I have met Kishoriji when I was practicing ni on bansuri in alap, sitting at the back entrance, waiting for Guruji to arrive, later they performed together,I sat behind and I also cried, this was next to some cinema complex, somewhere on this lifes journey,Mumbai,India
How does one go from a state of mental turmoil to peaceful bliss in just 10 minutes. Well listen to this. She is goddess Saraswati - no less. And what a beautiful raag Jaijaiwanti is.
There is a Raag in Carnatic system called DwiJawanthi, this and the South Raaga sound similar yet different in the way they are sung. The notes of the Arohan and Avarohan may be the same but they way the Raag is elaborated in the Hindustani system is different!!
Extraordinary. She is literally channelling the divine with a stream of notes that touch your heart and change your brain chemistry. This is deep deep soul music.
I had not heard this rendition before! What a profound experience! The flood gates of bliss were opened up and the soul was carried back to the source, in profound tears !!!
Thank you so much for posting this sir. No one earth will ever be able to portray Jaijaiwanti or any other raag that Tai has sung like her. Thank you for your wonderful work stitching together all these wonderful photos of her too. I swear, I well up every time I see the last photo from her last concert.
That was a rather (rare) insightful post. It appears you have followed didi's gaayaki for some time. What intrigues me is your claim that others don't bring out goodness out of a(ny) raag like kishori ji. I know art and music are extremely subjective, but it'd be an interesting discussion, as to how much you have explored to arrive at that conclusion. That hair in the soup aside, you have got excellent taste.
Ragas were like empty pitchers, and Kishori Tai poured her soul into them which became the water. She poured her soul. And as long as we pour our souls into every Raga, we can reach the same state Kishori Tai reached in music. Perhaps we will not be able to sing like her, but that is not the point. When we have that same level of surrender to a Raga, that Raga may show something different, a different vision that only we can see and sing. But human beings find it difficult to surrender to something formless, that is why there are few musicians like Kishori Tai.
I don't think you have heard many vocalists. I will say very straight that this was very ordinary jaijaiwanti as far as I concern and I heard. It is a very frofound raga. There was no tayyari at all where as the raga demands that aspect. As I noticed she sang all ragas in a same manner. I found her all performances similar and limited according to her comfort and voice.
@@aadilhussaini3741 one can only but laugh on your comment, I recommend read more on her and also her elaboration of swaras, there has been no one like Tai and never will be!
Young Kishoriji. Less somber, a little playful with the notes. Beautiful, yes, both the raga and the voice, as well as the owner of the voice. Jaijawanti on every side.

If it is from the album 'Meera Bhajans', I think the CDs are much available in the market. I share concert recordings mostly, not commercial releases, which have stricter copyright issues.
this is not Chayanat Mislabelled, this is pure Jaijayvanti, interpreted by Kishoritai in her own unique style, while retaining all the purity of the Raga , still singing something uniquely distinct
The drut teental bandish "piya nahi aaye" seems to have the sthayi only. Is this composition unique like tai's other bandish which has only sthai or the recording is incomplete or something else? Please let me know

Of course kishori tai was most beautiful women in classical world of singing.
How contradictory to what she was trying to convey through this quote!
