I really hope Cody becomes a must have in the series. This season really makes him feel like someone who should have existed since sf2. He’s just one of the most overall enjoyable characters in V.
Baf you forgot to mention that EX Zonk Level 2 laxed juggle state now allows for H Ruffian when it only allowed for M Ruffian last season. Also, you can now combo Hammer Kick into the wall bounce into Crime Sway Wrench Fist as well for great oki and damage. You can also just delay Crime Sway Wrench Fist to make it hit the wall bounce too and all of that is cancelable into V-Trigger. Cody also can cancel a Tornado Sweeper off of the second hit of stand fierce when anti-airing and it'll hit the opponent's guard on the way down, allowing Cody to be +10 on dash-up, this gives him something more meaningful off stand fierce anti-air when it was kind of lackluster last season.
@@Bafael LOL!! Yeah, you're a Sakura boy so, ya wouldn't have. Just as a caveat, the stand fierce AA cancel into Tornado Sweeper usually only works from a far-out jump, if you cancel on a close jump, it'll whiff and the opponent will be in your face ready to bonk you. You need to learn the ranges before canceling but, it's not really hard. Now, reupload the video!!! Kappa.
Also if done around midscreen range, you can juggle M ruffian after the lv2 ex zonk into H ruffian combo, leading to massive dmg (up to 465 with 1 bar)
I was just mashing everything, as you do in fighting games, and fount that one of my shoulder buttons did the thing. After that, I played Cody for about two matches, switched back to Sakura and spammed forward mk until I was 24 years old.
Some of these buffs are pretty wild, but it’s strange how he didn’t necessarily need many of them. He got buffs on a lot of his already good aspects, (EX Zonk, VT2, damage output in general) so while he’s probably better, not a lot of these buffs are game changing. The rapid cancel low confirm is nice but also seems like the bare minimum he could’ve gotten for a low confirm, and the bad spray change is a great buff to his defense. His matchup spread is gonna stay the same, but his offense is considerably more scary now.
@@zonk834 that's why the buff is godlike, before it was just high risk, now it's high risk, high reward, that good balance design. Also it's 3 frames, and literally even all pro level of players get hit by 3 frame lights on wake up, it's definitely not easy to react to a 3 frame start up for anyone, experienced or not experienced. It's actually better than the majority of 3 frames lights, because 3 frame lights lose to meaty mediums and heavies, so Cody literally has the only 3 frame wake up in the game that doesn't trade with a light, and beats out a medium, and the caveat is that it trades with heavies. To balance how great that is, it's unsafe on block which 3 frames lights aren't.
@@Hollowdarling actually the bad spray animation is not truly a 3 frame animation. it's just 3 frames beginning from the point when he's considered to be hittable. however before that 3 frames begins, there is a significant animation Cody goes through that telegraphs the bad spray and is distinct from any sort of quickrise animation. if you are expecting bad spray, you will never be hit by it, because of this factor. normal 3 frame moves have no such telegraph so it's always 100% a guess. the reason bad spray works sometimes is because people go on autopilot and they forget Cody has the move. not many people play Cody and of those players, many do not use Bad Spray (because it's not very good), so sometimes you will catch people. Bad Spray is a lot better now but it still has the considerable weakness of being telegraphed.
Vt1 was always really good if you didn't have the execution to pull off VT2 robberies. J.HP in VT1 is so ridiculously long and can be combo'd into MP>HP target combo into knife command grab. Not to mention VT1 gives you something of a replacement for tornadoes that you lose while either is active.
Asoluley killed it with the video!! I’m super excited for the new level 2 zonk combos, because it now gives him his max damage 1 bar mid screed damage, which was only previously possible on 6 characters and if you had VS2, and now, assuming you have the charge, you can consistently get the same damage across the board, and bad spray being an actual move now is really nice. Thanks for the amazing content baf :)
I hope his buffed VT1 is able to help him in matchups he previously struggled with. I would like to think that's the original intention of giving characters varying VT and VS.
I picked up the knife recently and feel it helps a lot against karin and chun, but not much against poison and sim tho. Still, i found it to be a lot of fun and dont think i will go back to the pipe!
s.HP being cancelable on 2nd hit lets him special cancel his anti-air into h.ruffian for a side-switch on close jump-ins, or into h.tornado on far jumps for either some free chip damage, or a hit that can combo into some serious follow-ups.

Cody is probably the most recognizable as an actual Street Fighter in terms of his fighting style. Fists rocks and pipes.

Fighting in the streets since '89.

I would count Birdie too even if he got more... food court like.

In the corner with no VT on a post-stun EX Tornado Sweeper combo , that extra hit adds like 15 more damage. I love it!
