to riding the saddlebred.

@@lucabun Sorry for the long paragraph. You are so right. Saddle seat is a beautiful riding discipline and it’s wonderful for those who can’t do patterns (like me). As a low level saddle seat rider that only rides in lessons and shows in winter tournaments 5 times a year and has been riding for almost 11 years, I will assure you that there is not at much abuse in the discipline as people make it to be. It’s looks different with breeds that don’t look like a quarter horse, thoroughbred, or warmblood and it’s not a worldwide sport (it’s only in the United States and South America) so so many people just assume the entire sport is abusive. Some people also mix it up with the big lick which uses a different breed of horse and was created several decades after saddle decades was created. There’s a small percentage of the saddle seat community that choose to abuse their horses and they’re not allowed to show. Yes there are some things I’ve seen done or used that I don’t agree with but it’s not that many things as people say it is. Saddle seat was made to show off the natural movements of the horses used in the sport. It’s just that the people started using abusive methods which two of those things have been banned. I have heard somewhere (I don’t remember where) that the newer generation is trying to better the sport and get rid of abusive or unnatural methods but don’t take me up on that because I don’t know if it’s for sure or not.
Its crazy to me how people are saying they dont like the gaits on this horse but they liked the selle francais gaits? 😭I really wanted a selle francais but the gaits were so crusty and i actually quite like the gaits on the american saddlebred edit: i mean the idle animations and jumps on this horse are kinda whack but my point stands!

This is the problem when kids or even adults have opinions on something they know nothing about. Most of the people who are so vocal about gaits dont own a horse and have never even ridden one in real life. They will praise breeds with horrific animations and then crap all over properly done ones, it drives me nuts lol.

Oh they look so cool and gorgeous!! Amazing job on the American Saddlebred! Oh it's so apparent now how outdated the starter looks compared to the other horses. If we are going to get gen 4 horses (as in them being compatible for breeding and customazation) then it would be great if they started with the starter horse and give it an updated more generation 3 look. Right now it looks more generation 2.
The canter and gallops def need another frame as the leading forelegs sort of pause before continuing the animation. Sad they didn't make a plain chestnut. That's like THE color you think when you think Saddlebred. Like a buckskin for mustang or white for Arabian. And I thought I might get the bay but they once again made some random stripe line that makes the face look crooked.
Albinism doesn’t occur in horses, so I assume ur talking about greys. It’s fine, not all American saddlebreds are chestnut. It’s just a coat you see often. I agree with the gallop and canter, they definitely need more work.
Ooof looks like they took the Marwari and just remodeled the head a bit. Not bad, but not as good as I was hoping. The pacing gait in particular looks off, especially considering how nice and smooth the Iclandic's gait is. Was hoping it would be better tbh.

I think people are very fixated on them looking disproportionate and cartoonish, but Saddlebreds look disproportionate and cartoonish in real life, so I don't think it's an issue.

The neck is not LONG or high enough, and HOW do you have one of the most iconically HIGH STEPPING horses in history have a trot that is lower than the Dutch warmblood? The idle animation also, HOW do you miss the iconic Saddlebred STRETCH for the idle animation? The long tail is cool though

Speaking of tails, with that long ahh tail they would've made great base models for Dragon horses like they did with the friesians, but better tbh
Everytime there's a spoiler I think 'oh neat' and everytime the comments are filled with people having insane hyper realistic expectation of this highly stylized game. Yes the gaits area bit stiff but I don't think they're that bad. I hope they tweak the the special gaits because they look a bit... off. I don't mind the jumps or the trot tho, when you're racing you're not even going to be paying that much attention to them anyway and nothing looked TOO out of place (them poor connie ponies man)

Even stylized, breeds like the Dutch Warmblood, Paint, and Appy are PHENOMENAL bc they're fluid, look athletic, and don't look like they're made to insult toddlers. Some of the other SSO breeds? Either feel 90% recycled, look like they're in pain when they move, or have lackluster coats that a toddler on MS Paint could've done better...it's the inconsistency that's the issue.

This stuff ain't easy especially when dealing with higher ups. The artists just have to push a product out the door and have bills to pay, please think about that next time. Its been a known fact that management at Starstable has been ass for lack of better words so I'm not shocked that things look rough around the edges. Also just because artists can make something realistic doesn't mean they always should. Stylistic choice isn't always insulting to the real thing. Is My Little Pony an 'insult made by toddlers' to you too? Because the whole point of stylistic choice is to use reality only as a base, not strict rule. Like I said I'm an artist, I can draw realistic animals but do I? nope! Because I needed to learn how they worked first BEFORE I could apply my own style. Unfortunately whether it looks good or not depends on who looks at it. Just because you don't vibe with it doesn't make the art bad. I'd wager like 70% of ASBs are chestnuts (I've worked with saddlebred trainers for 5+ years before my current gig) and not including even ONE chestnut is ridiculous. The arabians have three, yes THREE, grays but the ASBs doesn't even get a chestnut? That's like a dog game making a corgi and not making a single orange and white variant. It's bonkers at best, lmao. I'm not at all under selling the amount of work that went into the coats they did make, I'm complaining that apparently no one thought a chestnut would be a good idea for the ASB even though, let's be honest, if someone knows an ASB irl it's a chestnut...
It looks pretty good! I love the canter! The ground matches the animation and it feels like the horse is actually putting effort into it. Though the fast gaited gait looks really off and so do the jumps

