I have learned so much on the few vids of yours I have watched....like I am not getting my own things done....lol...getting SMARTER and FUNNER Everyday hehehe...Thanks Mr Ken - Orlando, FL
I got to go to Space Camp in Huntsville when I was 12 and I had an awesome time! I was able to go on that same trainer, I got to do a pretend EVA in a space suit, and I built and programmed a Lego NXT robot. I look back on that experience as one that lead me to choose to major in mechanical engineering, and this summer I've been invited to do an internship at JPL in Pasadena researching Piezoelectric Actuators (aka robo-muscles)!
I loved space camp! I was little and scared, so I did the yellow, smaller axis, only to find out that it made no difference! I'm only 20 minutes away from the Huntsville S&R Center, but I don't think I've visited since then. Now I can pretty much learn anything I want on the internet!
I went there this past summer. I had an amazing time, and loved my two crew trainers, KFC and Huggles. I learned so much, amd made me more determined to become an astronuat.
That is awesome! I'm a mechanical engineering major too, applying for a 6 month co-op at JPL in the Fabrication and Test division. If I'm lucky I might see you there, haha
20 years ago, there was. Space Camp Florida opened in 1989 and shared facilities with the Astronaut Hall of Fame in Titusville, Florida. The Space Camp facility closed in 2002 due to low attendance leading to financial difficulties wikipedia United_States_Space_Camp#Space_Camp_Florida
When i was a kid, i went on one of these at a park, but it was standing up instead of sitting, and instead of a motor, the operators would just turn a wheel outside that was on the same axle as the outermost ring.
I think it speeds up because the energy is transferred from rings that can't move in the direction they wanna move to the inner rings, sorta concentrating the energy...
does that video of you doing it include you doing something technical at the same time, like trying to edit a video clip? (I'm sure you'd have to strap the laptop in too, but it'd be pretty cool to see how bad that messes with you.)
There is no better feeling than catching the teacher out. I know, I've been on both sides. A good teacher accepts their ignorance with grace, but it does sting a little more when it's an eight year old.
1. Is that the exact same machine that Armstrong and others trained on, or is it a newer copy? 2. Is there video available of you, Destin, doing this? ;) Michelle
ive been on a multi axis trainer a couple of times, i consider myself a thrill seeker so naturally when i first went on one i yelled "WWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWW
If I had one of those. I would get my PC built into it and play games like that all day long... Prooobably wouldn't be able to walk for a few hours after I think.. :P
I cant wait until that video comes out! You are one of my favorite channels on youtube, never stop doing what you do.
I did that when I was 10 or 12 at Space Camp in Florida. I remember loving it.

THERE YOU GO, now you revealed the next episode. So it's about that thing! Nice.
I went there this past summer. I had an amazing time, and loved my two crew trainers, KFC and Huggles. I learned so much, amd made me more determined to become an astronuat.
Awesome man, just awesome. I'm applying to go there from Australia and I hope I get in. Do you hang out there often Destin?
Yeah, I have some video of me doing this, but I'm saving it for when I explain what's going on!
I WANT TO BUILD ONE!!! Guess the frame is welded aluminum panels. Is it controlled by a computer for randomness?
That is awesome! I'm a mechanical engineering major too, applying for a 6 month co-op at JPL in the Fabrication and Test division. If I'm lucky I might see you there, haha

Glad to hear you have video of you in it. I really hope you took a binaural vid from your perspective in it!
My kids will get a kick out of that. :) Thanks for the reply! ~ Michelle

THAT LOOKS SOOO FUN!

It would be awesome if you filmed it with a GoPro on your head, to have a little insight of how the experience it's like!

Gimbal lock might be interesting to talk about in SED for this :)
And it was actually 23 years ago that I was 10 ;) I was there shortly after it opened.
I've stood right there, Thats pretty cool to think about
That's fantastic.

you are such a giggler ....love it
Destin, you should have done this so we could get a laugh too.
I want to see you do it Destin!
i have been on that same M.A.T. when i went to space camp :p good times :)

Whoah sick!!
Playgrounds should have a 13+ section with one of these in them!
I want to go on one of those!!!!! Sort of...
I wonder if I can build one. I'll never know if I don't try.
I want to do that!
i want one in my backyard!!!
I would be throwing up everywhere. My shirt, pants, the machine, people; everywhere.
Fun. I want one in my house

"(...) gives the multi axis trainer a go"? Missed opportunity there. You mean he takes it for a spin ;)
totally jealous
Is there any truth to the rumor that this is a cure for motion sickness?
I wanna sit there @_@
If you squint your eyes just right, he looks like Lea Thompson imdb./title/tt0091993
0:59 wow she is really cute
Kinda like being in a slow blender! That must freak your brain out big-time! Yikes
I was not a fan of that thing...
Yep!
There is no Space Camp in Florida. The only Space Camp is in Huntsville, Alabama.
