Sonia, you are SO BRAVE. Seriously. To let all of this go. I admire it. You know what's funny, I had all my eyeshadow palettes laid out on my counter and my husband was like...how is it you even know what you have? Also, I've realized that my green eyeshadows don't look good on me. I need to let them go, but when you think about the money....that's the problem. So, you are so brave! Good for you. You must feel lighter! I need to get rid of lipsticks, too. Take care.

@@sonia.butler I can't wait. I've been accumulating base products and with each purchase...which I can't seem to stop myself from doing...I just get this larger sense of dread. Like I have too much and I can't stop. So I have to stop, too!

A little late watching this! BUT this is my fave category and I’ve recently just got my color analysis and I’m finding that most of the palettes I have don’t even suit me. Needless to say I need to do the same 😮
Palette declutter is my favorite type of declutter. I remember loving the michele wang declutters and fawning over alllll the makeup. Its also the most sentimental category for me to declutter 🙈😭 good luck on your own declutter journey. I hope the videos can inspire. We can do it together. Also, i truly feel so much better about my collection. Like a weight has been lifted. I know exactly what i own and where to find it. This suits me much better!

Thanks so much! I'm doing ok. Hope you are doing well as well..i needed a break from YT both filming and viewing. I felt an immense pressure to perform and to make content but i needed to just survive. Its going to take me such a long time to be back to where and who i was. I hope a good declutter can give me a mental reset! Glad to inspire!
Good to see you back. Hope everything gets settled and you find a beautiful home. I also feel bad about some of my unused palettes, I just don’t have anyone to give it to, in my area no one is really wearing any makeup apart from some mascara.. but it is a shame for them not getting used more 😢
I hate feeling bad about my collection. My family doenst really wear makeup but some colleagues and friends do! I do sell some palettes that are almost unused. Usually for a third of the price i bought it or less. I use the money to reinvest in my channel and collection. As long as everyone is happy!
Anyway, maybe something you could do as well. Oh! And some people they hide their palettes and slowly pick them up again after some time. It gives that NEW palette feeling. Also a good way to use palettes
Hoi, Sonia, i type dit even in het Nederlands, als iemand er last van heeft vertaal ik het later wel even. Maar ik vind het zoooo dapper van je, oogschaduw, van alle makeup!👏👏👏👏👏👏Ik heb 2 jaar geleden alles wat Pat McGrath, Natasha Denona, Sydney Grace, soort van formule had, weggedaan, te gevoelige ogen. Heel veel paletten, was even lastig, maar nooit meer omgekeken, en ik mis ze niet. Maar nog veel, vooral kleinere paletjes, zoals Suqqu, Chanel, Chantecaille etc, lukt niet hoor om die weg te doen, zo leuk zijn ze! Ik hoop dat je gelukkig bent in je nieuwe huis, en fijn gevoel denk ik voor je, ff lekker opruimen, ik ben niet goed in opruimen, maar als het wel weer eens lukt, het ruimt ook je hoofd op, Sonia! Ik vind oogschaduw declutters het moeilijkst! Ik ben namelijk niet erg sentimenteel behalve dan met palettetjes😭 maar de video is een tijd geleden gefilmd en ik mis inderdaad helemaal geen enkele palette. En andere mensen zijn super blij met een goedkope palette. Mijn moeder heeft uit wat uitgekozen. Ik denk dat ik ooit al mijn charlotte tilbury ga weg doen en dat is een raar idee. Maar al mijn PML, ND zijn ook al weg. Past gewoon niet bij mij nu. Ik heb al een declutter gefilmed van mijn base makeup. Heel benieuwd wat jullier ervan vinden. He echt veel weggedaan. Ook makeup die ik mooi vind maar gewoon niet gebruik ❤️ hopelijk inspireerd het mensen. Leuk dat we een beetje dezelfde journey hebben

@luvlost03 i review makeup so others can make informed buying decisions. Keeping my makeup from a brand for swatch comparisons is a great way to inform buyers by using visual comparisons! I am glad she uses my channel for VBB reviews!