I am absolutely blown away. As someone who grew up sharing the arena with many saddlebreds (never ridden one myself), these gaits are possibly some of the best I’ve seen SSO do. Yes, they look stiff… but saddlebreds look stiff. My only complaint is they are lacking the excessive eye whites whenever the horse looks around. Even the young, never been abused (or even saddled yet) ones I’ve known have very prominent eye whites. Not necessarily all the time, but whenever they start looking at something(deciding if they should spook) or are running around, you can see the whites of their eyes.

@@arvella Alot of the saddlebred I know have white Sclera instead of the traditional brown coloring of it. It makes them look like their scared but in reality its just a simple discoloration of the eye

I typically criticize SSO, but in this case I have to agree. This horse is one of the best well done horses in a while. Is it a little stiff? Yes, but its pretty spot on for the breed. The problem is the m, majority of the people playing this game are either kids or people that dont own horses or know much about the breeds. I have seen people praise certain animation that look downright terrible and then crap all over animations that are (although not perfect) pretty good for the breed (like in this case).
Hard disagree. It's not that they don't look like warmblood, it's that they don't do the actual ASB justice...the coats are wayyy too flashy (there isn't even a boring chestnut???), the gaits are stiff and unengaged, and the model itself basically just looks like a Marwari...none of those complaints have anything to do with the warmblood and everything to do with being a meh-ASB.
im not a horse person irl, but i definitely enjoy the breeds that have more distinctive silhouettes in game (that's why i tend to favor work horses, because they have such a distinct silhouette with the bigger hooves)

And I was very disappointed and upset mainly because of their infamous long tails and cut back mane ! And low and behold I watch cc and they have the style and now I will be buying the grey the silver buckskin and none of the pintos and I don’t think I will ever ride any of the other breeds again I love it that much now I have seen the full proper design!!! I’ve been to Saddlebred shows before and have seen them close up in person, trust me when I say they really do look like this! Yes they are shaped wonky and odd but that is what makes them a very unique and instantly recognizable breed. negative opinions are fine, but please keep in mind what the real life horses look and move like. I recommend watching some western pleasure saddlebred shows for reference 😊

Come on, SSO, their necks are just a bit longer, and they're bigger than your average size horse. Even their natural gaits are fancier than what's shown here. I'm disappointed that they didn't use the iconic stretch park on the idle, and made them into something twitchy and fiery (from my experience, they're super chill horses)
Yeah the fidgety idle seems a really strange choice as they're known to be very calm and good as kids ponies

I really like them, and I think their special gait was done correctly and is fluid. They look a little small imo (irl they are a bit higher at the wither, although like with most carriage horses they have high necks making up a lot of height).

So stiff omg (guys I didn’t mean to start a war, the stiffness I was talking about was mostly the jump, also I’m not gonna lie when I say that I know next to nothing about saddlebreds, I do jumping irl and I don’t know anything abt saddlebreds but to me the gaits kind of look off and just weird, hopefully sso will fix it but I doubt it.)

Whatever team animated the Lippizaner also animated this horse….it’s painfully obvious.
Idk…I always wait till it’s in game to make final judgement (though if it really comes out next week, it’s not getting changed) but as of right now I’m not compelled to buy. Nothing about this horse screams Saddlebred to me. Take the long tail away and you’d never in a million years guess that that’s what this was. Contrast this with the IRL Saddlebred, which is arguably one of the most easily recognizable breeds in terms of both build and movement. Not that my opinion means much, but this feels like very shoddy work. I’d love to have my mind changed on release.
On the last mane and tail cut, the horse clearly has a snake tail 😂 But it’s super pretty! Honestly I can't wait to buy it 🥰
I’ve never ridden nor met a saddlebred [though I adore them] so take what I say with a grain of salt. I’m fairly certain that their gaits appear stiff irl because of how collected they are just from videos I’ve seen. However, their jump is a bit awkward to me. For coats, I think they’re gorgeous. There wasn’t really one I disliked. The dapple grey and the bay are very pretty and I’ll probably be buying one. :]
I think those are really well made for that sort of breed.
They actually put research behind it and i think it turned out very nice, especially the long tail and such.

I think, even tho im not a huge saddlebred fan, this is the best horse they've made for a long time quality vise.
That final clip kind of looked like the American Saddlebreds have an actual transition between gaits rather than just immediately changing!!
What gets me is that SSO completely refuses to give this horse breed their natural gaits all because of the big lick shit, which there is a difference. (Before you come hating, Icelandic and Paso Finos are two examples of gaited horse breeds) Its the same thing for the Tennessee Walkers. But, when it comes to the dutch warmblood, it has the very obvious, toe flick in the extended gait. That is NOT natural and its not exactly extended. It is an abusive behavior.
Honestly the gaits look pretty breed-accurate from what I've seen on Saddlebreds. The rack jump landing is horrendous though. I'll still probably buy one but I'm gonna wait until they hopefully release a chestnut later on

You’re not the only one. I ride saddlebreds irl so they are my favorite breed. I can never get on a horse of another breed without feeling weird cause I’m so used to riding the saddlebred.

