Hey chicken wired first off man sorry I haven't commented on your videos in a while I just noticed I don't know how it happened probably when I drop my phone I had to re-subscribe your channel but I'm glad I found it very very interesting video I too enjoy poultry history well actually I also agree 100% about your remark on research and I agree with your theory 100% to sir I'll tell you why I lived in San Antonio Texas for a couple years in the late 80s got to be friends with a few chicken guys down there one of them just happened to raise a lot of white hackles and as I'm sure you can understand he was pretty tight-lipped about how they were bred exactly what you said about the hens I saw on his yard and amazingly he claimed those hens were hatch hens that he liked using them for his outcross I never spend any money on them I just enjoyed visiting with him and seeing his Birds you know I just thought you might find that interesting I saw exactly what you described about these birds in person, it's kind of sad when it comes to Performance breeds of anytime lot of the old-timers just wouldn't tell you exactly how things were made there was a famous dog breeder years ago who would like to tell people I'll sell you a good dog but I won't sell you the recipe that made him hope you have a good hatch this year man I know we've all had more than our share of rain hang in there the hick in the sticks in soaked Illinois

I used to love reading old Piper’s articles. His favorite pit was Troy, NY and he absolutely believed that somewhere a strain of 100% dead game fowl existed. He never found them but he believed they existed!

@@ChickenWired Something happened that amazed me. My Round heads are a family that I've had for 20 years. I have never out crossed when breeding pure. Never had to. Started with a Trio. And the Hens were half sisters. They have come 100% pea comb and predominantly pearl legs, 85% spangled and 15% red. A yellow leg every once in a while... This year I have two guail size pullets with straight combs... They look like pure Claret... I saw your video about thrownacks... It has happened to me. Never before... Amazing... Have a great day.

There are still white hackle gamefowls in northumberland the border county with scotland they are mainly white legged and red some spangled and very aggressive
Red quills are dark legged fowl made from OLD ENGLISH GAME FOWL. If they are yellow legged it’s a HULSEY PUMPKIN & the white legged ones are MORGAN WHITE HACKLES.
Redquills are dark legged, yes. Dark legs are modified versions of light legs. Blue leg is a modified white, green leg is a modified yellow. Lose the modifier gene and you're back to yellow or white. Also, if you read the various histories on the Redquills more than one mention that they had red eyes and yellow legs early on. My guess is it is from the Redhorse blood which was the foundation of the Redquills. Also, the blood that was the foundation of the Morgans came white and yellow legged. The Redquills of today are blue or green legged, yes. But that doesn't mean that they didn't have other leg colors early on.

Sir. Can you explain if Kearney hackles and Morgan's hackles are the same. Or if all hackles differ. A novice.
Kearney whitehackles are of Irish decent while most other whitehackles were of English decent. Very similar type of birds though.
