It is not advisable to use oil, of the plastic parts of the moving system, only advisable to clean from dust, and if any foreign material,

This applies to good clocks that are actually going to last. On cheap clock movements that will die long before the parts wear out, go right ahead. Plus, elsctronic clocks aren't near as open as mechanical ones

Mechanical.* Good quartz clocks, maybe. With most, though, will quit working long before that makes an ounce of difference (thanks, planned obsolescence)
