Thank you Pizza...I miss your intros, it's nice to see the person who so kindly provides us with peace and escapism, if only for an hour or so. Thank you so very much.
Until a few months ago, the only thing I had seen Natalie Moorhead in was the Thin Man (1934). But, now I have seen her in a bunch of pre-code movies and she was good in all of them.
"You know, sir, the sea air, always makes you,...wheeze...." If you don't know the dichotomy, in/with this statement,... you do NOT understand comedy. GREAT writing! GREAT directing! -Mr. "X"
These held up quite well quality an sound..thanks the money is only part of the story, black mail holds up .the rest .sailing on the high seas . plot thickens ...
All the naughty bits were removed (or the whole film banned) if a film was re-issued after the code. Since this print is from 1949 we can be sure that it is not pre-code any more.
Has anyone ever noticed the strong resemblance between Jack Mulhall and Ray Walker? They were around more or less at the same time, and could have passed for brothers. They even performed in the same style.
Like almost all vids here the audio just plane sucks if you record something for you tube PLEASE pay attention to the quality of sound tghe video is not very easy to view/listen to if there is little or very low audio not all PC/Notebooks or Android pads are able to amp up to a listenable level. To bad too some good recordings are junk cause NO AUDIO. PLEASE PLEASE up audio levels on record listen to your vid before you upload and re-do if the audio on this recording. Other then that great job just wish I could hear the sound on my systems...
@ JD -- The film was initially released in theaters as LOVE BOUND in 1932. It was packaged for TV broadcast in 1949 and re-titled MURDER ON THE HIGH SEAS. Thanks for watching PizzaFLIX. May the Sauce be With You.
"Twenty thousand for injured reputation" Today, women revel in having a bad reputation. Marriage is a temporary convenience. Lawyers make their filthy lucre from prescription drug suits. Oh how times have changed! 😏
"heart balm" 1:01 . Miss Wilson was awarded $100,000 heart balm and $20,000 for her injured reputation. Was that an accepted term of law or was it just journalese?
At 40:21 note Moorehead's brief odd hand movement as she holds the gun in her right hand and tries to light her cigarette in her left. Major studios would have cut and retaken. Also wait for one of the worst staged fistfights you've ever seen that begins with an expression found only in silent films.
That was 'the Hays Code', so named after Will H. Hays, who was the president of an association of film producers. The idea was to have the studios 'self-censor' themselves and their films. Intimate scenes and blunt speech were forbidden. This was instituted in 1930. It wasn't heavily enforced until 1934. 'Pre-Code' is somewhat of a misnomer because of the varying degrees of enforcement over a span of years. It was eventually shown to be unenforceable and abandoned in in the 1960's. **That's one reason why the stuff coming of Hollywood ever since has been increasingly coarse, vulgar, and 'Politically Correct' and 'woke' besides.
No. Actress Verna Wilson blackmails her married backer, John Randolph Sr., for $100,000 by telling his wife that their relationship is more than professional. His son Dick persuades his mother not to leave the marriage, knowing that his father must be innocent. Determined to find out the truth, Dick and the family chauffeur board a steamship bound for Europe upon which Verna is a passenger.
“You’re overestimating your capacity for courage.” Priceless! 💛
Natalie Moorhead and she lasts the whole movie. What a relief! Nice plot. I wish they could have expanded on it as the movie is too short. Thanks!
It is not too short, today's movies are far too long.
Thank you PF for great movies.
Thank you for this, it was wonderful!
Hi Kathleen 🍕Thanks for watching PizzaFLIX. May the Sauce be with you 🍕

@ Sara: thanks. I’ve been adding movies more regularly now. Some of those intros take awhile.

THAT's where I recognize her... Julia Wolf!
One of the original Platinum Blondes
Thank you PizzaFlix for the upload. Love the art deco of this era so I am in 7th, 8th, and 12th heaven viewing these movies!!!
This movie was before Hollywood ventured into bogus happy endings spry. Twists & turns. Good movie. TY

Redemption of her character through love!….with the unattainable guy
Thank you for great movies.
Most definitely 1932
Worth watching
What a great movie! Love Natalie Moorhead.
Looked up the Barron Tom Ricketts and found he was born in London in 1853 and had over 300 credits to his name Guy spanned a pretty long career.
This movie was originally released in 1932 as “Love Bound”
Correct
Thank you

Good point. I hadn't thought of that. Perhaps PizzaFlix hadn't either when they titled it.
"Copyright 1949? I thought it said 1932," said I, apparently too.
@@gordonwieland2133 I'd love to see the original version in all of it's rawity.
good stuff
brilliant noir 🎥🎥🎥👍🥂

0:07 The title card reads "Copyright 1949", not 1932.

I'm old but this is very old.😂
Any broker is not a fine man, but a rich crook.
Got to go all the way alone. a good one
Sounds like a Jim Morrison song...
Whoever picked that fluffy light opening theme music for a crime drama?
Why did it say copyrighted 1949 if this is from 1932?
Renewed Copyright.
@0:39~ Be very careful who you hire as "servants"!! This was disgusting.

Could someone please tell me what " pre - code " means ?

@@leelarson107 Thank you so much
18:18 and what follows is enough for me to call for the "Code" really sad
So, now I've seen it. The original title is Love bound and there is about 7 minutes missing.
Is this really a murder mystery?
No. Actress Verna Wilson blackmails her married backer, John Randolph Sr., for $100,000 by telling his wife that their relationship is more than professional. 54:06 How did they get away with bringing a firearm on the ship. Were passengers able to do that back then?
Not a big deal you could also bring a hammer.
@@jayreiter268 Was a hammer considered the same as a firearm back then??
Yes, they were.
Back in the day. It was more relaxed to be able to carry a firearm. They had to have a license. Some did have some didn't
Back in those days we weren't living in a BIG BROTHER 1984 type of society.
Montague Love Gunga Din!
Check out that fight scene at about 50:30...............my two little great-grand-daughters could do better than that.
18:00 2 ankles, 2 calves almost all the way up to the knee!
And a very shapely hip. In a wool dress, but still. Va va voom!
Seamed stockings don't do a thing for me. I like the later seamless look on women. It's a matter of aesthetics.
60% done. Nothing happening. No intriguing characters. Meh.
