Tom, I have a totally unrelated question about the flashing green light when using the self-timer. Is it really true that the light can't be turned off? I have read the manual and that section multiple times. My Focus Assist light is off. Still the blasted green light blinks each time I use the self-timer. I thought to myself, surely it can be turned off but so far, I have not found a way. If it can't be turned off, that is really a dumb design decision. I keep thinking I'm just missing something. Any ideas there?
Hi Philip, thanks for watching! I have not come across a way to turn it off but I do have a temporary solution for you....gaffers tape. It's not an ideal solution but it will work. I currently have orange gaffers tape over my vertical shutter button so that I don't accidentally trigger the shutter with my palm (somehow I unlock it when I grip the camera body). I recommend black though if you have it so it blends in.
Hi Tom . Thank you for this tutorial , I was able to set up my Z8. My question is once you have set up the 4 custom banks can you over ride them with values which you see fit while taking the shot ? or are you stuck with it. Can you switch off this if so how.
Hi Satish! Yes you can override them and your changes will stay in place until you reload them. I recommend saving your settings to a card so you can reload them as necessary. I have a dedicated card for this. Thanks for watching!
Hi Tom. Like your setups for the Z9. Recently acquired one to replace my D810. Mostly do wildlife and scenery photography. One thing about the Z9- a lot to learn as it seems like the first time I got to use a spreadsheet. Yep easy to open but then what. Power tool when mastered correctly, I too have a problem with the newsletter link and the redirection. Tried the added URL directly still no luck. Then I remembered to pause the AD block feature on my browser (Safari on MacBook Pro). Hope this helps other who run into this.
Thanks Ed for watching! Yes the Z9 has a bit of a learning curve. I'm starting to use it for video and feel Iike I'm starting over with it. lol. I noticed that you had subscribed twice so I sent you an email with the direct link. It's happening to about 10% of the folks that click on the link. Thanks for posting the tip! ...and thanks again for watching!!
So I clicked on the link for the templates and subscribed but no templates were there. I was not redirected nor can I find them on your website. How do we get them? Thx
Hi Teri! Your browser might be preventing the redirect. I added the URL to the message after you hit submit just in case this happened. Look right below the submit button, it should be there.
I switched from lumix s1r/leica to nikon z9. This topic drives me creazy. With lumix and fuji you can setup your whole camera with one custom setting. I can’t understand the design philosophy of nikon to do it this way.
The PDFs are very helpful Tom Thank you!
Great!! I’m glad they help….they helped me for sure. :)
good stuff
Thanks!
Thanks, i use your video for my Z8
Awesome! Glad it helped and thanks for watching!
Great video. Very helpfull. Thank you.
Very glad that it helps! Thanks for watching!
How can you have the Top Control Panel get brighter?
I don't believe it's possible.
So, subscribed but no luck getting the templates. Could I also have them via mail?
Your browser is likely blocking the redirect. Here's the link to the page: tomreploglephotography.com/youtube/

Hi Tom. I just found your channel. Off topic, what rubber eyecup are you using on your Z9?
Hi Jon, it's a Hoodman eyecup. Works great! Thanks for watching!
