  • Fighting off the wall can be a game changing skill to have, not just for MMA but also for self-defense. I had the privilege of training with Nick "Chewy" Albin and collaborating on a few videos. This was one of my favorites!

    The video is ok... but you forgot to mention that the wall is just like the ground only usually not as dirty. I feel like that's an important detail you missed.

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Depends on the wall...that wall was definitely nasty after we sweated all over it.

    When it comes to hitting your knee on concrete on shots, there is a part of the shot called a knee pound. Something I found to be true, but just myself is a small sample size, is if you don't let your knee just drop or fall on the ground when doing a shot, and your knee pound as you should in a proper shot, your knee is safe and doesn't get hurt

    Great video as always, I have a question for you I have a 19 yr old son he's currently a blue belt and has been rolling for over 7 years, wrestling for the last 5, boxing from age 9 his only interest are getting his degree in psychology degree and training MMA we recently found a MMA gym after years of the other disciplines what advice would you have for him as far as his training and goal setting

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sounds like he is taking a great path already. If the gym he found still offers boxing, wrestling and jiu-jitsu, then I would say keep with it. If he eventually wants to fight then just train intelligently and research the organization before he signs up for anything.

    How do you defend this? We played a game where you defend this but I don't know how

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The short answer is get your underhooks and turn hard to get your back off the wall/cage.

    • @Djent7779
      @Djent7779 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks i guess bro, the most useful item that i learnt was when you said think of a wall as the floor, but thats still dangerous beucase of slams, I see it alot in mma fights, a guy gets pinnned to the wall, and then the aggressor gets a single leg, its a nightmare unless you turn it into a omatoplata, cheers take care be safe

  • @StarWarsInfinite
    @StarWarsInfinite 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Isn’t this counter intuitive to bjj since comps are performed on an open matt with no walls? I have one classmate that abuses the wall for takedown. Pretty annoying tbh, thus trying to find tips on defense.

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This isn’t for BJJ competition. This is more geared toward MMA or self defense.

    • @StarWarsInfinite
      @StarWarsInfinite 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KnightJiuJitsu gotcha, there’s a student at my bjj school that’s always trying to drive me to the wall for takedowns and it’s a little frustrating cause the studio is small (nyc based) so sometimes sprawling is hard to perform. Will def watch this video and see what techniques I can use to counter this move before it’s too late. Thank you, also I’m a white belt so still learning basic funadmentals!
