    Do check state and area hunting the laws as in some states or specific areas they do not allow use of non metal broadheads. I know in South Dakota the Cheap shot a non metal broadhead is legal but not sure on this Buzzsaw for big game as those lower parts might be considered a barb type blade that is illegal in South Dakota for hunting big game.

    • @LuskArcheryAdventures
      @LuskArcheryAdventures ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. What would be considered barbed about the Buzzsaw? If the back edge of the blade approaches the shaft at 90 degrees or more, it is not considered barbed.

    • @caseysmith544
      @caseysmith544 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the smaller blades are not considered part of the main blade as in bleaders within the blade area and are not over 1/2 inch they are barbed bits on blades in South Dakota or at least can be interpreted as this.
      In South Dakota I know they allow other materials for a blade except stone/minerals that are considered rocks, or bone. This was to stop the old ways of Natives from using these materials so then in late 1800 and early 1900 the Trade blades came out where they would trade stone heads or bone heads made for spears or bows to some places for metal to make blades out of if hunting outside the tribe's land, they are registered as a part of as then they were not subject to the same rules or at least the Triabal police/Tribal Game Fish & Parks, they would not care if they were breaking the law if from that tribe as only people registered in that tribe are allowed to hunt and fish it.

    Plastic but the name is cold Steel ? Interesting. Not mentioned John, but would be a very good turkey head along with raccoon and rabbit etc. So as I can see Lone Wolf and this head are both plastic composites ? I've seen other Chinese offerings on amazon as well. So, there's something going on and a few people look like they are trying to get to the finish line with some sort of finished product to corner a market, which I believe is COST because heads are zooming in price.
    As with the Lone Wolf, this head leaves you wanting more. In fact,the Lone Wolf might have impressed me more ? Obviously there needs to be more R&D and I will hold judgement so as to not discourage the designers,but just allowing them to see and compare themselves and experiment and improve in multiple areas. In this test, durability to the edge, and it's sharpness. That 1/2 inch hole thru steel, while being impressive it blew thru, disappointing it shrunk so much off edge retention. If this is what the design is going to do, just straight power bludgeon,why not made the edges fatter so they can be a bit stronger ? Will still penetrate ok with enough poundage and arrow weight.

    • @LuskArcheryAdventures
      @LuskArcheryAdventures ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the comment. I'm not sure what Lone Wolf head you're referencing. The only one I know about is an aluminum head. I think the only "place" for these Cold Steel heads is in smaller game--like a throw away head, cause they're so cheap. The Lone Wolf heads are fairly expensive.

      @bigpicklerick No arrows can be ethical as long as they don't have junk broad heads that a dull. Ethical bow hunting requires incredibly sharp broadheads and a good shot. Shooting deer with a gun can also lead to just an injured deer or a deer who dies and is never found. No one method of taking a deer is unethical.
      I have discussed this 4 times this week, along with a person trying to tell me cutting lettuce is unethical.

    • @bigpicklerick
      @bigpicklerick ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chasingthefish9042 i ain't talking about lettuce buddy, but a well placed arrow is still not gana do the same instantaneous damage as a well placed rifle round, a arrow relies on cutting vessels to cause blood loss a rifle uses the kinetic energy to disrupt and tear the internal organs causing massive trauma and drop in blood pressure,a heart shot with bow is still a slower death then a heart shot with a rifle. To say that a primitive weapon like a bow is ethical is the same as saying a sword or knife is ethical. They aren't as effective at killing things if they were then we would use them in warfare still. You gut shot a deer with a 30-06 you got a dead deer it may run a mile but it's dead, you guts shot a deer with an arrow and it has a higher chance of survival. Smithsonian has a deer body with a arrow encapsulated in a ribcage that healed up. That deer was killed by a different hunter who used a rifle. Ethical refers to the speed of killing and 15 seconds bleeding out is different then getting your heart and lungs torn to pieces and then falling over already dead. I share you a link of some war footage with people getting shot and guess what they die a lot faster then if they were using arrows.

    Funny but the only valuable real test is the field test by actually hunting with these.

      Thanks for watching and sharing that. But that’s not entirely true. There are so many variables affecting how a Broadhead does on an animal: shot placement, anatomy, movement of the animal after its been hit, etc. my tests are designed to provide data points based on consistent testing in consistent mediums and consistent conditions.
      I do agree that all that ultimately matters is whether you harvest the animal or not. But the more data you have to help discern the effectiveness of a broadhead is definitely worthwhile.

      @@LuskArcheryAdventures I understand your point of view and your scientific methodology but ultimately what will really tell us if this broahead is suitable for hunting or not is to see what damage it does on a stressed muscle, penetration in various organs, how the bones deflect or not the plastic point, and the hemorrhage it will cause.
