I don't think its because they aren't American. Look at someone like Arnold Schwarzenegger who is Austrian. He was massively popular with American audiences in the 80's and 90's because he just had the "it" factor. Guys like Jokic, Giannis, and Luka are remarkably talented and all-time greats, sure, but they are all just missing something. Just because someone or something isn't American doesn't mean it can't work in the US- anime, sushi, The Beatles, AC/DC, Harry Potter, K-Pop, yoga, pizza, etc. If there is anyone that will be the face of the NBA in the next few years, my money is on Ant or Wemby.

I disagree. Wemby is good, and so is Ant man, but their game is quiet. That's the problem. And yes, the international players are perhaps subconsciously omitted from consideration. This post is 5 mos old, but her box office has translated to the WNBA. At the end of the day its all about highlights and doing something thats out of this world. Most players now days are great offensively and being overlooked how good they are, however they dont have that wao factor. MJ and Kobe has great foot work and that sexy fade away, lebron's athletic ability and crazy dunks and chase down blocks. Wembany is starting to look like that next dude, if he stays healthy.
7 footers are hard to Identify with. Their game is only possible with other 7 footers. Kareem was admired but no one at the time emulated him in the school yard. With the media now a days. it is even more difficult for see them playing like a center.

I like to use the 2k series covers as reference for "faces" of the NBA, and at one point Giannis was heavily marketed by it and the media, so it's not so much that they are "Europeans" if you catch my drift. SGA has the best shot in the NBA, He is the best player on what should be the best team of the next decade, he has a great work ethic, a game that should age well & his team mates are fine with being the supporting cast & they have the draft capital to stay good even with the modern cap, Luca is awesome, I don't see his health holding up for long though.
2 more years... maybe 3. Then the team will be broken up. OKC is not Golden State or even the Celtics. They can not, and will not, go over the 2nd apron for more then maybe one year. They are more like the Nuggets, sho slowly but surely loose piece after piece from their Championship roster. And in 2 years Chet/J-Dub want to get payed and SGA can sign a Supermax Extension! Means barely any room under the 2nd Apron. So all the good roleplayers (Caruso/Hartenstein/Dort/Joe/J-Will) will be replaced by new inexperienced rookies.
So no, the new CBA is designed to prevent any Dynasties. So SGA will have a short window to win some chips. Not to mention he just isnt "Superstar" material to begin with. He is to reserved and somewhat boring.

SGA will get the 35% max, and theThunder have to hope neither Chet or J-Dub reach an All NBA team. Cause if they do, they will get a 30% max as well (if not "only" 25%). Means 85%-95% of the cap will be payed to 3 guys... And I dont think the Thunder, as a small market team, can do that. It is what it is.
Btw, I wouldnt be suprised if the NBA will add 2 more teams in the next view years (Seattle + Las Vegas are the clear options). And what happens then? Noone knows how teams will look after that!

-Embid is injury prone and struggles to make it past the second round. The best ability for a player to have is availability.
-Giannis plays for a small market team and despite his play style being entertaining the Warriors with Curry and the Cavs with Lebron overshadowed the first half of his prime since they were better teams, more exciting, and dynastic.
-Luka puts up great stats and is decently entertaining to watch play. But he’s no MVP since his team finishes at the middle of the pack every season and they’ve never made a deep playoff run. LBJ was in a similar situation with a subpar team during his first stint with the Cavs and still led them to the finals.
-Jokic is boring to watch play despite being immensely talented. His championship ring from last year is not that impressive since the nuggets played subpar matchups. They’re playing a great team in the playoffs for the first time in a while and they’re getting embarrassed.
Anthony Edwards is going to be the new face of the league. The Timberwolves are on pace to make the Confrence Finals at least and likely the NBA finals led by him and he hasn’t even entered his prime yet. His babymomma drama situation is nothing in comparison to Kobe’s seggs assault case and MJ being forced to temporarily retire early in the middle of his prime due to off court antics.

Magic and Bird, MJ, KB and Bron didn't win a championship or even in their prime when they were starting to become the faces of the league. They eventually did but the interest around theses players were by the fans and the league capitalized on them. Jokic and Giannis aren't as social as the other great players in the league and probably because they are foreigners. Players like Anthony Edwards are not only great young talents but he is also not afraid and he is willing to be in the spot light unlike Jokic. It's less about American vs European and its more about a business that at the end of the day they need to sell tickets and jerseys. Also Luka hasn't won anything either but you mentioned him like he has accomplished anything more than James Harden when he was scoring or Westbrook when he become MVP and they were never the faces of the league.

Exactly, younger american players in the USA have the potential to be the face of the league but it has been ending in a self sabotage in the last years, they drop the chance themselves. Scoot Henderson as an example had a really great case in all honesty to make the first step towards it but his game didn't show up on court. A rivalry in the rookie seasons of Scoot and Wemby would've honestly been a great case but the chance has been dropped almost

We are using old methodology and that actually might be the problem. With only having one face to the NBA is what is hurting it and is creating an ignorant fan base.
So this is my question..., Why do we have one face when we have 30 teams. Why can't we have several players? This allows for the fan base to gain a broader view of the league and have better knowledge of the top teams and their players. By discussing a broader spectrum of players, fans can gain insight as to different styles of play, why one player is more effective than another. They can understand why a team like the Nuggets are as effective as they are even though they only have 1 all star. If the NBA is marketed this way the rivalries will spring up as a matter of discourse.
A more knowledgeable fan base leads to greater support, leads to exciting match ups, leads to a better product and will lead hopefully, to better analysts, better podcasts, better commentary. And hopefully will reduce the BS narratives, the misinformation, the blatant lies, the character assassinations, the player disrespect and the inaccuracy of a players skills and ability.

MVP, Finals MVP, championship rings, even Olympic victories, even the eternal GOAT debate - all these have more validity than this "Face" label. You’re doing mental gymnastics to keep his name out of your argument because you know it discredits your “anti-international” claim and destroys your entire 20 minute video. He is 20 years old and is unanimously known by all nba fans and media as having the potential to be the greatest player of all time, if not a top 5 player. There's one problem I can see with Clark as the next face of basketball: the media have, for some reason, joined with the league is doing to her the same as you described them doing to the European players who have all the stats and qualifications (other than being American). I can't figure out why they're doing it, but it's so obvious all of TH-cam is talking about it. They bypass her, laud others' stats and records while not mentioning hers that are much more spectcular (and sometimes arguably more honestly earned), and just generally try to brush by her as the brush by the Europeans in the NBA.
I'd love to know what's going on. One TH-cam guy has said it's because she won;t "sell her soul," but I don't know what he's referring to, so I have no way of knowing if he's on to something.
All I know is, whatever's going on is very weird, because all these money-grabbing institudtions are acting against their own financial interest, big time, in their treatment of Clark, and they have to know it...uet they persiist.

It's pretty simple on who is going to be the Face Of The League after LeBron Jokic and Luka, both are amazing players but don't have the personality to be the Face, Giannis, Kawhi, AD etc. are too old now I think the NBA needs someone at least 25 and younger to be the face, and most of them don't have the right personality either, so I think it is going to be either wemby or ant which I think it is ant because he is very likable, has an interesting and exciting game and has a great personality to be the face and he is entering his play has skyrocketed lately and is closer to his prime then wemby I think the other players will amazing players and be very popular I just think ant is going to be the face.
