It's amazing how despite things always going wrong and catching fire these highly experienced mining teams NEVER EVER EVER think to put someone at the controls ready to shut the gear down when it goes sideways. They're always running, yelling and cursing and too late to shutdown.

OK so on really big equipment if you do not replace the thermostat on a yearly basis, which is easy to do, then you will be buying engines and engine parts. The oil level must be kept up and changed regularly. DO not risk a 10K engine with deferred maintenance. .
As every year...I think he lives off his past income, his last years of operations are probably almost at a loss every time. These huge barges that he had to rebuild had a production rate much lower than the "classic" system (excavator-truck-wash plant). While Indian River is said to be its richest land. And in addition dredges are now useless with the water license stuff. Add Tony does not have a washing unit capable of handling a flow similar to Sluicifer for ex. Parker has been racing alone far ahead for at least 4 years.

Dirt moves..... Take gold bearing dirt to where you can process it. Done it with ore that was about 3-4 oz per ton, microscopic ore, cant imagine that ore bearing actual nuggets would be less profitable. Haul it from Indian river to wherever you can to process the dirt.

I love gold rush, and watching Tony with his family makes me say “thanks for raising kids who appreciate hard work”. Today, parents try/shield their kids from adversity, and that’s the very thing they need to experience so they can get through life successfully. I don’t like the language but love their work ethics. The average inheritance is gone within 6 months to 2 years because kids thay never worked hard and don’t appreciate what effort went into accumulating money while raising a family. Help them along but don’t pamper them. Look at Parker, don’t care for his attitude but admire how he was raised.
a blown thermostat does not warp the head -- unless you push it ruinously. I can't imagine that happening while the crew is standing there. What normally happens is that the radiator hoses blow. The coolant leak then becomes so obvious you kill the engine before anything serious happens.
Absolutely no chance that a simple overheat warped the heads on that engine. Kevin has no idea what he’s doing on Diesel engines and it shows. Maybe if he would do his job for tony and maintain equipment they wouldn’t have so many equipment failures
@Robert Edgemon I’ve been building Diesel engines since I got out of high school. There’s very few Diesel engines that are gonna be prone to those issues especially under the low working load that one was under. I have an lly duramax known for cracking heads that’s been overheated past 240 degrees F at least six times in a single night when I blew a coolant line. Still no cracked or warped heads. An overheat will cause you to burn oil from the rings and sometimes valve guides long before it will cause head problems.
@Robert Edgemon can’t say how hot it got but you can clearly see in the video it wasn’t even boiling over so couldn’t have been that bad. And it kinda helps when you have enough thought to watch your gauges. Maybe then you’d stop blowing so much stuff up 😉

I’ve seen the inside of so many Diesel engines it isn’t funny and yes I’ve even had to r&r a few I’ve built and even worked on semis and had to diagnose engine problems with them. I work with cars. Their problem is 1) getting somebody to actuallly go there, pick up the heavy item, tranaport it from A to B. This can take days or weeks. And 2) even if you got the item, if it's not 100% OEM part in 100% brand new condition, you will have a hard time installing it.
