This was an interesting addition to this series. Much like with Our Worst Days at Sea, I like there being a focus on the waterborne vehicles. I like both trains and ships, so it's nice to see both get a spotlight. All the military history included in this series is something I love as well. Interesting how Johnny Cuba was transformed into an aircraft carrier in his dream. Many early aircraft carriers actually were refitted from merchant ships as seen here. I can't help but wonder how much truth there is to John's dreams. I feel that for whatever reason, he's witnessing past events that actually happened and that he himself wasn't a part of, but he's still forced to bear witness to them anyway. The mystery only thickens. As for this little tale itself, I have a feeling Captain John was the young man whose carelessness started the HMS Sudric hangar fire on May 8th, 1945, the day hostilities were ended, which resulted in the death of the airman. And now, nearly 40 years later, the airman repays the favor. Interesting what role dreams play in this series. The first time we saw a character have something revealed to them in a dream was with Edward in The Missing 411. I wonder how this will come into play later. Overall, I very much enjoyed this. I actually feel that the narration has improved a bit ever since the beginning of this series.
Actually, scratch that, I just remembered that the first time a character had a meaningful dream wasn't Edward in The Missing 411, but Henry all the way back in Henry's Forest. Dreams have been a part of this series since the very beginning. We can only speculate how they may continue to impact the overall plot going forward.
I feel as those the pilot was a bit arrogant in what he was asking for. Sure, having something as honorable as an ace would be the dream. However, I don’t think he should’ve taken it out on the mechanic but that’s just me.
That was a very interesting story. Since the events of the pilot's death took place in Johnny's dream, does that mean he can see past events in his sleep? If so, then that is quite a fascinating ability to have. Also, it seems based on the events of Johnny's dream, that the crewman who knocked out the pilot and started the fire caused a massive explosion on their ship, which was most likely an aircraft carrier, and ultimately caused it to sink. This means that Captain John not only killed a pilot, but likely hundreds of other sailors and crew members who were on board the aircraft carrier at the time. So, in a way, the ghost of the pilot coming back to take the life of Captain John aboard Johnny Cuba was not only avenging his own death, but the death s of many unlucky souls who died due to his negligence. This was a very impressive story for sure, definitely looking forward to more.
Between the ship's crew, the pilots, and the maintenance personnel for the fighters and any marines and other types of military personnel who were also aboard, the accident likely had a kill count of over 1000 people, even after you subtract the hundred confirmed survivors.
Outstanding Performance once again, this really just gives more background to the story as a whole making it more interesting to see what is happening in the past of Johnny Service with the army and the forces at play 😃👍

@@daylight39 Yeah, he did. This is also a bit of an interesting take on Johnny Cuba you've done, because Johnny's actually a notorious gangster in TUGS, which took place back in the 1920's. So it makes me wonder if perhaps Johnny's time in custody or perhaps some other event after the events of TUGS could've pressed him to change his ways and be a honest, hard working vessel.
Turns out he used to be a aircraft haner but he was converted into a cargo ship and one of the crew of the from his previous life seen it and turns out that engineer it is captain who pretended to be a pilot from the war so he ended up taking his life by being a cold hearted and left him to die and burn in his aircraft next to it and rest is complicated and he became a vengeful spirit known as a ace pilot ghost who takes anyone who dares to imitate him by crossing out airplanes and a human that he knows that that they took his life away for unrightful death and he didn't deserve it because he wants it to continue on but an engineer stole his life away and he blames anyone who tries to be like him or take another soul that they didn't know

A bit pointless waiting 40 years for revenge. If he took any longer, the guy would have died of old age.

The ghost of the pilot had revenge against the caption. Also jolly good show.
A nice story again from a nice creator.
Thank you. That means a lot.
Spectacular work as always! What a scary dream!
Was Johnny Cuba turned into a carrier?
Google "merchant aircraft carrier"