This was brutal haha but I know the feeling...sometimes tastes change and holding on to things is impractical. That said, I actually have a drawer of "nostalgia" makeup and it is mostly a few eyeshadow palettes that I have kept for a variety of sentimental reasons. Most of them are too old to gift, or too colourful....but I will keep them literally till they start to stink. 🤣
Ahhh i just didnt want to do that. Its not me. I have so much stuff that reminds me of my son. Holding on onto makeup ... its just not me. At best i have this video. This declutter that will immortalize my little ND palette with the nail marks. I think its enough. Im not nostalgic with makeup normally. But i have a harder time with eyeshadow palettes
Two things, first, your only 34. You cannot be feeling older yet. Give it another ten years, then allow yourself to feel a bit older. Secondly, we go through these two trends every few years, everyone loved neutrals, then everyone loved colors, now everyone loves neutrals again. The only difference is for some reason when we are in the neutral phase, Influencers seem to get rid of all their colorful palettes. Until a few more years pass and then it’s back to buying colorful eyeshadow’s again. Thirdly, where and how often is everyone traveling that they need to save so many palettes to do so? One or 2 I understand but some Influencers save like 10 palettes for traveling. Someone tell me, where is everyone going so many times a year? 😂. @@purpleivy9174 neutral palettes have always been my number 1. Always!!!! Being boring with my makeup is the most honest version of myself. But, as a working, divorced mum to a toddler and a pup…. Im not pulling out my color palettes to do a cut crease. I don’t party. I feel tired.
My skin has changed since I turned 32. I see it in the skincare items that work for me now and the base makeup. It’s not the same anymore. My old products don’t wear the way the used to. And especially filming and putting myself on camera I notice it in High Definition! 😩
I could have easily decluttered more, but palettes can be a sentimental thing! I’m a hobbyist and makeup lover first and foremost! Influencer…. I dunno I’m still a micro channel but I would consider it a part time gig hahaha. I love having choices still and trying new formulas. As long as you don’t bankrupt yourself, it’s ok if you want a large collection or a small one. I’d rather have 100 neutral palettes than 20 colorful ones. But having the freedom to choose is what’s most important. And maybe it’s the case that when colorful palettes are trending, the market and customers follow?! But that’s ok. My makeup collection grows and downsizes depending on my preferences. My collection often reflects me as a person.
After my divorce I stopped wearing makeup. My hair kept falling out. So skincare and hair care are currently important to me. I barely use my palettes and that makes me sad. I rather see them go to makeup lovers that will use them and adore them. I’m happy people like my declutter though! I think it won’t be my last palette declutter for 2024. I know it can be upsetting to see the palettes go. But I truly believe they are going to makeup loving homes ❤️ better than collecting dust in my drawer.
I think you shoul sell all off the declutter ones these are expensive and you barely used
Some I sell if I think it’s barely used and still ok. Some I gift and I do throw away things I am just not…. Daring to gift or wear

It is! But giving palettes a new home instead of them collecting dust I find a better option. Also changing purchasing habits have helped a lot!
Always so fun to see your collection! I am too weak to do a serious declutter. I still have my first eyeshadow palette from circa 2014 😂 but I feel you. This season of life with young kids is not conducive to fun, multiple shadow looks. Thank you for sharing!
Eyeshadow palettes hold the most sentiment to me! Its hard! But its also the makeup item that i dont really use anymore. So i wanna just break away a little. I am hoping to film some good decluttering today! Wish me luck!
The reality is that you decluttered the big florasis one from your usable collection. It's just art now. Make the resolution to frame it now. It's beautiful enough that you could hang it anywhere.
I was thinking the same! Its not part of my collection anymore but it is part of my home. I have an idea in my head for it. I also have the chantecaille pearl collection i havent decluttered but its not part of my collection purely for this reason. Frame it and make it part of my journey❤️
I have no problem decluttering my entire makeup collection….except eyeshadows!
While I love all of my makeup, I think of most items in a more utilitarian way than my eyeshadows. I just find it hard to get rid of even the ones I don’t use much anymore. They speak more to creativity for me, and I get attached to them. I respect that you were able to declutter the things you weren’t using!!! BUT I’d definitely keep the ND mini with your son’s divots!!! You are stronger than me! 😂😂 I’m glad you kept the Gucci that brings you happiness!
Seeing what you have but haven’t used because they are still in the boxes since you moved was really interesting and helpful. I don’t keep boxes, but I could put things in a drawer and if I didn’t reach for them in a few months it could sort of doing the same thing. I need to do it, but I’m not sure I’m ready! 😂😂
Eyeshadow palettes are hard for me to get rid off. But right now its just collecting dust. Maybe a few palettes get some use! I felt empowered. Like i could start over! I wanna get rid of more now.
The lisa eldridge ones keep me creative. And i love neutral palettes. I still have 28 palettes! Which is insane.

