When a party becomes that which it was set up to oppose it loses in every conceivable way. Thankfully voting for leader was fairly recently opened to the Labour Party and the PLP Parliamentary Labour Party neoliberal hegemony is no longer standing in the way. J.Corbyn is the first leader of a main party to stand against neoliberalism for over 35 years. In 1979 clause four was still intact.

Happy about this result. I just hope that the Remainer coalition work together to look at the long term welfare of our country. Brexit is dangerous for us. Time to stop being little Englanders and look outwards. The world is on a dangerous path. The UK has always been at the forefront of international dynamics and espousing values of democracy and freedom. Brexit is not the answer. Well done Jane. Lots fo work to do. But we can stop Brexit!

mhffc the largest democratic vote in UK history won of lies. I voted leave, but it didn’t take me long to figure out who argued for realism and common sense and who argued for fantasies.
There is nothing undemocratic about another vote. If you’re so confident in leave than it may win again. There has to be a large, clear majority. Not 2%.
Talk about privilege by the way, all those campaigning for vote leave are part of the establishment. It’s the British ruling elite that want brexit because they’ll profit from it. People like me and those that I know, won’t.

The Tories won 48% of the vote in the last election. If that's not a safe seat then the Tories are in serious trouble. It was safe, they just lost it. A majority of 8,000 was wiped out just after the hard-Brexiteer Boris Johnson was chosen as prime minister, with the sea falling to the most pro-European party standing.

True but in this case it may have been wiser for the sake of BREXIT, for the Brexit Party to allow the Tories to have the seat; they clearly split the vote. Maybe Farage was hoping this would happen. It is clear that the Tories are stealing the Brexit Party/and UKIP's (well, not sure about UKIP as it is in a mess currently, but back in the day UKIP anyway, prior to the silliness ruining it now) key messages to a large extent. Nige might be playing a shrewd game with the weak, now ultra thin majority of just 1 that Boris now has.
Jo Swinson is now going off on one as we speak on the news lapping the situation up. LibDems are even crazier than the Corbynistas. Nige probably playing the long game (as ever) to tackle any probable General Election which the remainers want too. Only the Tories fear the general election (Labour outwardly demands one, but is too feckless and crazy now to realise it'd be wiped out in one, so it doesn't fear the prospect of a general election when it ought to)
