Thanks so much for your excellent coverage, Daniel. I’d be very interested in your thoughts about the future of the world championship. Looking down the road a bit, perhaps 25 yrs or so, do you think the format will be pretty much like it is now, classical with similar time controls? Or will it evolve into some kind of hybrid with some rapid or even blitz games? What is your personal preference? And with the advent of the current engines, it appears there’s a much greater emphasis now on preparation and memorization. Do you think the top players might view this as a more tedious, less rewarding or inspiring aspect of the game in the future? Might it create more interest in alternatives like 960?

There are many GMs in chess and even a few champions, but there is only one KING 👑
Thank you Daniel for the excellent coverage as always 😊

I’m wondering whether a match should rather be decided by a larger point differential. Basically, this match was decided by one last move!

@ and so you are admitting that, to within one move, Gukesh and Ding are equals!

Yes the world championship should be decided with the first to 10 wins with atleast a difference of 3
If someone wins with a lesser difference they play on until there's a 3 win difference 🤝

@@SoulmateParis chess is just a hard game to win. I believe they are equal in their quality of play, but an indefinite match situation would lead to the match being won by qualities other than chess skills.

@ maybe keep the format and declare a tie. No world champion until someone wins the cycle with +2? just an idea.
