Do you know the combat purpose of the Daab long handle? Cuz i never see it use with two hands like the european medieval longsword or the japanese katana?
It's dual purpose. It acts as a counter balance to the length and weight of the blade (Krabi blades are beefier due to being more of a hacking blade than a slicing blade like a katana). It also allows the ability to utilize the sword with two hands.
The technique of Krabi krabong is more similar to escrima/stick fighting than other sword arts in that a lot of the techniques (i.e. twirling motions) come from the wrist, vs chops and slices that come from the elbow and shoulder in other arts (i.e. Japanese styles). As to the point above, the longer handle places the hand closer to the center of gravity in relation to the overall sword, which makes it more balanced and easier to "twirl" in the wrist while still being a fairly long blade with heavier weight.
