Mrityu - The Truth of Death [Hindi with English CC]

My topic today is Death, a phase everyone has to go through. The one that starts with the end of one's body, not soul, just body. Before we get any further, I would like to narrate a little story. A man approaches a holy man for knowledge and wisdom. He asks the saint how is the holy man able to live so contented and peacefully, and that, does the holy man not crave for pleasures of the material world?
What is Death? It's a beautiful pause, just a small pause. This is not the end. Just like when on a long journey, you tend to take a break, either for a pit stop, for a bite, or simply to freshen up, in the long journey spanning over many life-times, death is that pit stop.
As you take new birth, you get the opportunity to be a child again, to be a youth again, to live through all the pleasures, the joys, of this world, to fulfill your desires, to finish the unfinished. Fear dwells and grows in ignorance. We are afraid of the uncertain aspect, of life, of death, of losing, and so forth. As we gain wisdom, fear goes away automatically. Because, wisdom, inner knowledge, gives you conviction and faith. And, they decimate your fear.
Krishna says during the time of death, the thoughts you have in your mind determine your next birth. If during the course of your life you haven’t done charity, pooja/tapas and led a life of devotion, it makes it harder to focus on these aspects when you are in the last stages of your life. If you have done this throughout your life, it makes it easy to be devoted and in god’s thoughts at the end of your lifetime - It’s all about practice of devotion from the beginning.
