I buy soaps at the drugstore near by my house ,or buy online in Japan.
You can buy ”Ichigo-milk flavor soap" from Amazon USA ,but I think they are too dry and hard to carve.
(Ichigo-milk flavor soap is popular with soap carvers in Japan.It isn't the soap in this video,it's easy to carve though)
But you can carve the commercial soaps sold at the srore in USA. Please buy fresh and soft soaps .

sneakystripe I always gather the leftover soap shavings. And there are several way to use them.
:Use to wash (soap shavings are easy to lather)
:Use as the fragrance
:Use as the insect repellents in a closet
:Recycle them into soap balls

The carving knife I got from lazada has a bit shorter blade. Is that okay? Does that affect the carving at all?

A short blade knife is suitable for soap carving.about 4 to 4.5 cm blade is recommended.Because regular carving knives are made for fruit carving.(such as a watermelon ). A thinner blade is better. Thank you for your comment 😄💖

@@mizutamasoap I tried this one... I had 3 attempts it was so bad!!! I think I went wrong after the first layer of petals. I removed too much soap beneath it. How exactly do I remove the soap to make it clean? Tilt the blade sideways? Trim slowly? Can I ask for tips please. 😊 😊
I'm practicing for our practical next week. In arts.
