    Good video. The most important part is how to move money in and out of Vietnam. Setting up a business with a strong lawyer in this field is paramount. I already did that 3 years ago and no regrets. This video reiterates what expats should do. Nice to have a backup team for quality checks and logistics.

      Thanks Martin for sharing your experience doing business in manufacturing and exporting. As you mention, getting proper advice to incorporate a company, start properly into a new country is mandatory. Working with a legit law firm having experience with foreign and international challenges is a key thing to avoid mistakes and get reliable information about the hassles of 'money transfers' 😅

    I am from Sydney, Australia and would love to source good quality building materials for a house I am building. Is it worth it? Do they have australian building standard products? I have been to Vietnam as a volunteer English Teacher a few times and just love the people. Some of there modern cafe, buildings had beautiful windows and doors.

    • @MoveToAsia
      @MoveToAsia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Lisa, Vietnam is an indoor and outdoor products manufacturing player so surely you can find the products you are mentioning here. But if it's 'only' for your current house, I guess it may not be worth it to contact suppliers here rather than dealing directly with some resellers directly in your home country. Of course it will be more pricey than buying in Vietnam but including the shipping, customs, etc ... I think it's better getting in touch with the shops you have directly in Sydney. Cheers

      Sourcing and manufacturing in Vietnam won't be something so easy to jump if you never worked on this field before. But if you have an idea of the kind of products you would want to export from Asia (China or Vietnam) to sell overseas, then going through sourcing agent or just coming by yourself to investigate the market is something achievable.

    Further to my previous comments. Some things to note. Whilst China is vastly different to Vietnam when doing business expats should take away a few things from your video. USA and other countries are going away from China as the only source of supply for certain goods. To combat trade wars and rising costs in China, many set up factories and relabel their goods as made in Vietnam. If you are in the same industry and don't already have an established company the competition can be brutal. Covid19 is currently in Da Nang, a popular tourist area and business area outside HCM. A factor that cannot be ignored as there is a likelihood of a shut down. As reiterated many times in your video's a strong partnership is required and almost mandatory in order to succeed. Quality control can often be obtained inhouse in many of the major factories. Due diligence is always necessary, so make sure you choose wisely. Either in house quality checks or use a trusted third party. Its cheaper than insurance and having to deal with problems later.

      Hi John, now it's not that easy as the border is still closed. Only 'experts' are allowed to come and Vietnamese to come back. Can you postponed your trip in a few months when the current situation will be smooth ?

      John - during normal times, all you need is a relationship with one of your prospective suppliers. That's not difficult to do. Otherwise, you can use use a visa agent such as within Saigon. Much depends on the country you are a citizen of, in terms of length of visa. As for now, Guillaume is correct, you would need to have an agent or the inviting factory complete the paperwork and process for you. Myself I am already one month into the process and I'm still in process. I regularly mfg in Vietnam and have good working relationships there.