@@lucabun Sorry for the long paragraph. You are so right. Saddle seat is a beautiful riding discipline and it’s wonderful for those who can’t do patterns (like me). As a low level saddle seat rider that only rides in lessons and shows in winter tournaments 5 times a year and has been riding for almost 11 years, I will assure you that there is not at much abuse in the discipline as people make it to be. It’s looks different with breeds that don’t look like a quarter horse, thoroughbred, or warmblood and it’s not a worldwide sport (it’s only in the United States and South America) so so many people just assume the entire sport is abusive. Some people also mix it up with the big lick which uses a different breed of horse and was created several decades after saddle decades was created. There’s a small percentage of the saddle seat community that choose to abuse their horses and they’re not allowed to show. Yes there are some things I’ve seen done or used that I don’t agree with but it’s not that many things as people say it is. Saddle seat was made to show off the natural movements of the horses used in the sport. It’s just that the people started using abusive methods which two of those things have been banned. I have heard somewhere (I don’t remember where) that the newer generation is trying to better the sport and get rid of abusive or unnatural methods but don’t take me up on that because I don’t know if it’s for sure or not.

Agreed. This one got much of the Selle's gaits. They are off. However the Selle model itself is so perfect. Animations ruined it a bit.

This is the problem when kids or even adults have opinions on something they know nothing about. Most of the people who are so vocal about gaits dont own a horse and have never even ridden one in real life. They will praise breeds with horrific animations and then crap all over properly done ones, it drives me nuts lol.

Oh they look so cool and gorgeous!! Amazing job on the American Saddlebred! Oh it's so apparent now how outdated the starter looks compared to the other horses. If we are going to get gen 4 horses (as in them being compatible for breeding and customazation) then it would be great if they started with the starter horse and give it an updated more generation 3 look. Right now it looks more generation 2.

The canter and gallops def need another frame as the leading forelegs sort of pause before continuing the animation. Sad they didn't make a plain chestnut. That's like THE color you think when you think Saddlebred. Like a buckskin for mustang or white for Arabian. And I thought I might get the bay but they once again made some random stripe line that makes the face look crooked.

How they got some of the REALLY BASIC things wrong is impressive. The neck is not LONG or high enough, and HOW do you have one of the most iconically HIGH STEPPING horses in history have a trot that is lower than the Dutch warmblood? The idle animation also, HOW do you miss the iconic Saddlebred STRETCH for the idle animation? The long tail is cool though

Everytime there's a spoiler I think 'oh neat' and everytime the comments are filled with people having insane hyper realistic expectation of this highly stylized game. Yes the gaits area bit stiff but I don't think they're that bad. I hope they tweak the the special gaits because they look a bit... off. I don't mind the jumps or the trot tho, when you're racing you're not even going to be paying that much attention to them anyway and nothing looked TOO out of place (them poor connie ponies man)

Even stylized, breeds like the Dutch Warmblood, Paint, and Appy are PHENOMENAL bc they're fluid, look athletic, and don't look like they're made to insult toddlers. Some of the other SSO breeds? Either feel 90% recycled, look like they're in pain when they move, or have lackluster coats that a toddler on MS Paint could've done better...it's the inconsistency that's the issue.

This stuff ain't easy especially when dealing with higher ups. A LOT of you if not most players critique the creative team when their work is bound by executive decisions 99.9% of the time so you're not criticizing the right people and you're not going for the source! The artists just have to push a product out the door and have bills to pay, please think about that next time. Its been a known fact that management at Starstable has been ass for lack of better words so I'm not shocked that things look rough around the edges.
Also just because artists can make something realistic doesn't mean they always should. Stylistic choice isn't always insulting to the real thing. Is My Little Pony an 'insult made by toddlers' to you too? Because the whole point of stylistic choice is to use reality only as a base, not strict rule. Like I said I'm an artist, I can draw realistic animals but do I? nope! Because I needed to learn how they worked first BEFORE I could apply my own style. Unfortunately whether it looks good or not depends on who looks at it. Just because you don't vibe with it doesn't make the art bad. I'm so sick of SSO players not understanding these things so yall can either read this and go down a Google rabbit hole yourselves so maybe you'll learn something but I ain't wasting my time on folks who believe every horse game under the sun as to be super hyper realistic. I'd wager like 70% of ASBs are chestnuts (I've worked with saddlebred trainers for 5+ years before my current gig) and not including even ONE chestnut is ridiculous. The arabians have three, yes THREE, grays but the ASBs doesn't even get a chestnut? That's like a dog game making a corgi and not making a single orange and white variant. It's bonkers at best, lmao. I'm not at all under selling the amount of work that went into the coats they did make, I'm complaining that apparently no one thought a chestnut would be a good idea for the ASB even though, let's be honest, if someone knows an ASB irl it's a chestnut...
