Excellent point. Certainly they should be very extensively vetted and stringently screened as would be done on any applicant for a highly sensitive/high profile job. For these positions, people’s emotional and interpersonal stability, financial history and legal history are gone over with a fine tooth comb. Extensive contacts with foreign nationals, utilization of the financial institutions of other countries, the quantity and nature of civil suits are routinely vetted for sensitive corporate, military, sub contracting , research and civilian government positions. None of these entities can afford a scandal or penetration by domestic or foreign corporate interests. It is essential that those campaigning for the Presidency be held to no less a standard. Our current laxity is absurd and made a “ Trump” possible in the first place. This issue needs our prompt legal reform as a priority.
The magnitude of the issue addressed in this trial cannot be overstated. How many politicians in the past were elected due to a successful catch and kill policy. These people blandly discuss it as though it is just one more election strategy versus the subversion of a viable, working democracy. There is a complete absence of shame evident in all of these people’s discourse; their gripe is that the deal worked out badly for them. Most concerning are those who frankly admit that they don’t care about the ethics of a political leader as long as he or she addresses their specific wants and needs. They don’t understand that the one produces the other. A crook interested in satisfying the wants of their constituents only does so until a better offer comes along.
I understand needing someone to play devils advocate or give perspective from the other side of a story and you can do that without the aggressive, loud, and grating voice of someone who’s been chain smoking since the OJ trial.

Although she may not want to portray herself as an anti-Trumper as a witness. Since that would give a great opportunity for the defense to target her as biased, perhaps as having an agenda. Only certain politicians are prosecuted for things that can be made into crimes. While it is possible that under the letter of various laws Trump committed a crime, it took a prosecutor looking for a reason to charge Trump with something to come up with a new and creative way to make a crime out of his actions. Dershowitz is correct IMO, natural justice occurs when someone is seen to commit something which is clearly against the law and is charged, not when someone goes looking to construct a case.

They're called *court reporters,* the profession is dominated by women, and they are going without sleep to expedite the production of what news anchors are reading right now. As a profession, they are extremely poorly paid, and yet *no court room proceeding can occur without them.* Thank you, Madame Court Reporter, for taking on this difficult task and providing the world with official transcripts of what happens in our legal system. I'm sorry your efforts go unthanked, and you are treated as if you're invisible.
Not so fast, there citizen. Transcripts in felony court cases have traditionally been subject to falsification. If either side objects, moves to strike from the record, giving grounds and that is sustained it is removed. A judge may unilaterally do it without citing cause and still admonish or order the jury to disregard. This is a long-standing, unquestioned wrong. On March 12th, 1994 I discovered that the transcripts in my felony case from pre-trial to sentencing were falsified beyond recognition from the proceedings as they happened. Yes, I can prove it beyond reasonable doubt and the jury can verify those violations they were witnesses to. While it's unlikely that it will be deemed necessary to forge a fake history in this case or any other Trump one don't think this practice isn't done.Your confidence in the integrity of courts rightfully ours is naive. This is in no way a defence of Mr. Trump who's lawless himself.

And all *objections,* whether sustained or overruled, remain part of the record, because they can be grounds for appeal. I was a court reporter in Canada for 25 years, and that was always the practice. If it's any different where you are, you must live in the land that justice forgot. Of course, in the U.S., where even your "highest court" is blatantly corrupt, unqualified, and compromised, and are accountable to no one, anything is possible.

I did not want my relatives to take time from their jobs to attend so the prosecutors, designated, public pretender and presiding did as they wished. If it was due process why was it necessary to falsify the transcripts so extensively they became fake histories? I can't say about the pre-arraignments or afterhours intimidation arraignment but the pretrial, trial, post trial , pre sentencing and sentencing- all documents forged beyond recognition from events as they happened. It's unlikely that will happen to the same extent or even at all in this case or any subsequent one involving citizen Trump. You might consider why it's done at all at any time, though. Additionally, why are we fed media filtered information(?) and awful court artist pastel sketches instead of live cameras from multiple angles independent of court or corporate news control? A crew could install dozens discretely mounted in the courtroom in the 18 hour recess between sessions. At the very least the citizens of New York State should be able to witness justice being served in their name. Do you agree? What do you think about the transcript issue?

The magnitude of the issue addressed in this trial cannot be overstated. How many politicians in the past were elected due to a successful catch and kill policy. These people blandly discuss it as though it is just one more election strategy versus the subversion of a viable, working democracy. There is a complete absence of shame evident in all of these people’s discourse; their gripe is that the deal worked out badly for them. Most concerning are those who frankly admit that they don’t care about the ethics of a political leader as long as he or she addresses their specific wants and needs. They don’t understand that the one produces the other. A crook interested in satisfying the wants of their constituents only does so until a better offer comes along.

While it is possible that under the letter of various laws Trump committed a crime, it took a prosecutor looking for a reason to charge Trump with something to come up with a new and creative way to make a crime out of his actions. They're called *court reporters,* the profession is dominated by women, and they are going without sleep to expedite the production of what news anchors are reading right now. As a profession, they are extremely poorly paid, and yet *no court room proceeding can occur without them.*

Not so fast, there citizen. Transcripts in felony court cases have traditionally been subject to falsification. If either side objects, moves to strike from the record, giving grounds and that is sustained it is removed. A judge may unilaterally do it without citing cause and still admonish or order the jury to disregard. This is a long-standing, unquestioned wrong.
On March 12th, 1994 I discovered that the transcripts in my felony case from pre-trial to sentencing were falsified beyond recognition from the proceedings as they happened. Yes, I can prove it beyond reasonable doubt and the jury can verify those violations they were witnesses to.
While it's unlikely that it will be deemed necessary to forge a fake history in this case or any other Trump one don't think this practice isn't done.Your confidence in the integrity of courts rightfully ours is naive. This is in no way a defence of Mr. Trump who's lawless himself.

I was a court reporter in Canada for 25 years, and that was always the practice. If it's any different where you are, you must live in the land that justice forgot. Of course, in the U.S., where even your "highest court" is blatantly corrupt, unqualified, and compromised, and are accountable to no one, anything is possible.

Normally when someone is persecuted, all his relatives come to support him in court and in the media. Where is Melania? Where are Trump adult kids?
I did not want my relatives to take time from their jobs to attend so the prosecutors, designated, public pretender and presiding did as they wished. If it was due process why was it necessary to falsify the transcripts so extensively they became fake histories? I can't say about the pre-arraignments or afterhours intimidation arraignment but the pretrial, trial, post trial , pre sentencing and sentencing- all documents forged beyond recognition from events as they happened. It's unlikely that will happen to the same extent or even at all in this case or any subsequent one involving citizen Trump. You might consider why it's done at all at any time, though. Additionally, why are we fed media filtered information(?) and awful court artist pastel sketches instead of live cameras from multiple angles independent of court or corporate news control? A crew could install dozens discretely mounted in the courtroom in the 18 hour recess between sessions. At the very least the citizens of New York State should be able to witness justice being served in their name. Do you agree? What do you think about the transcript issue?

I wanted to hear why Jeffry Toobin thought Pecker was trying to bury Trump and you interrupted him.
Pecker was probably asked about it in the grand jury. He would have to reproduce his answer in court or he could lose his immunity agreement. Toobin's conspiracy theory that Pecker wanted to bury Trump is of no interest to me. I'm more concerned that he keeps his hands above the table.