I remember when Morgan Turners channel was under 4000 and knew she would do great and she exceeded my expectations. As long as you have the willpower and you love what you do it will happen. I wanted to be a TH-camr but something happened and I lost half of my teeth leaving only a few at the front I’m gutted as I have wanted to do it since I was 40 so 8 1/2 yrs ago ! I wish there was something I could do to get my smile back but for now watching good content !

Sonia, I must say straight up front that I'm a tad concerned about you. It's like you have no colour left in your life and this shows through your make-up. Everything is from the brown family of shades. Not even some lovely pinks or peaches to liven up the spirits, (I know you have the LE palettes, yet when do we ever see you wear them?). I can hear it in your voice. As one whom is somewhat more advanced in years than yourself, we all go through times of preferring a certain look which is convenient to our life circumstances and what we may be going through. When I see the cost of the products that you are throwing away not all that long after being so excited about buying them, it worries me. The spark in your voice has dimmed also. Have you ever thought that these items that you're flippantly tossing away could be helpful to your Channel? From what I can see of your new home, it has no colour either. Make-up can be wonderful in lifting our moods, believe me as I most definitely have much experience in this area. Not that I've ever suffered depression, yet living in excruciating pain 24hrs per day for close to 38yrs isn't exactly a ball of fun. When I had broken my predominant arm in three places a few years back, it was make-up that became part of my therapy. Due to losing so much weight, I had to tone down my eye-shadows to peach and pink shades to soften the appearance of my drawn in face. As I was unable to go outside, I looked extremely pale, yet after buying some bronzer online, it made a world of difference to how I felt when I couldn't help but see myself in the bathroom mirror as that's where the basin is placed. In about the last six weeks, I've been knocked down badly by illness twice! I still hadn't come close to recovering from the first, when I was struck down again. Despite not going anywhere, I do my best to apply some eye make-up, lipstick and sometimes a wash of blush and highlighter. Due to looking much better, it reflects in my moods. I was initially worried when spying your Mediterranean Quad from Chanel on top of your pile. Many still have regrets of not getting that Quad when released, as it's become an icon. Have you thought that you may simply be going through a phase of preferring a more simple look at present? I'd be much happier if you decided to add some colour from those LE palettes to your life and sound a bit more cheerier. What you've been through is one of the toughest experiences in life and it's not surprising that you maybe are feeling a bit down. It's a grieving process and will pass. I've never in my lifetime had shadow that has ever gone off or mouldy on me. It would have been nice to see you keep some palettes, like your Dior Poncho that you were so excited about getting not that long ago. At least, could you add some coloured lines to your eye looks to just brighten up all of that miserable brown. Of course, there's nothing wrong with this family of shades, yet when almost every shadow you have is this colour, it's a worry. Have I ever told you that I've never had a favourite colour in all of my of my lifetime? I love colour so much that I could never chose one over another.
Have you thought this may simply be a phase where you are preferring to keep things simple? A wise choice could be to store some of your favourites out of sight until you're ready to embrace them again. Sending you much love and support whilst you go through this transition. Getting rid of my color is probably a phase. One that my divorce has really jumpstarted. I like minimal makeup or no makeup. My daily life is very much skincare based with a lip oil and some mascara. Maybe a tiny bit of concealer and powder. Some days i do more but its been very minimal. I like leaning into my preferences.
I also get stressed when i see unused makeup. I feel bad! So its actually better for my mental health to declutter. Coz the makeup i own is often the makeup i actually wear. Some years a large collection suits me. But now... my brain is wanting a smaller one.
Luckily, i have this channel and review makeup still. So i can always buy the newer launches for review and new colorful palettes will enter my collection once more. But i honestly think a deep declutter is good for me. I declutter great things that just dont suit my current preferences. I make others happy by gifting them. Its a win win. I dont like gifting makeup i hated btw. I feel like thats a burden.
Anyway, i want you to know that i am healing. I am ok. This is part of my process and i think its good to see it through ❤️
